I have been coming here for years, every time I'm in the area I stop by to get a couple pieces of pan. The selection wasn't as big as normal, I got a couple quesadillas. Not as flavorful as I remembered, still good but could use a little more cheese. The empanadas were a little dry and barely had any filling, the little filling they had was flavorful. We got the guava, pineapple, and milk. The empanadas were my favorite this pan this visit. We got a few more kinds but don't know the names, they were ok not the best. They do offer a lot of different items, snacks, beans, cheese, sour cream, and tamales. We will give them another try in a few months

** The following review reflects my experience prior to the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. **I couldn't tell you the difference between a pastelería and a repostería, but I can tell you where Rico Pan is. It was at the midpoint of my long walk on Mission when I could take long walks on Mission. I'm the type that turns his head to look at edible temptations and then experience a momentarily hangry anxiety attack before continuing on my walk. On one particularly vulnerable stroll, I turned more than my head.I turned my entire bulbous body and witnessed the wide variety of Salvadoreno baked goods on display. After some fist-biting, I decided on the Pineapple Turnover (photo: https://bit.ly/2KhYXch). OK, a Pan Dulce with some kind of red sugar crystals, but that was it, I swear (photo: https://bit.ly/3cwvsPY). Delish, not nearly as sweet as I feared, and I still don't know the difference between a pastelería and a repostería. Stand back, San Salvador!BAKED GOODS - 4 stars...lots of goodies here with even more calories AMBIANCE - 3 stars...it's a bakerySERVICE - 3.5 stars...bagging was involvedTOTAL - 4 stars...turning more than my headRELATED - Exploring this part of Mission Street? Walked past this bakery and decided to stop by because it smelled SO GOOD!! We didn't know any of the selections or what they tasted like and the two workers were so helpful and kind. They helped explain to us what fillings were in some of the breads and made it easy for us to decide what to order. The sugared donut was so so good. The bread was really moist and soft even though it was a little cold. We also had the conchas and they were really good - not too sweet and just the right amount. This bread was really the highlight of my day and the workers/owners were so nice! Definitely recommend

I would give no stars if I could... the older guy and nice guy were nice, but when I ate the pastry with the yellow filling I seen that there was mold on the bottom of it... mind you I ate some already and have left the area already.. I assumed the rest of them were bad and moldy; mainly just hard.. I was so dissatisfied because I thought I was going to enjoy this yet I didn't and I wasn't feeling too great after eating those pastries.. only one star because their service was great..

The yummy, sweet smell of fresh baked goods is what brought me to this bakery. I was dropping off my car at an auto body shop right across the street from this bakery. My nose was tempted by the lovely smell coming from Rico Pan.I walked in and was greeted by a lady working the front counter. Rico Pan is known for their delicious Salvadoran goodies, and let me just tell you-those baked goods look totally tasty and delicious. Sadly, there are no labels on the pastries, so I was left alone just staring at all the ones that "looked " good. To call it safe, I ordered the breakfast sandwich that had egg, bacon and red bean inside. The bread was SO moist and reminded me of the Hawaiian bread taste; so damn delicious, it just melted in my mouth. The other pastries did look great as well, but it didn't want to take a chance and order something I didn't like. Next time, I will make sure to do more research on what goodies I should order.P.S.-They also serve coffee (for all you morning coffee addicts!)I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if I am in the neighborhood I would come by again.

Mmmm, if you haven't tried this place - please go and feel free to thank me later. If you have had Latin American style pastries, you will love Rico Pan. Although I see them selling a lot of Salvadoreno bread, I personally like the pastelitos. Baked little mini pastries filled with pineapple, apple and custard. Yum, yum and more yum. I like them hot. My friend Jillian and I went in the other day and went for the pastelitos and a bavarian creme filled churro. We split that, because everyone knows that sharing is caring AND half a pastry is half the calories!
