We used to go to the location in Redwood City because that was the only one. Now? Damn if there isn't one in every city ... they seem to be exploding everywhere! This is one of my all time favs and we got a few things to go from this place close to our condo. Their veggie wrap slaps, you might not think that veggies could be so tasty but ask them for extra tzatziki in it plus the French fries they stuff in there and you're set. Their Greek fries with the feta and their version of frozen yogurt is bomb. Healthy and decadent. The prices are super reasonable especially for the generous portions. Parking is tough because it's smack dab in the middle. We always get excellent service at Nick's and this location is no exception--friendly and efficient. Their inside is a cut above fast food but not like a super welcoming restaurant but still, it's nice enough that we can come here with a group and it not be deafening; it's civilized. Yay for their expansion!

I came here for a late night snack! I was expecting it to by like Souvla and it was quite far off. The yogurt itself was ok but I think it needed to be a lot tarter. The baklava was really disappointing. It tasted like really gummy stevia maple syrup, it was not crispy, and there were zero nuts in it. Pretty disappointed and will not be back for the frozen yogurt.

Located right in the heart of San Mateo. You order and pay at the register before getting your food. The staff was friendly and the food came out pretty fast. The lady who worked the register brought our food over to us. FOOD: Chicken gyro bowl & beef/lamb gyro plate are both really filling! The main difference between the bowl and plate is the pita bread and size of the salad. With the plate, you can choose between rice or fries. Everything tasted pretty fresh as well. It's also super clean in there too! I

Came by to visit the fam for the holidays in San Mateo. Downtown has changed a lot since we lived here years ago. Came by to Nick and love their wraps. Also bought their dinner bowl and it was fantastic. Place is big with plenty of dining area., and ambiance was very nice too, feels lively. Service was excellent and pretty quick. Metered parking available at front or at the public parking downtown area. Cheers!

What a nice addition to the fast, casual downtown San Mateo Medi food scene and a change of pace from the explosion of boba tea shops. Nick's is at the former Halal Guys location. By far, in my opinion, one of the best, delicious and 'fast' Greek food around. While this is my first visit to this location, food consistency is great with the other Nick locations. They have a great selection of platters, bowls, gyros, soups, salads and assorted sides. Bright, spacious and clean, its a great place to hang out for a quick bite, without having to wait (sometimes, in long lines) at other restaurants. It wasn't crowded on our visit, a few occupied tables, but there was enough traffic for takeout/pickup. We ordered the gyro bowl and gyro plate with a side of falafel. You have your choice of fries or salad with the gyro plate and I chose salad. The portions are generous and very filling. The falafel was really good, it wasn't overly fried or greasy nor too dry (a dry falafel is terrible). The coloring of the falafel was cilantro-like and not a dry yellow chickpea appearance. Nothing was overly salted or dressed. After my meal, I can tell if something is overly seasoned (salted or use MSG--or something similar) and with Nick's food, it was not. The staff is super friendly. There are other Nick locations closer to me,but if I am ever visiting downtown San Mateo and craving Greek food, I would definitely return.

Holy moly, inflation is insane: I came in to grab a bite on the cheap, so ordered the beef gyro wrap by itself without any sides or a drink. With tip, it came out to $16.44 which felt like a lot compared to other grab and go Greek spots. The meat was hot and fresh, and the cashier was nice. I chose to dine-in, but the nice cashier said that she forgot what I said so wrapped it in a plastic bag to go. Was going to buy a drink but the beverage fountain had a paper taped to it with "out of order." Food came out relatively quickly as I was the only person in the restaurant from when I ordered until after I finished my wrap. All in all, I like this chain a lot and the folks are nice. It's just a touch expensive for a small, grab and go meal.

I ordered a chicken gyro pita wrap from Nick The Greek via DoorDash, excited about their buy one, get one free deal. I asked for fries and sauce on the side, but the sauce was missing, and the fries were stuffed inside the wrap instead. The box of fries included with the meal were stale, and the chicken gyro was very dry. To top it off, I found a piece of chicken skin with feather tips still attached. Overall, a very disappointing meal. I won't be ordering from Nick The Greek again.

New location for the rapidly expanding Nick the Greek gyro chain. Lots of seating and very clean. Enjoyed a side order of gyro meat and a greek side salad. Hit the spot for a light but filling dinner.Nick the Greek is the best Greek fast casual chain around, better than Daphne's (still a good one) who came before them and where I frequently ate during my SoCal days.

Crossed an item off the bucket list and attended the grand opening of Nick the Greek's San Mateo location! I pulled up with some friends around 12PM, where we then stood in line for the next two hours. Something great about Nick the Greek is that they give away free food on their opening day. On the other hand, this leads to long lines, but I'd say it's worth it, no?Obviously, a long wait isn't ideal, but the staff went above and beyond to ensure everyone was comfortable: they passed out menus, thanked people for being there, and even gave away free Greek frozen yogurt samples! Big kudos to them.I got my classic beef/lamb gyro bowl and a side of Greek fries, both of which were bussin. For those out of the loop, Nick the Greek has an extensive menu of filling gyro wraps, plates, skewers, bowls, and a wonderfully tart frozen yogurt. If you're craving Greek food in San Mateo, Nick the Greek is 100% worth checking out!
