I saw an IG reel about their ube mochi croissants aka the "Ube Mochicro" and I was immediately intrigued. I love ube flavored things and I'm a fan of textures! However, sadly, the ube mochicro ($6) didn't meet my expectations... The frosting was overly sweet and the height made it super hard to bite. The two sandwiched "ube" mochi rolls didn't add much flavor and felt like it was added as a part of a marketing gimmick. I was hoping it would be more similar to Jina Bakes' injeolmi croissant :(. The mochi ends that stuck out were super hard and kind of hurt to bite through. The croissant on its own was flaky and crispy. Store is on the smaller side located in the tenderloin -- two indoor and two outdoor tables. We couldn't find seating when we visited over the weekend. Menu contains various croissant and coffee/tea options as well, but I didn't try anything else besides the ube mochicro.

The old Mr Holmes bakehouse location. Some of the items looked familiar. But the menu is different. Gets my French stamp of approval. Croissants were flaky, and the drinking chocolate is the perfect temperature to sip right away. Be aware not much seating but definitely an upgrade from what use to be in this space previously.

The storefront is small but offers over 20 varieties of pastries. With only about eight seats available, taking your order to-go is probably the best option.I found my hot mocha to be unsatisfying, as it was only filled to about half a cup for $4.50. The Ube mochi was interesting, but I probably won't order it again. The croissant was flaky and quite good, and it was reasonably priced at $4.75 each.Overall, if you are in the neighborhood, stop by for the pastries and skip the coffee.

I was hopeful when walking into this cafe, but was very disappointed. We came in and ordered the viet coffee, portabello onion, and the kouign aman. I was initially pleasantly surprised at the offerings and some classics with an asian twist. The portabello sandwich was easily the best thing we got and was pretty tasty. The kouign aman was okay, but maybe warmed up would be better. Later on I noticed a lot of flies around the pastries, landing/sitting on them for awhile. If I had saw earlier I wouldn't have ordered. The viet coffee was absolutely terrible. Doesn't taste anything like any of the hundreds I've had. When I asked the cashier she said it was espresso, condensed milk, and cold brew. Nothing like a viet coffee. If you're going to try and profit off asian flavors and drinks/foods at least do it right. Might as well just not have it if you're going to do a terrible version of it. I ended up asking for a basic americano instead and gave them the drink back. Overall don't come here unless getting a freshly made sandwich. Mid pastries that have flies on them and clearly trying to profit off asian items without trying to make them half decent.

I got the raspberry round croissant, morning bun, and a plain croissant. My favorite was the raspberry round croissant. It was actually probably the best round croissant I've ever had before. It was baked perfectly. Usually when I get a round croissant, it's way too dry and crunch but not this one. I didn't care for the morning bun. The plain croissant was solid.

Came because we miss Mr. Holmes and wanted to see if The French Spot had retained any of the same fairy dust as Mr. Holmes. The space is quaint and the pastries are a feast for the eyes, but I wouldn't rank them up there with the higher echelons of bakeries in SF. Worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood or are looking for something off the beaten path.

I came here on a Saturday morning. Bakery was not super busy, so got my coffee and pastries quickly. It's a small store, but with surprisingly large amounts of seating. The cortado I got was just ok. More sour than I would have liked, and the milk wasn't steamed well. For the pastries, I got a ube mochi croissant, and a guava pastry. They were flaky, but had a bit of weird staleness to them that meant the nice crisp I was looking for wasn't quite there. The ube croissant wasn't super strong in ube flavor, and there was a very small amount of mochi, which meant the balance of chew and flakiness which I expected wasn't there. The guava came through super strong which I appreciated, and you could tell the glaze was homemade. Overall, solid spot, but was honestly expecting more!

This is a small bakery but they have 38 different pastries. Yep! It's so many options. :) Today we got almond croissant, banana cream pie, black sesame mochicro, and guava danish. Almond croissant is my number one favorite pastry. Let me tell you why. No matter how many bites you have. It's so crisp and crunchy. It's not too sweet. I love it. Surprisingly, it's not too buttery and it won't taste and feel too heavy. Banana cream pie I love the combination and not too sweet, but personally it's too much filling in it. I think they can make two for one. Lol!!! Black sesame mochicro a lot of filling in it but not really taste the back sesame flavor. Guava danish is too sweet and too soft, no texture at all. I don't like it. Will I come back for more? Yes, definitely. :)

We had assorted pastries:Croissant itself was nice and flaky, buttery layers. But the ubè filling didn't have any taste at all. I feel like they colored the mochi purple and called it ubè. We also had the almond/ raspberry croissant which was just ok. The raspberry filling was too sweet. We enjoyed the ham & egg quiche. Egg was perfectly cooked and the crust was perfect. We also took home their Salted Caramel Apple pie which we also enjoyed. Overall, this is not one of those I will go out of my way to come back.
