I don't think there's too many mini golf options in the city but this is probably my favorite one. Good location at Ghirardelli Square with a bunch of other places to visit and things to do around the area. The course consists of 18 holes and is reasonably priced at $28 for 2 players. Courses were S.F themed and were nice and creative. I think the thing that stood out to me most is that each course had a place for people to set down their beer/drinks and some even had benches. Small detail but very thoughtful on their end.Perfect for date night

We had a team building event at Subpar Miniature Golf in Ghirardelli Square and we all had a blast. Everything about this place seemed to go perfectly. We had a room set up for our event, but everyone was playing mini golf, laughing and screaming at the great fun. There was a mini bar area set up, which had a pretty good draft beer selection. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and sharable plates that everyone seemed to enjoy. The view from the private room was incredible, welcome to SF and our postcard views. Service was attentive and everyone was really nice and accommodating. And last but certainly not the least impressive thing was the SF city landmarks and buildings as each hole design - It's so cool. I highly recommend Subpar Mini Golf, especially on a cold and rainy day like today in SF. Have some fun!

Subpar Mini Golf lives up to its playful name, offering a quirky, fun, and casual mini-golf experience. The course features a mix of creative holes, themed decor, and a laid-back atmosphere that makes it a hit for families, friends, and casual date nights. However, the course design leans more toward novelty than challenge, so seasoned mini-golf enthusiasts might find it less engaging. Some holes feel overly simple, and a few gimmicks can disrupt the flow of the game. Maintenance could also be improved--worn-out turf and uneven obstacles occasionally detract from the overall experience.Despite these flaws, Subpar Mini Golf delivers a lighthearted, affordable way to spend an hour or two, especially for those prioritizing fun over finesse.

This was my second visit, and I returned because I had such a great experience back in 2021. The location is fantastic--right in Ghirardelli Square with beautiful views of the ocean and Alcatraz. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, which adds to the appeal. Each mini golf hole is well-designed with seating, stands for drinks, and space to write on your scorecard, making the experience really convenient. What really stands out is that each course showcases different SF landmarks. The pricing is also reasonable at $14 per person (for all ages), which is a great deal compared to many other mini golf spots. For two people, $28 for 18 holes was worth it. Some of the courses were challenging, while others felt a bit too easy, with straightforward shots. They also offer a range of drinks, including boba and alcoholic beverages . Last time, I tried their boba, which was just okay. This time, I opted for the Fog City Hazy IPA, and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not usually an IPA fan because of the bitterness, but this one was lighter and more enjoyable--one of the best IPAs I've had.I've seen some reviews mention service issues, but I've had nothing but positive interactions. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming. We came on a weekday around 2:30 p.m., and it wasn't busy at all, so there was no need to book ahead or make reservations.I loved seeing the local attractions reflected in the mini golf courses. It's a fun experience with great photo opportunities!

Came in a little after 6. Really great prices for a round of mini golf! We were greet warmly by the girl at the register. Even the girl that served the beer at the little bar was bubbly also. I really liked the themes that they had at this location compared to other mini golf places. It's may be a bit small but there are a lot of sights to see! I like how they have lockers in the front of you don't want to carry your purse. They even have cupholders for your drinks while you play! I'll be coming back for more rounds. The vibe makes you feel nostalgic and you can recognize all the landmarks!

Although the holes weren't the most innovative or extravagantly designed, the $14 price tag was extremely reasonable for the 1.5 hour fun my party had. A reservation was required and my time slot unfortunately didn't qualify for the glow in the dark option. There were complementary lockers near the entrance. Upon checking in, we were able to purchase boba, beer and fried appetizers. Strangely we didn't receive a receipt so we awkwardly stood near the boba stand until we saw something that resembled our order. Each hole had a cup holder and stand for the beverages and food. Each hole included a recreation of a famous SF attraction. Some paths were creative but I wished more of the routes weren't so straight forward and similar to each other. We were still playing when they shifted to the glow in the dark format. While the neon lights and music created a fun ambiance, it was difficult to play with the standard golf set up. Players with darker golf balls had difficulty tracking their ball as a result. I hope Subpar will revamp their courses and introduce more glow in the dark elements in the future. Besides the occasionally colorful light, it would be cooler to outline the attraction with glow in the dark paint. Although not perfect, Subpar was appropriately priced and my party left content.

This place is located inside Ghirardelli Square and I've been meaning to check out it out for some time. Definitely worth checking out at least once. 18-hole miniature golf place highlighting iconic landmarks in SF. And for only $14!Reservations recommended, but we got lucky and were able to snag a reservation. They also serve food, beer, wine, and some non-alcoholic refreshments, including boba! I think my only safety concern was that there should be some protective barrier at the end of the Sutro Tower course. One other group and ours ended up with the ball flying off course and into the walkway area. Aside from that, we had a lot of fun and what a great way to go sightseeing in miniature golf form!

Excellent for kids. When you walk in, you see lots of families and younger couples all just having a good time. I've been here a few times to take large groups of teenagers, and they always love it. This course has cute ways to integrate SF landmarks and neighborhoods. There's a snack bar so you can also snack on fried things and drink some boba while putting. Beer and wine selection isn't terrible, either (also not mind blowing, but at least there are options!). The staff there are nice.

Arrived at around 7:30 on a Thursday with two friends and we were able to start playing immediately without a reservation. The venue wasn't crowded, offering plenty of space to move around. At the entrance, you can purchase boba, beer, and food before starting your game.I enjoyed the thematic elements of the course, all related to San Francisco, which made the city feel miniature and us like giants. The course consisted of 18 holes, and you could keep score using the notepad provided. While some holes were challenging, there weren't any moving obstacles, which I think could have added an extra level of difficulty and excitement. Despite having 90 minutes to complete all the holes, we finished in just 40 minutes.Overall, it's a great place to hang out with friends, chat, and play miniature golf. Plus, there are many other nearby places to visit before or after your game.
