The egg toast surprised me in a good way, I loved it! Classic diner vibes. Sat at the counter and service was great. Would dine here again.

I dropped my car off for a tune-up and decided to walk around Polk Street to find somewhere to eat. It was about 8:00 AM on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and many places were closed or not yet open. After a while, I found Taste Eatery and went inside. The dining area isn't very big, but it is nicely arranged. I sat by the window facing the counter. Two guys worked at the grill, and a young waitress served the tables. She handed me the menu, but I had already decided to order the Polk Street omelet, which I saw on the menu posted outside the door. I also asked for a cup of drip coffee. The coffee was good, as was the omelet. I even got a refill for my coffee. Overall, I found everything to be good but not outstanding, which was perfectly fine with me. I enjoyed my breakfast, paid, and left feeling satisfied.

1994 "TOAST" was it great. Now Toast is... is an overpriced horrible customer service, food, and cleanliness disaster on polk restaruant. No one speaks English. West Portal and the Church loctionsar still somewhat decent. Seems all Toast eateries are dying. My personal ratings as a 30 year customer the three locations. Now currentRATINGS SINC 1994.The second # is now, the 1rst was 1994Food 8/2Customer service 9/0Wait time-2 (that's a positive)Price well at least at th Polk store they should pay you to eat there.Well they did have cover up that rat infestation. Opps!

Inside ambiance is nice, feels like a diner sort of vibe. Food is extremely mid for the price, and the avocado I got on my eggs was literally black. When I opened my togo box I thought the avocados were mushrooms.Would have rather not had any food at all with these quality issues. Although the Nutella and Banana waffle was good overall, I would not recommend this establishment to a friend. (ps. luckily ordered for pickup from doordash and got a refund on the eggs Florentine)

After having a bad first time experience I forgave them and decided to give them one more chance for redemption. Ordered some eggs, rock hard hash browns and tasteless French toast for my child and take a look at the picture I posted. Unbelievable $18 for this tiny little portion of food! Save your money and go elsewhere! Customer service is non existent too! Yikes I don't know why people continue to go to this restaurant. The restaurant itself has a diner feel to it and the location is great but I don't know that they deserve it. Perhaps they can step up!

The food was good here, but the service was inattentive, and the portions were small for the price.I went here at lunchtime on a Saturday. There were lots of tables available both inside and outside. I was seated quickly and my order was taken promptly.I ordered a California scramble, with sourdough toast and hashbrowns and a Coke. I was surprised the Coke was a plastic bottle, not fountain with refills. When the food arrived, it seemed like a small portion, particularly the eggs. My water was never refilled and no one checked on me. There were lots of people working, so I'm not sure what the problem was. I saw the person at the next table had trouble getting anyone's attention to pay her check, so I made sure to have my card ready to hand to them when I got my check.Good food, but not sure I'd go back.

Went here on a Wednesday morning, and it was packed. Parking was easy to find in the street, but had to pay $2.50 an hour. We were a group of 5, and to get seated, we waited about 15 minutes, which wasn't a lot. There was only one person working (taking orders, cleaning up, making the drinks, and charging people). Two other people were cooking in the kitchen. One of the people in the kitchen forgot to do one of our dishes. Once we let them know, the dish came out in like ten minutes. Once we were done, we had to wait for the person who was working by herself to give us the check and pay. I had to use the restroom, and it was by the restroom. The kitchen did not look clean, and the floor looked filthy. This place needs more staff, deep cleaning, and more communication between staff.

I'm so disappointed. This was a hit for me and my bf. We would go twice a month order a few things. It used to be clean and great food. However, this time the service took a while, the water tasted awful like not tap water but like refrigerator and it had a hair. My meal came cold and the tortillas were cold. The orange juice was not good it had a weird little taste even though it was allegedly fresh squeezed and it had debris of lint and little hairs in it. I ate it w/o actually enjoying it. I used to recommend it here but now, quality, cleanliness, and service has gone down. Save your bucks go elsewhere.

We were heading to Bobs for donuts in our first morning in San Fran and girl doesn't subsist on donuts alone. Needed something bit more substantial. On the corner, viola! Toast. Food excellent, service awesome and friendly. Overall was very happy with everything and would def recommend.
