Viv la Maison Nico! You're just as pretty enough to transform Jackson Square into another Paris where the easily recognizable Transamerica Pyramid turned into Eiffel Tower! How I adore you!I finally had the last brioche bun before other people were eager to buy one. It was my brother's idea that he wished to sink his teeth into the most mouth watering pastry that he showed me on an insta-video. When I first came before closing time, it's never their. Then the next other day on the weekend, a huge line with no luck. After shopping from the Ferry Building Farmers Market to head to Maison Nico before the Chinese parade and festival, there I had it. My family and I each have a separate piece without reheating the brioche bun. Still fresh, fluffy, and on top of that, delicieux! A rare treat to remember! The next day after work, I came all the way to Maison Nico one last time just to let them know how good they baked the brioche bun at its finest. This time, I buy something else. The Lemon Tart truly rocks! Even though it's expensive, it's still a money's worth down my hatch. I'll visit Maison Nico once I have enough money to pay for another high quality baked goods.

The mandarin black sesame croissant was freaking amazing! It has a honey sweetness to it, not overly sweet but just sweet enough and it was filling! The croissant was flavorful and crunchy throughout with dried candied mandarins on top and a black sesame paste inside. Would definitely order this again!Tried the Choux de Saison which I don't know what it was, had a little worm looking squirt on top with a gold flake. The whipped cream filling tasted like sour cream to me. The dough was superior to other cream puffs Ove had but I didn't enjoy anything else about it.The line was not bad at all! The only thing is there is a sign asking folks to wait outside while they serve each group and I don't think everyone read us the sign so while we were waiting folks just kept walking in and standing inside. Thankfully one couple let us cut the line to make up for those who cut in front of us. But overall a really cool spot and I want to go back to try more.

This is a woman run business that is a great bakery. I loved my coffee and black sesame chocolate croissant. Yes you read that right!!! Black sesame chocolate croissant and it was delicious!! The industrial feel of the place was efficient with a counter to order from and a few tables to sit at overlooking the kitchen. I will return when I am in the area again!

I've been meaning to visit for some time. Luckily made it here without any long lines. Coffee is good. The chestnut croissant was nice but I thought the saison packed more punch. Both nice and flaky and buttery. Also ordered a tart and the quiche but ill update later. A few seats inside and some cafe tables outside. Very cozy. Be prepared if you're trying to park nearby. Options are limited.

I've been meaning to come here for a while, but the last time I tried they were out of the chestnut croissant. This time I came on a Saturday morning and they had plenty of availability. Seating is quite limited and you may be standing for a while waiting for a seat to open up. Service was also a little standoffish but nothing too horrible. We got the chestnut croissant and pain au chocolat. The chestnut croissant had a very subtle chestnut flavor, but the croissant itself was light and flakey. I enjoyed it! The pain au chocolat was also really good - the outside was more pain suisse-esque and was crunchy and slightly sweet. The chocolate inside was also nice and soft.If you want to try some good French pastries, this is a great spot for it!

I really wanted to love this place, but I thought their croissant, which supposedly put them on the map (best croissant in SF 2023 I think) was quite overrated. Their other savory signatures like the meat pastries may be more worth it, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to try this spot. I arrived on a Friday around 12PM and there was still a short line out the door (no more than 10 minute wait). They were out of some items, but still had plenty of options left (read: croissants).Flan Parisien (3/5): I wanted to enjoy this more given I can tell that they were very generous with the vanilla bean in it and flavor wise, I quite enjoyed it. The texture on the other hand, the flan was surprisingly very firm and the pastry wasn't super flaky.Chestnut Croissant (3/5): It was pretty flaky, but as croissants go, average in terms of butteriness. Quite literally nothing special and certainly not worth traveling for.Canele (1.5/5): I LOVE caneles and this was by far one of the few that I genuinely did not enjoy. It's all about the texture and the center was horrifically mushy.Financier (4.25/5): Actually the best item I had was the bag of financiers. Strong almond flavor, perfect sweetness level, and stayed moist for multiple days

Very popular and busy spot! Hard to get a seat on a Saturday morning around brunch time but we managed. I got an almond apple crossaint and a brisket sandwich to go, both were delicious. One other pastry we ordered for dining in also came with a side salad which was a pleasant surprise. They have nice looking pâté too which I'd like to try next time!

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax or get some work done. The latte was rich and well-balanced, and the desserts were absolutely delicious. Not many seats in the store, but whether you're looking for a quiet place to work or catch up with friends, this cafe is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend!

In a city already stiff with competition against B Patisserie and Arsicault, Maison Nico provides an elevated artisanal take to their pastries that beats out the other two. While Arsicault holds the best butter croissants, their other offerings are just okay to me, whereas while Maison Nico offers really great variety of baked goods, their butter croissant falls slightly short.Let's start with their butter croissant. The interior air pocket chambers were made beautifuly to perfection, but due to the striping on the outside it was a little less flakey than Arsicaults. This is my personal preference, but I enjoy the flakiness a lot more when it comes to butter croissants. Now where the exterior striping works really well for them is their seasonal chestnut croissant. I really wish it had more of the chestnut flavor because it is a very unique offering. The overall texture, and color is to die for. If you look closely at my photo you can see the interior of the chestnut croissant and the different layerings it had within the air pockets. It's absolutely gorgeous and so well done. Truly a work of art.Like I mentioned the flavoring is super subtle so it may taste like an ordinary butter croissant to many, but if you take the time to enjoy it, the aromas will eventually come out.We also ordered various other pastries from them for family and everyone else agreed that not only were they beautiful but they were delicious. Im so thankful Maison Nico is so close to my work because the space is beautiful as well. Very Kingsman like and very visually stunning.
