Love this Ethiopian/Eritrean spot! There aren't many restaurants in the city that serves this kind of food so it was fun to try something new. Definitely ask the staff for recommendations if you're not sure what to get, they were very helpful. The food is delicious, comes with decent portions, and has a chill causal vibe! I got the vegetarian platter for 2 and the zebhi dorho (chicken), all served on top of injera. It came with 6 types of veggie dishes, I really enjoyed the variety! They were all so good and the chicken was smothered in a yummy sauce. The injera went to well with the dishes and it was fun to eat with my hands.

Cool Ethiopian/Eritrean spot in San Francisco! My first time in an Ethiopian restaurant and I'm impressed by the presentation, plating, and taste of the place. We waited for a few minutes before getting seated. We went on a weekend night and the place was packed when we got seated. We got two plates: meat combo and veggie combo. The food came pretty fast. I love the flavor of the plates. The plates were really filling!

Partner and I were craving Ethiopian food and decided to try this place. This is a very spacious restaurant with lots of seating for groups or to take a fun date. The menu is filled with a variety or meat and vegetarian options. We decided to get the vegetarian combo for 2. Food came fast and the service was great. The food was all delicious. Our favorites were the Tumtumo lentils which are purée with flavorful spices. Our 2nd favorite was the Okra which was tangy and spicy. I dropped off one star because the portions sizes were a bit small.

SERVICE- located in Inner Sunset near Golden Gate Park- street parking available nearby though can be tricky to find- plenty of indoor seating- good for small groups or large groups- ambiance nice for a semi casual meal- servers want to take your order quickly but are also nice about letting you wait a few minutes to decideMENU- Ethiopian selection of mains and platters- vegetarian and vegan options available- average price ($18 per entree)FOOD- vegetarian platter (8/10): injera bread topped with six of the vegetarian side dishes. I really enjoyed the flavors of the dishes. Each one had a unique spice that shone through. Some were sweeter while others had a good punch of chili. My favorite was the tumtumo as it felt like it had a strong cinnamon flavor. The portion is a good size for two people to share. We asked for injera refill so that we could finish all of the delicious dishes. WOULD I GO BACK?Yes! The ambiance and food were really good.

This was my first time trying Eritrean food and it was so absolutely stunning!! I started with the Asmara lager, easy to drink and smooth. I crushed two meat sambusas - the sauce is a little spicy but I couldn't get enough. The veggie platter for 1 comes with a soft injera, tumtumo (crushed lentils seasoned well), hamli (seasoned collard greens), alicha (seasoned potatoes with other veggies), alich-ater (yellow split peas with other veggies). It was a pleasant surprise to eat with my hands, scooping bites of the veggie platter using the injera. It's similar to how I eat Indian food at home! It was so delicious, seasoned well, and exceeded expectations. The service at the bar was amazing- very prompt and warm energy. The space is loud, crowded with lots of folks sharing plates. It's lit with warm yellow-orange lighting. I am def brining friends and family back!

Delicious Ethiopian food in a space larger than meets the eye! The staff is attentive and friendly and is happy to answer any questions if you're new to the cuisine. The two of us enjoyed the vegetarian sampler and meat combo. It was enough food for us as we came hungry but could easily have been paired with leftover njera for a meal the next day. Overall this was a lovely evening dinner and being in the inner sunset neighborhood makes this a cozy spot to try when we feel the craving!

Amazing food, fabulous service, great for large groups and families, full bar with a TV (nothing like eating your feelings while watching your favorite team tank in the fourth quarter or seeing your rivals make it to another Super Bowl, right?) and a convenient and wonderful neighborhood location.Don't you love those reviews that say "the food is great!"? jk.Well, after dozens of visits here over the years and now living a short walk away (dangerous!), here are the universal favorites for our family and friends:1. Sambusa appetizer (unless you are a vegetarian, get the beef w/ onions)2. Kitfo (beef), Gored Gored (beef) and Kilwa Begee (lamb) for mains (close second is the New Eritrea Special (chicken)3. For vegetarian dishes (all 100% vegan btw)... Kantisha (mushroom), Vegetarian Combo (3 dishes, lentil, collard green & spinach, and potato/carrot/cabbage), or if you like spicy Alicha-Ater (chickpea, onions, garlic). If anyone likes Okra (we do), the Okra is a nice addition but on top of at least two other mains. The homemade cheese is also really good, as is the yogurt (and balances nicely with the spicier mains). They are also very considerate about putting all the meat dishes on one platter and the veg on another if you have a group of omnivores and herbivores. This place can get very busy at night, but they open at 4pm and we love to get here early.

Finally gave this place a shot after 20+ years of walking by. It's surprisingly large inside. And the workers here are really nice. I ordered the special kitfo along with a side of tumtumo. It was a lot of food, but deliciously flavorful. The greens that came with the special kitfo was really good. I think I would love to get their vegetarian combo the next time I come because I've never had such tasty vegetarian dishes. The kitfo was alright, it came swimming in clarified butter, and I often think that the regular kitfo tends to be tastier than the special versions for some reason. The injera was unlike others I've tried before. It was actually chewy and somewhat thick in certain areas, which made it really enjoyable. Great place.

Easily a family favorite--found this gem of a restaurant on Google "place to eat with hands..." BIG hit with the kids, ages 4 and 7, and big hit with the adults! Not too familiar with the food, so the staff was outstanding in making meal choices for the family of seven. Ever grateful!

Incredible Eritrean/Ethiopian food! Came here on a Tuesday evening around 6:45 PM and there was plenty of seating. The restaurant is much bigger inside than it appears. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We got the House Sampler Platter for two people and added a Combination Meat Platter to it as well. Important to note, this was enough food to feed 4 people easily -- we were both so full after and took home a full box of leftovers.Everything was so delicious! It was my friend's first time to have this kind of cuisine and she was so impressed. Everything was so flavorful and the meat was so tender; the chicken especially came straight off the bone. I loved the lentils and the lamb the best, but everything was amazing! They were happy to give us more injera upon request as well. If you're in the area, you NEED to try this place!
