If you're looking for a "Cheers"-type tavern with regulars who look epoxied to their seats and an interior heavy on vintage atmosphere, this neighborhood bar fits the bill. It's been in the same location since Prohibition was repealed, and the history of the bar is described in meticulous detail on the pub's website. This is definitely no trendy pick-up joint for Gen Z drop-ins. As you might expect, they have a robust calendar of events encompassing bingo, trivia, live music, and dance parties. However, more important to me, they make a half-dozen specialty cocktails and a half-dozen Bloody Mary variations.I've enjoyed the $10 Palomarg, a refreshing hybrid of a Paloma and a Margarita (photo: https://yelp.to/5c0lWhLmBb), and the $10 Madonna Inn, a bright mix of rum, Campari, ginger beer, and orange bitters (photo: https://yelp.to/zWpjXVZ3t6). They don't know my name, but they're always glad I came.DRINKS - 4 stars...creatively good cocktails at reasonable pricesAMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...if you like vintage pack rat, this'll be the place for youSERVICE - 4 stars...felt like NormTOTAL - 4 stars...taking a break from all your worries sure would help a lotRELATED - Exploring the Outer Mission? We used to come here on a more regular basis, but the bar itself is pretty dirty, (not grungy) and the overall vibe seems to get drunk / wasted amongst the regulars. If you're looking for the men's room, it's literally the door to the right of the bar itself, and the women's is up the stairs to the left.

Perfect neighborhood spot, fantastic old school soul music on Friday nights for lowriders and mod kids. Great regulars, and fair prices in the city.

This place was once a representation of pride and the city. Hard working respectful people that built this beautiful town. It's become a house of very respectable gals. I hope they never raise their standards or prices. But yea if u respect yourself or the city don't go here.

Classic neighborhood spot with lurid red decor and a chilly neo-psychedelic soundtrack. The lighting (red) and seating (red) imbue a slightly evil but undeniably energizing aura to those who enter this vaguely womb-like space. Worth a visit.

Well, if this wasn't the coolest find, I don't know what is. I love walking into a new bar in a town I'm not from and getting just good vibes. And also a long sleeve piece of warmth because I didn't plan ahead when we jumped on the bike to come to sf. Bartender Andy was working and he was terrific too. Add on the fresh popcorn in the bar, and a little food from next door, and it was a perfect day.

This is a pretty chill space. Drinks are reasonably priced, and the people here are nice. The decor is relaxed; its your basic dive bar. They also are cool about folks bringing in food from one of the restaurants in the area. So why 4 stars? Well, I'm here to see the the Warriors game advertised on the board outside the place. The problem is these lights that hang at just the right level to obstruct the view of the TV. Raise (or lose) the lights and this place is a solid five stars.

I heard that there was a GSWarriors going last Thursday night, so I arrived at 7pm to save a booth for the small party I was hosting to send off one of my colleagues--sob. The entire bar was full of Warriors fans with some standing around cheering their team on. The vibe was neighborhood sports bar. I saw and greeted a few people I remembered from before, and met some more by being helpful. When the game ended, the pub emptied. And we had the place pretty much to ourselves for a couple of hours until the DJ arrived at 10pm. We were glad to be able to chat easily. As the DJ started spinning, the music got louder with each hour and the place filled to capacity. By 11pm, shrieking metal was blaring from the speakers as a group of goth metal heads entered. We had to yell at each other to be heard and cup our ears to hear any conversation over the din. As I scanned the room, I saw hipsters to guys wearing paint spattered jeans to techies and metalheads. The bar started emptying again at 1am and we left to walk ourselves home before closing time at 2am.

The men who come here* are super-cool...and mostly available! On top of that, it's a super-unpretentious and womyn-positive, all-welcoming, local corner bar, just south of the Mission District gentrification project. *disclaimer: I am biased.
