TEANI'S ITALIAN DELI located in north San Bruno is an old school rustic Italian deli with eclectic knickknacks from days of yore. Cool vintage fixtures like rotary telephones, a wall clock from an old kindergarten classroom, etc! The ambience Reminded me of the North Beach delis in SF. Only missing items were cheeses, sticks of salami and ham hanging to air cure. Wasn't clear how to start but looks like one line and each sandwich maker will call you when they're open. Cash or cards. This is a much slower operation than the other deli down the street and spun out from Teani's. They offer a variety of Italian style sandwiches you can customize or house sandwich. There was one table with chairs but was filled with staff having late afternoon meal. I'd expect that most of their sandwiches are taken home for the game or to a nice picnic location. This review speaks of the Dario sandwich, considered their Tri Tip sandwich.

This place is a locals spot that is serving up home style portions that are pumped from a small family owned deli. Service is quick and friendly. The place is like visiting your grandma that is full of little antiques and a lot of story's.Everything is well kept and organized . It's very busy so if you get overwhelmed I suggest looking at the menu beforehand. They have a competitor down the street that ALWAYS has a long wait. I suggest coming here instead of you want a stacked sandwich for a shorter amount of wait.

Picked up some sandos from Teani's last week before a hike and enjoyed every bite. We ordered the Venice and Parma, can't find a single thing I'd change about either sandwich. Cant wait to come back - I just know that these sandwiches are going to be a new craving. Service was kind and friendly and the deli had a great old school charm.

This place is right next to Little Lucca, very similar but both are bang for your buck. The sandwich was huge and only for $15, this can feed you for 2 meals. The flavors were great and they gave a lot of pastrami on my sandwich. The only thing I wish they did was toast the bread but if you are bringing it home, you can toast it yourself.

The line at Little Lucca was a bit too long, so we decided to walk down the block to Teani's, which only had a couple people in line. The deli is filled with memorabilia and stocked with Italian goods. I decided to get the Venice on a Dutch Crunch, it includes Turkey, avocado, bacon, and cheddar cheese. First impressions were how big the sandwich was. It was so huge, I was stuffed so I saved the other half for another meal. All sandwiches include mayo, hot sauce, garlic spread, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.Overall, Teani's is a great alternative for delicious to-go Italian sandwiches if you're not looking to wait in a long line.

I discovered that Little Lucca has a ridiculous line (20+ people) on a Friday afternoon, so I came across this little deli just a few steps away. There were a couple tables but most were stacked with focaccia or other Italian groceries. About 4 people in line when I stepped in.Staff moves at an extremely snail pace but they make sure the sandwich is properly stuffed with every ingredient. Big portions, fair for the price!Shrimp/Crab (~$15) - Friday special. Real crab! Bread was too much for me. Stuffing was very creamy/heavy and tasted much better on a salad.Parma ($14.50) - Much meat. Yummy garlic sauce. If you have an extra 8 min make sure to toast the sandwich!

So my "Food Feed" has been bombarding me with sandwich suggestions all located within the San Francisco Peninsula. Teani's has been trending and I knew it was about time to make a trip. I'm sure I've been to Teani's at least once before. I just don't order sandwiches as much as I used to AND I've always grown up knowing Little Lucca's and Roxie's for the longest time.Teani's was started by the original owner of Little Lucca, Harold Teani (1980-2001) a few doors down. With that being said, I was expecting some robust, OG garlic and pesto sauce invading my mouth! After making numerous attempts in ordering via Teanni's website (during store hours), I was advised to either call in or email in my order. After no luck, I double-checked their hours online and then I drove by to order inside. I figured it must've been crazy busy.I was in the mood for both an Italian style deli sandmitch and a seafood one. The Gemini in me needed both in my life. Although I wasn't too hungry, I knew I had to cop at least 2 sandwiches for good measure. Listed below are my 2 original sandwich orders:1) The Parma offers salami, cops (capicola), prosciutto and provolone on Sesame Seed Roll with mayo, garlic, pesto, lettuce, tomatoes and onions.2) The Real Crab and Shrimp w/Provolone on Hard Sourdough-with mayo, mustard, garlic, hot sauce, pesto, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pepperoncini. After my sandmitch-maker advised me that Crab and Shrimp were only available on "Wednesdays and Fridays," I was a bit disappointed. If I'm not mistaken, I think Little Luccas is also limited to their seafoods 2 days a week. Happily enough, I resorted to a Chicken Teriyaki w/Provolone on Hard Sourdough (everything on it). I was so frustrated by the ordering system earlier, I only remembered to tell the sandwich barista the type of bread I wanted. I don't even recall stopping to tell her the specific toppings (I wanted originally) on my sandwiches. The back of my mind had been thinking of that dripping, bulgogi-marinated beef lathered with high-caloric mayo for a minute now. Something about Teriyaki sauced mixed-in with mayonnaise--a combo I was raised with as a kid. I know it sounds Americanish, but it's a rare, yet delicious combo. The teriyaki mix (more like bulgogi) surely takes me back to those days when I used to visit the local Korean-couple Hoagie shop on Ocean Ave called, "Vikings Giant Submarines." Coincidentally enough, I read a short bio about Harold Teani online. Another shop, also called, "Vikings" (in San Bruno) inspired Mr. Teani to tweak up his own version of his historical pesto sandwich spread which made Lucca's famous.I was glad to have walked in to Teani's just to experience the nostalgic ambiance of some guy's long lost attic. There was a random assortment of tchotchkes: outdated signs, empty soda bottles, figurines, vintage pics, appliances and other memorabilia. Heck, there was even a horiffic Annabelle doll sitting on a high chair right next to you! If you've been accustomed to ordering from Little Lucca's, Mobile Home down the block, I can reassure you Teani's is something different. Teani's will warp you back in time.Though I didn't have the appetite to finish eating up both sandwiches, I had the chance to take them in my ride and give them a spin. The total damage was under $30 and I was pleased by the size, taste, quality and freshness. I waited for a good 12 minutes and I assumed that my Teriyaki was at least piping hot. I was glad that my sandwich was served room temperature. I felt that that all the ingredients had a chance to get to know each other. I took the remaining sandwich home to warm up in the toaster over but it didn't have the same taste/effect. Given the average price of their sandwiches ($15), I think Teani's did a stellar job! The Teriyaki Chicken pieces inside my sandwich looked and tasted as if the meat was taken from a Tyson's "Grilled and Ready" bag. While this may sound unappealing to some, I think customers are truly get their money's worth for a foot long sammy. The protein was flavorful, moist, plump and plentiful. The Parma was my other sandwich and it failed to disappoint. The blend of the salty, Italian meats were as fresh (and delicious) as it could be. I was so lost among the mix of flavors between both sandwiches, I couldn't even remember tasting pesto or garlic in my sandwich. Despite this, I knew I ordered some "worthy sandwiches" that day.Teani's is a good example of an old school, sammy shop that doesn't need to charge up to $20 for a good old-fashioned one.

Teani's,The OG Little LuccaLittle Lucca is top tier when it comes down to their sandwiches. If not one of the best places to get a sandwich in South City. But PLEASE do not sleep on Teani's. They're the OG Little Lucca. Which makes this place even more blessed than LL.Place is old school!Venice my go-to. Classic sandwich, comes with bacon, turkey, avocado, & cheddar cheese. Go with the ciabatta bread. Tell them to smother even more pesto sauce. Tell them to put everything that they got. These are hefty sandwiches so it's perfect for a 8-10 hour shift. Eat one half, save the other for later. Perfect if you are also sharing, eat one half and sharethe other half.Ladies are very generous, and make sure you tip them! They deserve it for how much love they put into their sandwiches.

Don't let the let the old skool charm and antique steer you away. This is the actual original owner of Little Lucca who was pushed out of his own business by hostile take over from the current owners of Little Lucca'a. Aside from that tidbit we like Teani's. They're totally italian and has the gruff demeanor. They reqdy to take your order so be quick! Take too long and you'll hear their irritation. If you like Little Lucca'a you will like Teani's. I order from both but always consider Teani's first. The garlic spread and jalapeno spread is the best and the same as Little Lucca's. No place in SoCal has a garlic spread and jalapeño spread. When in the Bay Area and craving a sandwich, go to Teani's!

Solid sandwiches, similar enough to little Lucca's with the jalapeño/garlic spread but just not quite as interesting or fun. They do get bonus points though for having a truly interesting decor. Feels like the best version of a hoarders garage, with old newspaper clippings and knick knacks from the past. Worth checking out, especially if you don't want to wait for a sandwich next door.
