After a relaxing session at Facial Plus, I asked my esthetician for a nearby restaurant recommendation. She suggested Sun Maxim's, raving about the delicious food at reasonable prices. She mentioned that everything on the menu is good, but especially recommended the rice rolls, clay pot rice, and pan-fried sticky rice. Yum!My husband and I were lucky to snag the last table for two. The waitress was friendly and attentive, quickly bringing us drinks and menus. Despite the steady flow of customers, she had to turn people away, asking them to return in 30 minutes since the restaurant was at full capacity. The phone was ringing constantly with takeout orders as well.We ordered the preserved egg and pork congee (5/5), BBQ pork rice rolls (6/5), and the preserved meat and spare ribs clay pot rice (6/5)--all absolutely delicious! However, it took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive, which I suspect was due to the place being short-staffed.Since it's a small restaurant and the weather was unusually hot, all the customers were sweating while waiting. Would I go back? Absolutely! The Sunset District is rarely this warm, so I'm sure it'll be more comfortable next time. I'm always happy to wait for good food!

Neither good or bad, I would say it's a pretty average dim sum place nothing too crazy that blew my mind. We went in at 11:30 and despite our group being one of the only ones there, it took a little while for the things we ordered to come out. The soup dumplings were good though!

Definition of decent food, but questionable service. Came by Saturday ~1:30 pm for lunch. The place was full with a 30-minute wait. Upon waiting, it was very apparent that many orders were being delivered to the wrong table and shuffled around. The place is somewhat small with ~12 tables, so be prepared for a wait if the place is full. When it came to ordering, only one person had ordering abilities, which made it hard to order and ask for the bill when the same person was running orders and handling other affairs. What we got: - Beef, pork, shrimp rice noodle~ The rice noodle skin was very soft and fresh, highly recommend grabbing a dish, but would probably opt out of the beef and/or pork flavor as the minced pork/beef seemed off. -Watercress Duck Gizzard Soup~ which reminded me of the one my mom would make at home, but semi-watered down. Very traditional flavors. Solid.-Fried Chicken Wings~very decent. Crispy. Simple dry seasoning. -Preserved Meat and Yellow Eel Clay Pot~THE STAR OF THE SHOW. Came for this dish and it did not disappoint! This dish was last to arrive, but rightfully so. Crispy bottom. Flavorful meat. PRESENCE OF VEGETABLES! The service here was rough to witness and experience though. Orders were not well tracked as only one person could place orders. Food coming out was passed around tables before it landed at their respective tables, something I saw happen to my dishes as well. The servers were constantly arguing, during and behind the scenes. My condolences to the table over who waited an extra 20 minutes for their last dish of shui mai, only for it to arrive late, raw, and had to be sent back. All in all, the clay pots and rice noodles here is very good! Service, not so much.

First time trying this restaurant. We were looking for clay pot rice. And there isn't a lot of place in SF that makes it. We ordered the chicken clay pot ( rice on bottom is crispy , sticky rice w chicken (chicken was kind of cold) and shrimp rice noodles. Everything was really good. There's one waitress and service was good. It's a small little restaurant but nice. We will recommend to our friends and family to come try their delicious clay pot rice.

It's a very casual restaurant, and the food is quite good especially for the price. They got 3 of our orders wrong unfortunately but they made up for it with kindness! My favorite is definitely the congee. So filling and flavorful.

I never tried this spot until earlier this week and it was immaculate. I got the spareribs and lap chang clay pot rice with extra meat and veggies. The rice has a nice fragrant taste to it from the meat and the rice was crisped to perfection on the bottom. I don't like the rice too burnt so I asked the owner if she can make it less burnt. I also tried their shrimp rice noodle roll and it was probably one of the best I've had in the city. The noodle was soft and the shrimp was soft and tender. The restaurant itself is fairly big, but I just get takeout here.

This place is solid! I ordered takeout from here recently and tried a bunch of items including the chicken congee, century egg and pork congee, BBQ pork buns, fried chicken wings, and pork spare rib clay pot. My favorites were the chicken congee and pork spare rib clay pot. The only thing I wouldn't order again was the century egg and pork congee.

Came here for lunch. The store owner is very nice and talkative. We ordered mushrooms chicken claypot and port rice noodles. They are both good and affordable. The whole meal is no more than $30. The rice noodles are very soft, and the soy sauce is good too. Highly recommended! The mushroom chicken claypot takes around 30 minutes. I guess they not like some other restaurant, precook the rice and put it into the claypot. At the bottom, it has a lot of crust. It's very crispy! The chicken is soft and juicy. Besides claypot and rice noodles, they also offer dim sum. Love this neighborhood restaurant, it's definitely a spot to go to when you dont know what to eat for lunch.

Fish Fillet Congee ($5.99): this was really flavorful! I love the consistency of the congee. The fish was soft and flaky.Chinese Donut Rice Noodle ($7.75): we weren't a huge fan of this, the rice noodle was ok and wasn't great. Everything just falls apart once you get it.Chicken and Mushroom Clay Pot ($11.99): we got their lunch special for this specific clay pot, you get a couple dollars off during 11am to 2pm. This was sooo filing! It can feed 2-3 people. You've got to scratch the rice off the pot with a spoon and get that scorched rice.

Several bugs found in the porridge I had in my To go purchase today. Easy enough to say I won't be returning here.
