This is actually a review of both Cafeterias. They both get 1/2 a star, which equals one collective star. It is that bad. The situation is dire. With the exception of the soft serve, which is often out of service, there is nothing on offer that I consider edible. I used to have to eat this crap EVERY day. No wonder I was a walking corpse. The staff here look waifish and jaundiced, and I think it's all thanks to the dining options available to them. I mean, it's a hospital, NOT a restaurant. But still...there's no excuse for this mess. Walking down the line with your tray is like playing a guessing game...it's almost impossible to identify this crap by sight alone. Beef up on the fresh veggies, fruits, and pre-packaged sandwiches (Panini Time, perhaps???) already, SFGH!!! UCSF and Kaiser have you B-E-A-T! **There's a snack shop in the Mental Health Rehabilitation Building that rocks my snack-loving world. But unfortunately, you have to work IN that building to access it, as far as I know...

This place charges an arm and a leg for everything! I have a love/hate relationship with this cafe because sometimes I like their specials (spaghetti, rotisserie chicken, taco salad), but some other things I've tried I really wish I didn't even touch. It's gross when they package the previous day special and sell it the next day from the refrigerator. I like the breakfast burritos (they buy them from a store in the north bay). Overall, I come here because it's convenient not because of the quality of food.Pros: convenient for workers.Cons: not the best food you can pay for and expect to pay a lot of money for nothing.

If it weren't for Cafe Nightingales I could not survive working at "The General." I'd either be in the ER or dead in the parking lot. Not in my office being productive. $1 bagels! Best Veggie Lasanga eva!Garlic bread!Great salads!Kombucha!Everyday pit stop. These folks take care of me and I love em for it.

The service here is poor, and the food is less than mediocre. I've given Cafe Nightingales numerous chances. I have tried their spaghetti, chili, salads, and sandwiches. I just can't do it anymore. If you are in the General and need a bite to eat, walk outside the hospital. There are tons of other places to eat nearby that are way better than this spot.

The salads are good and not exposed to the public and their scummy hands...all of you. I'm a germaphobe! They have lattes. Desserts...YUM! A DELICIOUS vegetarian sandwich and I'm a meat eater. Only problem is their hours are never consistent. If you are on evening shift try to make it before 7pm because who knows when they will close.

Saves me every work day with low cost, healthy meals. They're helpful and nice workers and the hospital offers as many healthy options as they can with an up to date recycling program too.

Bad experience just today... SOME of the staff and THE owners always have an attitude... Especially the the cook who always wears a beanie/hair-net (whatever that is...). If you guys already know you guys messed up, just apologize and be nice. Being defensive and giving ATTITUDE does not help at all with your already jacked-up situation. Anyway, what happened was I ordered, my name was called after a while, and the guy with the glasses confirmed it was the one I ordered. So I walked back to my office and saw that it was not my order. So I have to walk back all the way there and returned it because I have someones order. So I knock on the kitchen's door I was like, "you guys gave me someone's order" (in a very polite way) and the guy was like, "Oh yeah, now we got this persons order back(talking to another staff), Did you touch it... blah blah blah... "I am going to kill you."(as if i grabbed someone else's food on purpose --and noooot a good time to joke.). I was like ahaha. So they were checking the brown bag/s-- seems like it was my order. It was ready. So I was like,"Is that it?"(talking to the person checking it). I got a reply from this cook, "Woah slowww down tiger" I was like ahaha( excuse me, a simple apology would be more approriate than a comment like that ). Unlike you, we do not have all the time in the world as we have to clock in on time... so do not tell me to sloooowwwww down. This happened twice now, to me and my friend... messing up our orders and also consuming our lunch time. Another time, my friend ordered and they gave it to someone else! So then, they have to make it again and we have to wait for at least thirty minutes because they have lots of customers who already ordered after us and are waiting. These people always mess-up!!!! Also, YOU! YOU, should sloooowwwww down with that attitude TIGER!!!!! Lafayette (character from TRUeBLooD), is that you?! NO STARS!!!!
