I was in search of a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco that wasn't insanely busy at 6.30 pm and which had some open parking spaces nearby, and this was the one that fit the bill. The old-style glossy interior was in fact nearly deserted, which is normally a very bad sign at that hour, but behold, the food was pretty good. My cumin lamb (not a dish you'll find everywhere) was lean slices of lamb that did in fact taste of cumin (not always true), though not at all spicy, combined with slices of onion and bell pepper. Nice-tasting food; quantity quite satisfactory.Only problem was that, though the service was friendly, the food delivery was slow. My order was taken with reasonable dispatch, but it took something like half an hour before my pot sticker appetizer arrived, and longer still for the entree. At least it came with a simple apology for the time.

This is our go-to take out place. They make dishes that most other restaurants do not and today's order is not a reflection of that.Quality/Quantity - Today we got the following for the Lunar New Year potluck we were attending:Walnut Prawns $18.95 - Always a hit, and first item to be eaten at our potlucks.Beef Simmered in Five Chinese Spices $14.95 - I actually liked this, but no one else ate it...Marinated Jellyfish $15.95 - Good, always consistent.Beef Chow fun $15.95 - Just okay. Surprised that so few people ate this dish, including my daughter as that is her go to item.We also picked up a whole fish, but another guest at the potluck ordered and paid.We offered to pick up since we were going there anyway.Atmosphere - Small local restaurant.Metered street parking, good luck. Easy for us as we do pick up. One person waits in the car and the other runs in and picks up.Open 7 days a week from 11am to 8pm.Service - Good. It helps that we are regular customers.Price - $72.Also a 25¢ charge for each to-go container and bag, see picture.Owner Comment - Congrats on your success for 40+ years! We have been customers for a long time.

Walk through these doors into 1975. Furniture and menu intact.Skip the sesame bread, but other things are fine. Family place. A good place to sit for long chat with friends or family, drinking tea and ordering another dish.

+ Authentic Shanghainese and Szechuan cuisines, even though the name of the temple restaurant is Peking. If you like Shanghainese or Szechuan food, you won't be disappointed. + Attentive service + Free Chinese dessert after dinner+ They have been in business for 40+ years. It's a San Francisco legacy.+ No wait on a Sunday night. We got seated right away. Lots of tables for seating.+ No frill. But nice and clean. Great for family dinner.

I used to come here a lot as it's close to my house and the lady here is super nice. One night I ordered Mongolian beef to go. When I got home I saw that was half onion (both yellow and green) and the meat had that weird mouthfeel when left in a baking soda bath for too long. The kicker is, when I home and dumped it onto a plate so I could get rid of half the onions I noticed about 1 cm of the bottom was filled with what looked like old, chopped up noodles...as if to fool me with some sort of filler! Seriously cheesy move there...Won't be going back.

The food is always consistent when the head chef is in. Nancy is super friendly when greeting and serving tables. High quality ingredients for dishes. Best sour and spicy soup in town, hands down. One of my takeout restaurants in SF.
