Hi everyone,Royal Bakery was owned by my grandpa, Isaac Monroy, for several decades. He was well known, respected, and loved in the community. Unfortunately, he passed away just 4 days after his 80th birthday, on September 30th of this year. My grandpa loved nothing more than providing his delicious homemade treats and bread to his loyal customers. If you happen to see this review and are able to, please swing by and try something out! My family could use as much support as possible right now, and my grandpa's only wish was to continue the legacy of his prized bakery forever. Thank you to the thousands of customers who've enjoyed my grandpa Isaac's company and baking over the years. He deeply loved every one of you, and this legacy wouldn't be possible with you all

I recently tried Royal Bakery for the fresh bread goods. As much as we all try to avoid carbs, the freshness of newly baked bread wins over store bought anything. Plus buying local is where it's at in my city, I prefer smaller family businesses that make fresh goods over big box stores. I stocked up on a couple pistoletas, small rolls perfect for mini sandwiches. I also got a fresh foccacia bread and 5 lb bag of bread crumbs for cooking. I use bread crumbs as breading for chicken, fish or chile rellenos. Fresh bread crumbs make all the difference. My nephew loves the banana bread here, seriously I've seen that kid eat an entire loaf by himself. It must be good.

It's midnight and Chong and I follow our noses to a doorway emitting a fabulous aroma and freshly baked sourdough."WTF, ARE WE JUST HELLA HIGH CHEECH????" "NO BZ, THERE REALLY IS FRESHLY BAKED BREAD COMING FROM THIS........ro-yal....ba-king CO." I said as I read the large painted letters on the buildingI live and breathe excelsior, I'm one of the tragic few that lived here for far too long. I would pass by Royal Baking Co. everyday and never know where the entrance was or if they were even open. I finally found the opening and learned the store hours! I felt like I unlocked a secret level in a video game or something. The following events reminded me so much of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Chong and I walk closer to the door and we just inhale deeply and kept squealing "OMG THIS SCENT IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD". it drew attention towards us and the sons owner came out and entertained us, asking us if we wanted a tour of the mini factory but we reluctantly declined. He gave us 2 personal sized pieces of sourdough, warm and fresh out of the oven, at midnight.Chong and I have the best adventures.

Recently moved to the area and I heard so much about their churros I decided to check them out. I stopped by during the week and nobody was at the counter. 2 minutes later a lady appears and says "no churros today, only Saturdays. Sometimes Fridays." I go back in a Saturday with my sister and nephews super excited. Again no one was at the counter. Finally a lady shows up and in a rude voice says "no churros today!" Heart broken we all went home and will not be coming back....

my family has been getting bread here for over 40 years. In the last few years they have gone down in quality and service. I put in an order for Easter Sunday with one of the women who works there. My order was not there when I went to pick up. She is always tired and sleepy. She doesn't know how much anything cost. Another woman that works there said that I could pick up my order on Monday. How crazy is that. Easter is already gone by then.

Shut down! Without any notice, Royal Bakery is no more. Too bad. Does anybody know if they'll re-open?

Royal Bakery was once the best in making bread. We always purchased 3 or 4 of the bastone, but it's now been around 1year and their bread is going downhill. I believe the person making the bread has left or retired and the new crew does not know what they are doing. The bread seems to be hard even though it's in the fresh rack. Also you end up eating only the inside because the whole crust comes off. There are no more good bread bakeries in the area or in San Francisco that I know of.
