i've been coming here for 10 years and i'm picky about my food- i don't understand the negative reviews at all! they always have the best food, my favorite are the savory crepes but the sweet crepes are delicious too. my favorite crepe in particular is the chicken pesto and i always sub the potatoes for kale ceasar salad.absolutely delicious

Came here on a Thursday morning and it wasn't busy at all. Lately I don't mind that places aren't too busy. It was quiet and intimate. The restaurant was clean and it was beautiful. Sunlight shone through making this place very bright and inviting. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They greeted me and my husband immediately and told us we can sit wherever we'd like. Soon after the waitress brought us over a big bottle of water with some cups and some menus. The young man who took our order was also very friendly and helpful as well.To me the food seemed to be fresh but might also be missing some flavor. It wasn't bad yet then again maybe to me because there wasn't enough flavor it sort of felt healthy which I thought eh that's nice since the fact that my dish was loaded with lots of veggies. Also just know we didn't realize that the food would come in such a good amount of portion. So I told my husband next time he orders us a savory dish and I'll order us a sweet dish and we can share.Might come back and give them another try if I am ever in the area.

Thurs 9:30am:Couldn't be easier to get here, located directly across the street from the West Portal MUNI station, K, L, & M lines. The 17 is steps away, & the 48 stops in front of the restaurant. The large interior space can accommodate many people & is kid friendly. The interior design is elevated cafeteria. Large open kitchen, high ceilings with arty large pendant lights. Groovy molded white plastic chairs. 14 tables plus counter space. Love the chartreuse tiled wall. Very clean inside. The usual laptop encampment nursing a glass of water. I know, lost cause. Buy something people. The service was excellent. You walk in, consult the huge menu board, order & pay at the counter. My waiter was super friendly & attentive. Zero complaints here. Shazam app informed me I'm listing to rather loud rock bands like OneRepublic, twentyone pilots, & Tate McRae, suitable for fast pace exercise classes. I'm officially old as I've never heard of any of these groups, except Nickelback singing 'How You Remind Me'.On to the main event, Avocado Toast, bacon, egg, fruit cup. Being a crabby gourmet I'd rate my meal a serviceable 3 star, ok enough. At least the toast was actually toasted! Why do restaurants give you those lame knives that force you to tear apart the bread like an angry squirrel? Only 2 places I've been gave me a serrated steak knife. Anyway, I digress. Avocado mash was similar to guacamole without the extra flavor. Egg was perfectly cooked to order. Wasted $7 on fatty, undercooked bacon that I didn't eat. The fruit cup was typical for a place with corn syrup ketchup, salt & pepper shakers unchanged since the 40s. The cubes of strawberries & pineapple tasted ok, melon cubes underripe. No artisan items here, no problem. Hey, beer on tap! Bubbly! Bottomless Mimosas for 90 minutes. Bloody Mary's!Despite my crabby nature, I'll recommend S&G for a quick meal when you're shopping in West Portal. Try an omelette, what could go wrong?

Pros: great location, friendly staff, quick service! My sister loves squat & gobble kale Caesar, and we had previously only been to the marina location until it shut down. We were excited to see how the food at this location compared. The ambiance is a lot nicer with high ceilings and a ton of natural lighting. Kale Caesar: 2/5 unfortunately either or recipe changed or it just didn't live up to the marina location salad. Had an excessive amount of black pepper seasoning that made it difficult to finishVeggie fajita crepe: 4/5 large portions! Potatoes are delicious. Iced lattes: 4/5 pretty standard, went well with the meal

Was seated quickly on a Saturday afternoon around 12p. Food took a bit of time to arrive even though it was somewhat empty, but the staff were really nice. Food was fine, would have liked more potatoes. The potato seasonings weren't evenly distributed, so I got a lot of wood-iness from the rosemary. Haven't been here in over 10 years and wanted to try it again, but might come back to try something else.

Everything we ordered was high quality and delicious. We got the salmon sandwich, which was unbelievably good. The dill sauce took it to the next level, and the fries were crispy and they give you A LOT. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and the overall flavors were great. We then got the Cobb salad with salmon and that was also perfectly cooked salmon. The dressing accompanying it was really good and brought all the flavors together. It was jammed packed with a lot of ingredients and I didn't feel like anything was skimped on. We had great picks that day, and excited to go back and try more.

Where better to grab a casual lunch then a corner table overlooking the west portal in a grey chilly day. Squats been a fav of mine for as long as they have been on this corner. From a wide range dishes from breakfast to entrees. Always something for someone. Today called for the fried chicken sandwhich with fries and iced tea. It was a feel good day. Super textures and flavors make this a delightful bite. The staff always make you smile and feel welcome with out making you feel like a "table to be turned"

**Squat and Gobble - A Culinary Adventure in Crepes**My visit to Squat and Gobble was a delightful culinary journey, featuring not only their signature Tuscany chicken pesto crepe but also a French onion soup and a steak salad that left a lasting impression.Starting with the French onion soup, it was a warm and comforting bowl of goodness. The broth was rich and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the caramelized onions and topped with a generous amount of melted cheese and a crispy crouton. Each spoonful was a taste of traditional French cuisine done right.Next, the steak salad was a refreshing and satisfying choice. Tender slices of steak were served on a bed of fresh mixed greens, tossed with a light vinaigrette dressing. The salad was topped with cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, and a sprinkle of crumbled blue cheese, adding a delightful tangy and savory contrast to the dish.Of course, the highlight was the Tuscany crepe. The crepe itself was expertly made, thin and crispy, enveloping tender chicken, fresh tomatoes, and a generous spread of flavorful pesto sauce. The combination of ingredients was spot on, with each bite offering a burst of Italian-inspired flavors. The menu at Squat and Gobble offers a diverse selection of crepes and other dishes, catering to both savory and sweet preferences. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal alone or with friends.Service was prompt and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience from start to finish. Despite the restaurant being busy during my visit, the staff managed the flow efficiently. While the seating area can feel a bit cramped during peak times, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience make Squat and Gobble a standout choice for anyone seeking delicious crepes and more.Overall, Squat and Gobble exceeded expectations with its flavorful dishes and friendly service. Whether you're craving crepes, soup, salad, or all of the above, this restaurant is a definite must-visit. Highly recommended!
