It's a sentimental thing with Park Tavern! We used to come here with our dogs in the summer, eating oysters and deviled eggs with bubbly outdoors and then it closed...it's been 3 yrs or so since thenWe are back! New ownership and chef are great! The renovation is phenomenal, what a gorgeous space, service is impeccable and the food is great. It's a simple and short menu but everything is made right, flavor, presentation, quality... we'll come back to try everything. This time we had the oysters, the mignonette and the granita were fabulous, the crudo was exceptional, the carrots were perfect and the NY steak was a marvel. Great job guys ;)

I popped into Park Tavern for a quick drink before dinner, but ended up staying WAY longer than expected (sorry, Original Joe's -- we missed our reservation)! My friends and I were celebrating a birthday, and thanks to the amazing hospitality from Raul and Shane, we ended up having the most unforgettable evening. The vibe was perfect -- cozy yet vibrant, with the energy of a true neighborhood gem. We kicked things off with some delightful bar snacks and a round of drinks, but hours later, we'd somehow managed to try just about everything on the menu! Every dish was a masterpiece, but the Tuna Crudo? Absolute perfection. The flavors were so fresh and delicate, I could've eaten it all night. And don't even get me started on the ragù... it was heavenly, rich and satisfying, with a depth of flavor that hit all the right notes. For dessert, the Lemon Pistachio Cake blew me away -- it was light, zesty, and the perfect balance of sweetness. It's easily one of the best desserts I've had in a long time! Paired with incredible Italian wines and cocktails (I'm pretty sure we lost count of how many Sayulitas we had ), it was a night to remember.Raul and Shane, thank you both for going above and beyond to make our experience special! Your service, recommendations, and friendly energy are what keep me coming back to this neighborhood favorite. Can't wait to return soon!

First: people are reviewing this place in two locations. Some are posting to the old place that closed in 2023: https://www.yelp.com/biz/park-tavern-san-franciscoThe new incarnation opened Q42024 and is here: https://www.yelp.com/biz/park-tavern-san-francisco-5? (where you're reading this) The old place has strong reviews. The new one has few and they are justifiably tepid. The positive ones are suss, note "Gavin" cross-posting identical 5 star reviews to both sites, only 5 reviews total, those are red flags. See the review from Al R. for a more accurate picture. I've been twice, once for drinks and appetizer before Christmas and again last weekend with a large party. This second time, service was improved. I noted a gentleman in a suit who was moving among all the tables and tweaking service issues, he gave us a good share of attention and the experience was better for it. The food is a problem. It was hit and miss. Appetizers were fine: fried calamari and oysters hit the spot. The wilted romaine was just OK to me, thought it would come out a little hotter. The jw Red Pepper pancakes were tiny bites at three for $27, but I don't know what the caviar and smoked salmon cost. Wouldn't order again. For mains, one of our party declared the black cod perfectly done. But if it was sablefish, that has the reputation of being almost impossible to overcook, so . . . Another member found the salmon seeming disappointingly "not fresh" and had to send back a martini that was incorrectly made. I had the duck ragu and found it bland. Still another buddy loved the jw chicken and said it was the best annual outing dinner we have had (It's the 16th year we have done this, most often at Izzy's but they were closed). Service was attentive and personable. I think it's getting better every week overall. They just put a menu up on the website, that took about a month. In short, the recent lukewarm reviews seem accurate to me. At the prices they charge, ($17 cocktails) I think SF diners expect a higher degree of consistency and execution. It might get there, I hope they have deep pockets, but the clientele here may not give it much time as word of mouth spreads.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at this restaurant! Shane was the perfect host--so friendly and knowledgeable. He recommended some of his favorite dishes, and each one was a culinary delight. Every part of the meal was exceptional, from the refreshing Prosecco to the perfectly crafted martinis. The staff was incredibly attentive and made the experience even more enjoyable. A standout for us was the tuna tartare, which was simply the best we've ever had. I'll be telling everyone about this place--it was truly a remarkable dining experience!

I was shocked to find the dishes ordered looked nothing like the photos - mostly the pancakes with Caviar. We did not receive as many pancakes as the photo showed and definitely a tiny portion of Caviar for the price. And as another diner mentioned, my steak was very overdone and they were fussy about taking it back. I clearly said, rare to medium rare. Sad to see an old favorite come to such bad end.

Drinks were great by bartender Doug. My friends and I started with calamari which was crispy, hot and delicious. Three of my friends had black cod which they all said was delicious served with perfectly cooked cauliflower and broccoli. I had jw chicken which was tender and moist. We also shared Castelfranco salad which was delicious and generous enough to serve four with a little leftover. our dessert was Affogato shared also delicious and not to sweet. Server was also very accommodating. A must restaurant to put on your list to try. Enjoy.

From start to finish, this was a delightful meal. My friends and I shared everything. We started with the crudo, oysters and kale Caesar. I didn't think it was possible to have a favorite kale Caesar but, I have found it. The kale must have been tenderized somehow and the dressing was like biting into Umami heaven. I would go back for that kale Caesar alone. The pork chop Milanese (like a schnitzel) was enormous! Perfectly seasoned and crispy like a schnitzel should be. The pasta was amazing as was the Sea Bass--the butter sauce was worth the visit as well. Our waiter, Basilio, was so good--he really took care of us throughout the meal. He recommended (with tastings) some delightful Italian wines which paired so nicely with the meal.We loved the ambiance, open kitchen and "movie set" bar and tiled floors. Unlike some of the other reviews, it was not loud and I am usually sensitive to that. I'd love to sit at the bar or chef's table next time because I felt so welcomed and appreciated by the staff.

This is harsh but I don't know why they bothered reopening after all these years if this food is the best they can come up with. There are so many good restaurants in SF, they need to make some drastic changes quickly if they're going to make it. The restaurant was maybe 40% full at 7pm on a Saturday. The menu is boring and none of the food we had was good. The only items we had that were of adequate quality was the tuna crudo and the chicken, and somehow even the French fries that came with the chicken were bad- over cooked and the oil had a weird bitter flavor. Salmon was nearly raw (although I didn't bother sending it back) and covered in a slimy sweet sauce. The cooked oysters were flat out disgusting, I'm just glad we didn't get sick. The side of Brussel sprouts were honestly the worst I've ever had at any restaurant, it was as if they were precooked and then reheated it a microwave. The texture was similar to what you'd expect to be served on an airplane. The service was good as is the location and interior space which is how I arrive at 2 stars.
