Came to Old Pier Hong Kong BBQ for dinner which offers both a la carte or "set" menu options. I say "set" only because you get to select from a small list for each category (soup, entrees, fish, etc) which is a pretty neat concept in my opinion. We went with the set for 4-5 and honestly, the food was probably enough for 6 modest appetites. And at $78, that's a pretty good value! My favorite dish of the night was the roast pork which had that nice crackling skin, crisp meat, and buttery fat. They also serve it with sugar which is something you don't see as often but very HK style. Other good dishes included the sautéed beans which were crisp and fresh, the crab and fish maw soup which wasn't too thick and featured a decent amount of both premium ingredients, and the pepper beef ribs which were tender and had good flavor. The onions were also carmelized nicely so they weren't just inedible filler (sorry, I'm not the biggest fan of raw onions).Service is as expected from a Chinese restaurant so don't set expectations too high. The floor is also kind of greasy so just watch your step.

Affordable and reliable old-school Chinese restaurant! I came here with a large group on a Sunday afternoon and we were the only table dining in, although they seemed to be pumping out takeout orders. We ordered ~10 dishes and each and every one was delicious! The highlights were the salted egg yolk prawn and pumpkin, garlic eggplant, and sweet and sour fish. Can't beat the value here!

The last time I ate here was with my family and I remember their set dinner being a good value. My parents wanted to buy some 烧肉 Roasted Pork ($14.00/lb), so came by here right as they opened. It's sold by weight, and our piece was $23.20. +Skin was crispy+Not too fatty-Tasted smoky, but not in a good way: Kinda like the taste of foods that are fried in old oil.-Pork didn't taste fresh, which is probably why it was very salty (to mask the quality)*Verdict: One of the worst Chinese roasted pork I've ever had and would definitely not repurchase. In addition, the butcher initially refused to let us pick the piece we wanted. If I'm in the area, I might return for their set dinners.

Tried Old Pier recently and was very impressed with the food selection and decent pricing. Cooked hot food items in the front window can be ordered to eat at your table as well. I hear the BBQ pork is excellent here. Food quality was very good overall but will have to come back to try more dishes. Went on a week day for lunch and the restaurant was not busy and only a few tables had guests so should be easy to get a table. May be busy for dinner and weekends. The wait staff was friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. Manager (owner) later came out and was very gracious and accommodating. Restaurant was open airy and had an upscale feeling to it.Huge menu selection of individual dishes, set menu options and hot pot. We ordered the 6-7 person $98 menu. Highlight is the Peking Duck with steamed buns! Honorable mentions include the Pumpkin with Shrimp and the Dry Scallop and Crab fried rice. Worth a visit to try!

We really beat the crowd. There was no one there. $48 for 1 to 2 person. Really like the decor. Pretty. Pick soup: Westlake beef soup (tofu, ground meat), pick the meat: empress chicken, pick entree (beef rib black pepper) meat was a bit tough but the sauce was good. And pick a rice or noodles. Include house veggies. Today was green beans, very crunchy. Got vegetable noodles with lots of veggies. Food got cold fast. Nothing came piping hot. The guy who served us was indifferent. Didn't serve the soup.

Came on a Friday night at 6pm and it was surprisingly dead inside. My parents and I got the meal set for 2-3 people and it ended up being enough for us (3 people) and we still had leftovers. We got the roast pork, roast duck, fried rice, green beans, twice cooked pork, and fish maw soup. The food was really good actually. The only item I didn't love was the twice cooked pork - it wasn't as melt in my mouth as usual and the pork was cut really unevenly. The reason I gave 3 stars was because we received really bad service from the male server. He clunked all of our dishes down, didn't say what it was, didn't offer to serve the soup (we would have said no anyway but the offer would have been nice), gave us our oranges (as dessert) right after he gave us the last entree dish we ordered. Felt rude and rushed and he was horrible. Everyone else was nice though.

Local Chinese bbq shop. The stir fry stuff is ok: Chinese bbq is decent. I like it more than others as the meat is typically less fatty and good flavors. Service is alright. Ambiance is like any other Chinese restaurant. Prices are decent. About $15-20/person.

We randomly picked this place for dinner on our way home. We ordered the set dinner C for four adults and three kids. Of course had some leftovers. The set dinner is said to feed 6-7 people. Pretty good value for the price and generous portions except the beef short ribs and the string beans were on the smaller side in comparison to the rest of the dishes. In the way out, I checked out their bbq station. Their soy sauce chicken that looks a pretty good! See picture attached for prices. It was an early Thursday night around 5:30pm when we arrived and finished a bite before 7pm. I was surprised that it was very quiet there. During our dinner, there was only another big table next to us and another smaller table. Service was very fast since it wasn't busy. Flavor was also pretty decent, not overly salty nor oily, which I don't like. Sweet and sour fish was crispy and lightly breaded. I was surprised to see this dish because it too much work and most of the place don't make them anymore. Although, it not as traditionally done due to the selection of ish they used, but it was still very flavorful. Will kept this place on my list as one of the stops in the area. Another surprise was that they didn't charge for take out containers nor plastic bags for our leftover. Everywhere in the city charges for bag fees and takeout containers fees. I didn't see the charges on my check. Another plus!

Outside of icebox climate in the store, all the food is well prepared. Can't beat the 98 dollar set menu that includes Peking Duck. The salted egg fried shrimp and pumpkin is really good too! Have gone there 3 times in one week! Taking a break though. Wait staff very nice. Bring a jacket and an empty stomach.
