The Mochi Donut Shop Clement

If you want an alternative to the insane lines for Mochill in Japantown, stop by Clement St instead at the Mochi Donut Shop. There are almost no lines ever and honestly the quality of the donuts is pretty much the same, if not better. I honestly do not get the hype around Mochill and am much happier coming here to support our local Richmond businesses!They always have new flavors to try out -- this time we got a guava iced mochi donut and an ube sugar donut -- including some fun seasonal ones during fall (like PSL). Not every flavor is always a hit, but the mochi donut itself is pretty consistent in quality. Good chew, not too greasy. I do which it was a bit more mochi-like since I love it when things are super QQ but it's really not that big of a detractor. The guava donut was tasty: strong guava flavor but the icing was a bit too sweet. The ube donut was a miss: couldn't taste the ube at all, so it was basically a plain sugar donut.Prices are similar per donut to Mochill, close to $4/donut. They also serve drinks here, and make a pretty solid Vietnamese coffee and other matcha drinks.

We were walking around Clement Street on a Sunday afternoon and my friend wanted to get some mochi donuts. I've been to the Irving Street location but this was my first time at this location.We shared a 3 piece Mochi Donut Box ($11.00)+Airy and chewy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside+Passion fruit glaze was fruity and tangy, and shredded coconut was a nice touch.+Packaging was super cute-Matcha glaze was on the sweeter side and wasn't very strong.Side notes:1.) Limited indoor seating: There's only 1 bench inside, so it's mostly a to-go spot.2.) Limited street parking: We had to circle around a few times.*Verdict: 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 d/t service. There was one employee manning the shop, and he was really friendly. He offered to help us take pictures, and asked us what we thought of the donuts since we ate them there.If I'm in the area, I'd love to stop by to try more flavors as well as their drinks!

Stopped by this small biz on Clement St to grab cute and yummy dessert to bring to a friend's house. Grabbed a variety of donuts (10/10 Mochi donuts are like crack). Don't sleep on the mochi donuts from this place!! The donut we all grew up with & learned to love for its thick, greasy and doughiness is out. Mochi donut...with its light, airy, almost crispy texture is in. She's reg donut's demure cousin who stays at the ritzy Plaza Hotel in New York and applies a 9 step skincare routine nightly. -1 star for the drink! The boba pearls could taste better & the drink was tiny & filled with ice

I'm not an expert on mochi donuts having only had them one other time, but with that, WOW. These things were delicious. We tried four flavors: Milk tea, Churro, dark chocolate, and funnel cake. All were delicious in their own way, but it's the donut itself: the chewy and tender, yet light and not overly sweet that really sold me. The shop is super cute and small and the service was so friendly. Note that the menu has various numbers of donuts listed but you can get whatever you want! One or 100. :)

It's ok... I feel like the donuts looked stale and had been sitting for a while (frosting started to reabsorb into the dough). We ended up grabbing just a drink before bouncingInterior is tidy, plus your standard trendy photo wall with neon lights + foliage. Staff were friendly and approachable.UBE: The boba... Is unflavored... Rubbery chew (very weird) though. The ube flavor is a bit artificial. Not too sweet but a little harsh. You can't adjust sweetness or ice. It does come in a cute can, but maybe it's pre-made?We were here on a Friday afternoon and they still had donuts in stock (not very popular?). The flavor options were okay, nothing crazy.

After dinner, we decided to take a walk on Clement St and saw this mochi donut shop. We peaked inside and saw the mochi donuts on the display. The lady at the counter said since it was near closing time, she would give us an extra donut if we bought three.The mochi donuts are sold at a minimum of three and half a dozen and a dozen. They also sell boba drinks, fruit lattes and smoothies. The donuts looked delicious and my friend decided to get the four donuts. We got two funnel cakes, a strawberry and an ube. The donuts were packed in a nice fancy box.The donuts were light and not dense with a chewiness to them. The funnel cake had a powdered sugar and strips of strawberry glaze on it. The strawberry had a strawberry sugar coating on it. The ube had sugar glaze on it. The strawberry one was little too sweet with the full sugar coating. The ube didn't have the purple coloring on it. I like the funnel case the best, which I felt had the right amount of sweetness to it. Nice little mochi donut shop on Clement. If you have a mochi donut craving, check it out.

First time at this location. Similar vibe and flavors as the Irving location. Hope they can have more flavors at any give time. And seasonal flavors would be a definite plus.

Fluffy and delicious mochi donuts! It was perfect for a sweet treat while we were walking down Clement St. The decor in the shop is adorable!

SO GOOD! This was actually my first time trying a mochi donut and my mind was blown. I tried the funnel cake and the dark chocolate, both of which were delicious. There is very limited seating here, so I'd just plan to take the donuts to go.

My first time here and I received Great customer service. Lucas knows how to handle customers really well. Satisfied customer.
