THE BAY'S BEST SMASH BURGER FINALLY HAS A PERMANENT HOME! Smish Smash has been a legendary pop-up for the last 5 years, slinging some of the best crispy, juicy smashburgers in the Bay Area. And now? They finally have a brick-and-mortar spot at Saluhall in SF! Their menu has six different smashburgers, and I tried the Signature--stacked with American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and their signature S1 sauce. But what really sets them apart? That signature smash sear. The crispy, lacey edges. The juicy, flavorful patties. Absolute perfection. And don't even get me started on their sauce--it's next-level. And if you see the Đặc Biệt special on the menu? GET IT. One of the most insane burgers I've ever had--it literally tastes like pho in burger form. The flavors are unreal.

BANGIN! Full disclosure it was like $25 (including tip) for the Signature, shoestring fries and relish mayo, & a Diet Coke which is crazy but it was def delicious. Fries perfectly seasoned and crispy and they STAYED crispy even after sitting for 15 mins while I ate. This lowkey might beat McDonald's fries for me... Smash burger was so delicious. The burger skirt was CRISPY, HONEY! The bun as soft as a pillow. Cheese ooey gooey and fabulously caramelized onions. Would absolutely recommend for a quick and yummy bite.

Had lunch at Saluhall and decided to try one of the few non-vegan eateries on site. The line and service at Smish Smash were super slow on a Sunday morning just before noon, but staff was friendly and professional at the register. The cheeseboiga was soooo juicy and flavorful, though a little oily. And the special mayo/ketchup sauce they gave me was a bit too tangy for my taste. The single patty was more than enough to fill me up. But I had to try the shoestring fries cuz I heard good things about it, and they were yummy and lived up to the hype, uniquely made with tallow. I'm definitely a fan.

Amazing smash burgers at Saluhall in IKEA! I've seen this place at Outside Lands but the lines were super long so I didn't get a chance to try. Was so happy to see they're a vendor at the IKEA food court. I got the OG burger, curly fries, and a sauce. I really wanted to try one of their specials but they didn't have any that day. The OG comes with cheese, onion, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and a sauce. All the classic burger toppings. It was so good! The patty was nice and caramelized and the veggies added a nice crunch. The curly fries were also great, very crispy. Overall it was a great meal. Definitely check this place out if you've been craving a burger! I went at 12pm for lunch and beat the lunch rush. At about 12:30-1pm there was a long line.

I was so excited when I heard Smish Smash opened a store front here in SF. I had tried their burgers at Outside Lands and quickly became a fan. Their new location is located in the food court at IKEAs Saluhall. We went on a Monday after work and there was no wait. It took about 10 mins or so to get our order. The burgers were 10/10 amazing & the fries were served hot and fresh. The food hall had a bar so you're able to order a drink to enjoy with your burger. They also had trivia going on and we would love to come back to join. All and all a great experience and can't wait to go back again sometime soon!

Saucy...Greasy....Hella messy....Beefy deliciousness!I know the TL and Market corridor may be scurry to some but the 20-minute walk to get to Smish Smash from the office was worth it! Think of it as a reward.East Bay pop-up turned food stall, Smish Smash opened in 1/25/25 inside Saluhall (IKEA-owned food hall). Once you enter the main entrance, they're located to the right.M E N USix kinds of Smash Burgers: Single 4 oz patty ($10-$13) or Double 4 oz x2 patties ($15-$18). Sub for an Impossible patty (+$2). Make it a combo w/ fries (+$4.50-$5). Self-serve water and canned/bottled drinks available.100% Grass-fed beef, Cheese Co. cheese, and Martin potato buns are used. Fries are fried in beef tallow. On the day I visited, they had no daily special. Per staff, their popular Dặc Biệt (phở inspired) Burger may be available again next month.F O O D* Cheeseboiga w/ american cheese, pickles, caramelized onions, vic mac sauce (Single-$13): https://tinyurl.com/49ys4an3- Sub pickles for pickled jalapeno (+$1)- Requested less salt (read reviews that it runs salty)What the burger lacked in appearance, made up in flavor. The beefy patty was juicy and flavorful with craggily, caramelized edges (not lacy or crispy tho) and melty cheese. Cradled between a soft, squishy [smushed] bun with grilled onions (not caramelized) and vic mac sauce (like big mac sauce). They go hard on the creamy sauce which dripped all over my hands.IMO, a single patty was enough, otherwise it would have been too heavy and greasy.I requested to sub the pickles for pickled jalapenos (same price as a side) and wasn't told there would be an extra charge (+$1). Not a big deal but the pickled jalapenos were too sweet, neither spicy nor acidic.Probably a matter of kinks but scanning through the pics, I noticed inconsistencies in the patties and buns. Some patties have crispy, lacy edges, some don't. Some buns are smushed and toasted on the top, some aren't.* Make it a Combo w/ Shoestring Fries (+$4.50)- Includes choice of sauce: S1 (ketchup + mayo) or S2 (mayo + relish)- Requested no saltSolid, hot and crispy fries with the beef tallow adding extra richness. I choose the S1 sauce and it was ok. I usually like ketchup and mayo sauces but this one lacked tang.* Everything Sauce (+$2)Per staff, this is their favorite sauce and that it was spicy. I don't mind paying for bomb sauce but the ají verde (not housemade) was mehhh. I was hoping it would add tang and heat to the burger but it was on the bland side, and not spicy at all (to me).S E R V I C ECordial and prompt. No line at the time and my order was ready in about 5 minutes (they deliver it to you).A M B I A N C ESpacious two-level food hall with plenty of seating and two full bars. Clean restrooms (security guard will let you in). P A R K I N GGarage parking underneath Ikea (entrance on 440 Stevenson). Overall, it was a hella delicious smash burger but execution/presentation needs some work for consistency's sake. IMO, Smish Smash is the one of the two top food stalls in Saluhall (vegan centric). When I return for their Dặc Biệt, hopefully they've worked out the kinks!

Heard a lot of good things about Smish Smash, and was pretty excited about them opening up a place downtown. They didn't have any specials for Saturday (2/15/25). The burgers here are a bit pricey, a double Signature combo ($18 double burger and $4.50 shoe string fries) was over $20. Overall, it was still worth it, but for the price, it does seem like they'd be the kind of place that makes some of their own ingredients. I'm not sure it's the case though. The burgers are really saucy and taste good, but all the flavor comes from the american cheese and sauce. American cheese in general can be pretty salty so I guess it's not necessary to season the meat well, but you can taste that the flavors aren't balanced across each layer. Anyways, I feel like things could be balanced better if they made their own ingredients, that way they can control how much salt is going in at each step; it just feels like it would justify the price a bit more. Didn't get a picture, but the fries are actually shoestring now. They're much skinnier than some of the other pictures of normal fries I see on here.

Welp, apparently the vegan burger place that used to be here didn't do so well. Pretty big crowd for the real beef smash burgers. Also, love the turnaround that even the fries aren't vegan here, since they're cooked in beef tallow.Signature Double: It looked a bit discordant. Cheap hamburger bun from a bag, served on a small paper plate, looked like it something out of your cheap uncle's cookout. But thankful it's what inside that matters! Two immensely long and crispy smash patties, that taste delicious. A decent amount of cheese, in the center, and some nice "S1" sauce, whatever that this. I liked that the only veggies were pickles and grilled onions. Really delicious.Cheeseboiga Double: Very similar to the Signature. This was supposed to have caramelized onions, but they seemed more like the grilled onions used in the signature; they were more white than brown color. The sauce was nice, kinda reminded me of Big Mac sauce.Shoestring Fries: I'm not one of those weird anti-seed-oils podcast fanboys or anything, but I was excited to see beef tallow. I mean it makes sense if you're selling cow burgers, might as well cook the fries in cow fat. It's not quite as indulgent as duck fat fries, but it was rich and crispy.Curly Fries: Fun to eat with the curly shape. Lightly spiced. Since they're bigger, I tended to eat them faster without thinking about it.S2 Sauce: A sauce choice came with the fries. Wasn't a fan, since it was a bit too sweet. It was kinda like mayonnaise and relish mixed together.S1 Sauce: Definitely liked this more than the S2. Not chunky and not too sweet, though only a hint of sweet.

TLDR:Tasty smash burgers and fries inside the recently opened "Saluhall" food hall next to the IKEA in Downtown San Francisco just half a block from San Francisco Centre. Friendly enthusiastic service.Ordering:Walk right up, study the menu, place your order,Get handed a buzzy pager while you wait a couple of minutes while your burger is prepared. It took me a few minutes to decide what I wanted as the burgers all seemed rather similar, but in the end, I decided to go with their OG Burger with just a single patty. I ordered their combo which results in a side of fries costing only an extra $4.50 instead of $7 when ordered ala carte. They have a specials menu too, with a limited edition mushroom sandwich that I could have ordered.Living up to their name, the trendy "smash" burger you get is a crazy thin lacy almost crunchy beef patty served on a fluffy burger bun with your choice of condiments inside per their menu. Want more beef? You can double up any burger for just a couple of dollars more. No beef? You can substitute an Impossible burger patty or no patty at all.. As for me, I asked for grilled onions instead of the raw ones that usually come standard with the OG burger. Good burger and on point! To my great surprise, the curly fries were the big standout here. They were the best curly fries I have ever had.. delightfully tender on the inside as expected but with a beautiful exquisitely delicate crunch as you bite into each one. 12/10 in my book! Wow..Enjoy your meal in a pleasant peaceful dining area with organic natural wood decor all around.Getting here is easy by transit either by numerous SF Muni bus and F streetcar line just outside. Even the Powell St Cable Car terminus is just a block away, along with the Powell Street BART/MUNI underground station entrance on the same block. Car access is simple too if you park at the massive 3rd & Mission Street Garage around the corner.Next time, I look forward to trying their "Cheeseboiga" with the caramelized onions.
