Small Japanese market with a really great selection of ready made foods. The grocery selection is pretty good but I really come here for their take out foods. Their California roll is made with real snow crab (most supermarket takeout uses imitation crab) for $10. On Tuesdays, it's Tempura Day. Which means that they are making a lot of tempura. When I came in at lunch, there was a chef who was making tempura (both vegetables and shrimps) in the kitchen, on the left hand side of the store. An assistant was coming by with fresh supplies for the chef. She was also packaging the tempura as it was being made. If you see the table in front of the kitchen empty, just wait for her to come by and you may be able order your tempura fresh. She is very friendly. I got the large mixed tempura for $10, which also came with 2 shrimps. It was a lot of veggies and more than enough for 1 person. Both the California roll and tempura were restaurant quality. No seating, so everything is to go. Bonus: Yasukochi's Sweet Shop is in the same store (on the right as you come in). They are separate from the store and cash only. And they do sell out early.

Super Mira Market is a beloved neighborhood spot in Japantown and a true staple of the community. Despite its small size, this market is packed with all the essentials you need to prepare an authentic Japanese meal or satisfy your craving for snacks. From specialty ingredients to everyday items, they cover all the bases. But what really makes Super Mira stand out is its incredible selection of prepared foods, which are the real stars of the show. Every time I visit, I'm impressed by how well-maintained and fresh everything is with the staff are clearly attentive to keeping the shelves well-stocked.One thing to note is that the prepared foods tend to sell out quickly, so if you're looking to grab something specific, it's best to come early. My personal favorites are their delicious spam egg musubis and futomaki rolls. They also offer a wide variety of fresh sashimi, bentos, and fried items, all of which are consistently excellent. Whether you're in the mood for a quick bite or something more substantial, you'll always find something delicious here.Another reason I keep coming back is for their snack selection. There's always something new to try, from Japanese chips and sweets to unique drinks. And let's not forget the legendary Yasukochi's Sweet Stop, located inside the market, which makes the best Coffee Crunch Cakes around. These cakes are in high demand, so getting there early is key if you want to snag one before they sell out for the day!The market itself is always spotless, and the staff are friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere each time I stop by. Overall, Super Mira is an essential destination for anyone who loves Japanese cuisine, whether you're preparing a meal at home or just looking for something tasty on the go. It's more than just a market, it's a cherished part of the Japantown experience.

I was really impressed with this little supermarket. We usually go to Nijiya Market but it's always so busy there that I really appreciate this laid back store. They have all your Japanese staples. They are very popular for their fresh made bentos by the Japanese couple who own the place. I bought a variety of Onigiri, Croquette, fried oysters, sushi, and some more sashimi to take home for my kids. They are also home to The SweetShop, who's very popular for the crunch cake, which I will get next time! This is one of the few Japanese owned businesses and I hope they continue for years to come!

Very tasty Japanese dishes that are hard to find. Pickled, marinated, seasoned vegetables and sushi. Premade bento meals and unique groceries and snacks. Small place - super neighborhood-y. Fun to explore (other than the big store).

My favorite initiation in Japan town (not cold, and not heavy because of rice, has better rice to filling ratio than kassaka tea that people line up for)I'm dying to try their black sesame cheesecake and black sesame mochi ice cream ball next time
