Whether you're planning a picnic at Dolores park or you're roaming around in Mission, or want to have the yummiest breads of your life, visit Tartine! I had matcha latte, egg sandwich, plain croissant and pain au chocolat. All so flavorful and amazing! Lines are long(10-15 mins) over weekends morning but the vibe is great!

Finally had the chance to stop by Tartine Bakery. We got some baked goods such as a croissant, morning bun, canele, tres leches cake and a latte.I had pretty high expectations since this bakery is so popular. In my opinion I thought the pastries were pretty mediocre. The croissant and morning bun was good but I've had better. The iced latte was delicious but a little too sweet. The bakery itself is pretty small but it was really busy especially waiting for my coffee with 10 other people.

I haven't been here in years mainly because I find their baked goods mediocre. Coming back with someone who wanted to come, I still find them mediocre and the brunch stuff to be perfectly fine--though spending $40 on a sandwich and two pastries seems extravagant. From the almond croissant to the chocolate bread slice, everything was ok. Only standout was the coconut passion fruit cake which had pretty amazing flavor, but the texture of the coconut shavings, while fancy, probably would have preferred a thinner shred. Tuna sandwich was very flavorful--was not expecting the bread to be that hydrated--threw me off a bit. My friend got a the $13 dollar grilled cheese. Nicely toasted, but super plain without the green salsa sauce. It looked like a white bread slice and not their loaves they are famous for. Service was brisk yet kind and the ambiance is crowded and frenetic. As with any busy place.

Heard good things about Tartine so wanted to give them a try. Pretty long line on a Sunday around noon. Maybe 20-30 people in front of us.We ordered:frangipane croissant (almond) $7.25 eamorning bun $6.25 eaavocado tartine $18.50to go bag $0.25Almond croissant was delicious, lots of almonds. Morning bun not preferred...a bit on the dry side...some citrus flavor that I didn't really like.Avocado toast was great...very pricey though. Be careful...it did cut up the insides of my mouth!Parking is absolutely terrible here...probably took 15-20 min.

Stopped by on a rainy Saturday afternoon and a lot of their baked goods were already gone. First time trying the morning bun, and I thought it was ok, most likely because it's been out of the oven for a few hours by then. Also very little space and not enough seats to sit down FYI!

TLDR : Great food, mediocre coffeeGreat place to grab snacks before spending time in Dolores.Absolutely love the chocolate souffle, coffee cake and the croissants! The drawbacks are waiting in long lines and not having the best coffee!

Still super popular which means on New Year's Day, there's a line.I haven't visited the original location in a LONG time.I like the racks that display bread loaves in a grab & go set up.There are lovely desserts as before, but it's morning so I have to go with a savory pastry: the jambon and fromage croissant. The exterior is crunchy and crispy. The ham is flavorful. I find the cheese is lost in what seems like underdone dough. Could have been baked too quickly so the interior isn't dried out or it steamed itself inside. Disappointing for sure. But still tasty for a light bite.Food: 3.5Service: 4.0 (efficient and quick) but you have to wait in a LINEAmbiance: 3.0 (very crowded inside unfortunately and no seats)

This is probably now one of my favorite bakeries in the city. I decided to try the place again after visiting once a long time ago and my tastes have definitely evolved since. For cakes, the lemon meringue rectangle is my personal favorite because I love the tart lemon flavor with the sweet meringue cream. The cake part is delicious though in the 4 times I've ordered the past 2 weeks always one layer was extra moist while the others were pretty dry. The tres leches was very good, though I wish there was less of the cream (despite being very flavorful) and more of the soaked coconut cake. I've had the Devil's food cake at the Pasadena location and didn't enjoy it because it was just very dry, a bit heavy, and broke apart very easily.I'm not a huge fan of the tarts, the banana cream, lemon, and pear frangipane tart tasted pretty average to me was pretty forgettable. The frangipane of the pear tart and the almond croissant was more sliced almonds than the vanilla-almond flavored paste that I usually expect to taste. I wouldn't come here for these, as they do not stand out to me personally. The same could be said about their croissants, the plain, chocolate, and frangipane are not my favorite and I'd go to sf's many other bakeries for those. The quiche, croque monsieur, and savory items are perhaps my favorite things to get at this bakery. The seasonal quiche they were having was one of the best I've ever had in my life, though very expensive at 10.50 for a small wedge. The croque monsieur with mushroom was also very delicious, it has sourdough is loaded with juicy and plump mushroom with dried tomato and cheese topping it and creamy Béchamel sauce underneath. It was a very hearty and full meal and worth getting. The tuna sandwich is pretty good, though at the Pasadena location they offer to add cheese and make it a melt for 3$ which I recommend. Lately I've been very into their eclair, I find the pastry cream filling to be excellent and was told by someone that it's their must every time they visit. I haven't tried much of their drinks, though the morning bun latte and vanilla latte have both just been alright. I wouldn't come here if I was looking for coffee specifically but it gets the job done for a quick breakfast. This location doesn't get too busy in the morning, though the line goes out the door and around the shop by noon and lunch hours, and it gets slow since the shop is so small. There's limited seating spaces available and it's mostly just high chairs and counters seemingly designated for a quick break then go. It can get very crowded inside at peak hours though the vibes are overall good and it's nice to sit down for a bit.

I've been wanting to try Tartine for awhile, and the food was definitely worth the wait! I visited on a Wednesday morning, and the line was so long that it extended out of the store and wrapped around the block. Luckily, service was really fast, so the wait wasn't actually too bad. The interior of the store is so inviting, filled with the chatter of people and covered in gorgeous art. There was an exhibition for an artist, and the art pieces lining the walls were incredible. I tried the jalapeño ham and cheese croissant, which was giant and so delicious. I really enjoyed the sharpness of the ham and the butteriness of the croissant layers. The cheese layered throughout the croissant really brought the pastry together. I also tried the morning bun - sweet, crunchy, and covered in cinnamon! The banana cream tart was decadent, full of delicious creamy banana, topped with fluffy cream, and settled on a crispy crust coated with a ganache interior. I really enjoyed the cappuccino as well - nice and warm. I definitely plan to go back to try some of Tartine's sandwiches and cakes!

First time at this bakery and I really loved it. I came on a Friday morning and it wasn't that busy, but still with a good amount of customers enjoying their pastries and coffee. Parking can be tough. The pastries are very tasty and fluffy. Super worth it.
