Saw this stand at the fort mason market. I got the chocolate pistachio croissant, which was delicious and flaky and buttery. I was hoping for pistachio filling but the croissant just had nuts on the outside. Slightly disappointed by that but overall a very high quality pastry.

These are some of the best kept secrets at the Ferry Building Farmers Market. I LOVE their chocolate raspberry croissant. It's perfectly flaky and not too sweet or heavy. But the flavor combo is balanced to perfection.I would recommend going early if you're at any of their pop up locations because they tend to go fast! Price: $Overall: 9.8/10Must Get: everything haha

Saltwater Bakeshop is an excellent and tempting local bakery at various farmers' markets (here, on Clement Street) with a brick & mortar store in San Mateo. We bought the full loaf of cracked whole wheat sourdough: Delicious, toothsome and hearty, it made a great grilled cheese sandwich and morning toast. The current knockout was their "Bake A Difference" French toast with cheese and exotic mushrooms sprinkled with chopped parsley ($6.50). With a salad, it's lunch.Bread, savory items, pastries, everything delicious. They accept credit cards.

Saltwater Bakeshop brought their magic to the Fort Mason Farmers Market San Francisco.Almost guilt free options were available via their Croissants, Muffins, Danishes, Toasts, and more. I'd say come to Fort Mason for the Fruit & Veg but leave with a Saltwater Pastry.

3.5 stars overall but rounding up. I've had Saltwater Bakeshop on my radar for a while, but wasn't in SF on the weekends when they're at the Farmer's Markets (Saturday: Ferry Building from 8am-2pm / Sunday: 244 Clement Street from 9am-2pm & Fort Mason Center @ Marina Blvd from 9:30am-1:30pm). You can also place an order via Pastel, but have to pay for the markups to use that platform. I was finally in the city on a Saturday morning, and stopped by to check them out at the Ferry Building Farmer's Market. They are located outside, to the right of the Ferry Building. Walk past the crazy long line for Roli Roti, and they were maybe 8 booths down on the right. They still had a full selection available at 10:30am, and I tried:[https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=jUKyyF2R0V0jA4abyJFtLw&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg]-Chocolate Pistachio Croissant (Topped w/Housemade Pistachio Cream, Roasted Pistachios, $5.75): I loved how flaky their croissant was, and the chocolate filling wasn't too sweet. The pistachio cream on top wasn't very flavorful though, and it was a little on the dry side.-Almond Croissant (Topped w/Housemade Almond Cream, Slivered Almonds, $5.75): Solid almond croissant, and again, very flaky. I thought this croissant had more flavor than the pistachio, and I would order this again. In addition to pastries, they also have a variety of bread options. Although their items are priced on the higher side, you can tell they use quality ingredients. I'll be back to try their passion fruit kouign amman and breads! Staff were still wearing masks although the mandate has been lifted, and they had hand sanitizer. They don't have a designated seating area, but there are places to sit outside around the ferry building (not fancy, think cement ledges). Parking around this area can be incredibly tough during the weekends, and the metered parking spots that are closer are pricey. There are a couple of parking garages nearby.

I absolutely love Saltwater Bakeshop - it is my favorite bakery in the area and I truly wish they had their own bakery store somewhere in the peninsula so it would be easier to get to than SF! As of early 2023 they are at 4 different farmers market but unfortunately all too deep into the city so it's hard for me to get to consistently. It's also quite hard to park at the clements farmers market. Now they are at a couple of coffee stores in SF as well so there are some more options. I love their monthly menu - usually the bakers loaf choice is always amazing (the elote sourdough loaf in the summer is sooo delicious and unique!) and their croissants are amazinggggg! Their ham and cheese and the almond pistachio are the absolute best!

If you haven't visited your local farmers market to get fresh bread and pastries, you're seriously missing out! Located at the Fort Mason's farmer's market and the Clement St farmer's market, on Sundays, Saltwater Bakery is a farmer's market-only bakeshop specializing in sourdough bread and decadent croissants. - Sourdough Loaf- French Baguette - Classic Croissant - Seasonal Fruit Danish - French Toast - Almond Croissant - Chocolate Pistachio - Pan Au Chocolat - Cinnamon Twist We tried an entire array of their products and they were all fantastic! The baguette and sourdough load were perfectly crisp on the exterior yet soft and wonderful on the inside. We used the sourdough loaf to make avocado toast and it was excellent!! As for the pastries, each was was indulgent and delicious. My favorites were the Chocolate Pistachio and the Almond Croissant. The chocolate pistachio was loaded with cholate and pistachio chunks which were super flavorful while the almond croissant not only was topped with decadent almonds but also filled inside.

Stumbled upon this vendor at the Ferry Building Farmers market and so glad I did. Finally, a bakery that sells a petite sized sourdough bread. Normally I skip out on bread because a regular sized loaf is just too much bread. Especially those massive sourdough rounds you find at the grocery store. Even the artisanal batards are too big. Saltwater's petite sourdough though, is just the right size. And it's really good. What a treat

Discovered this bakery at the farmer's market at the ferry building yesterday. This review is only for the chocolate pistachio croissant. That's all I ordered. It was heavenly! The crunch and flakiness of the outside ... AHHHmazing. There was a nice thick layer of the pistachio filling which was perfection. I loved everything abt this croissant. I'm a fan. I'll be back to try more goodies for sure and I will always buy a chocolate pistachio croissant.

Ran into this new-ish stand at the Ferry Building Farmers Market on Saturdays. So many delicious looking pastries! Everything I tried thus far has been great.Chocolate Raspberry Croissant: A large colorful croissant with bright red bands that go all the way through. Though the red parts of the dough don't taste particularly much like raspberry. However, the dense chocolate ganache piped in from the bottom had some strong raspberry notes. Though it's kinda all in one small clump, so you don't get a consistent flavor throughout most of your croissant experience.Chocolate Chip Cookie: Who doesn't love a chocolate chip cookie? Theirs was kinda luxurious though with big chunks of chocolate throughout and a little salt on top. I liked how it stayed gooey whilst at room temperature.Baguette: Going back to the basics, it's always worth trying a classic bread option. And theirs was really good, with a nice crunchy crust and chewy inside. Gives Acme Bakery some strong competition.Mushroom Focaccia: A lot of flavor packed into this simple piece of bread. Of course, tons of umami from the cooked mushrooms. But even the little bits of salt crystals against the olive oil golden crust added a nice tone. Basically devoured this.Asparagus Croissant: Cheese and cooked asparagus baked into the middle of a flaky croissant. Loved all the flavors going on. Really felt like spring. However, it seemed like the asparagus pieces were a bit too thick and maybe several medium-sized stalks would have been better.Strawberry Rhubarb French Toast: Was more like toast with a little glaze on top than soggy eggy French toast. Though still very tasty. Liked the fresh combination of strawberries and rhubarb on top, though could have went with a higher rhubarb ratio.
