Who eats a smash burger at 9:00am on a Sunday morning? Me. And it's incredible. Why is there a line 10 people deep at 9:00? It's worth it. Perfectly charred with pickles, cheese and mallard sauce. Fries are awesome. $18 bucks with a drink. Can't beat it. Enjoy.

Solid smash burger - would definitely get the spicy over the regular. The burger is all around decent but not as exceptional as some of the hype makes it out to be. The first bite was great, crispy patty edges with a really nice char flavor. Creaminess from the cheese and nice acid from the pickles and peppers. However, past the first couple bites, flavors started to all blend together. It still tasted good but my enjoyment tapered off after the first few bites. Fries were a bit undersalted but not bad. The seasonal lemonade drink we got was not good, not sweet enough and too bitter/sourI think they're only open on weekends at the sunset market. We probably waited about 20-30 minutes for our food and ate in a seating area nearby.

A well made, high quality smash burger, which is hard to find in the Sunset! Their fries and sauce is also delicious. They are so popular at the farmers market, so expect to wait an hour and pay around $20 for a meal. Still the best option at the farmers market IMO!

DELICIOUS smashburgers!! I've been craving burgers because i'm pregnant and Maillards fulfills that craving. We got lucky and came during Thranksgiving weekend and the farmer's market was so empty, there was no line!My husband and I got one combo with fries and one double smashburger and we were so satisfied after. The patties are super thin and have crispy lacy edges--my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Their fries are also really good with the sauce on the side!I don't think we'll get lucky again with no line any time soon, but one day I will brave the line and come back!

These are insane smash burgers!! We arrived around noon on Sunday and the wait was about 40 minutes for us including falling in line, paying, and picking up our food.-- just know the wait is worth it --We ordered 2 regular doubles with a side of fries and extra spicy aioli on the side. They ran out of the spicy doubles but I'm actually so happy with what we ordered! I'm coming back here next week :PThank you for the awesome burgers!!

Found in a farmer's market surrounded by other food stalls. Was recommended by a friend and it definitely lived up to the hype. Great smash burgers, still think about it to this day. Mallard's sauce + pickles + side of fries fried in beef tallow pulled everything together and made this simple dish -- delicious.

Great smashburgers at the outer sunset farmers market (every sunday from 9am - 2pm). We got there around 1 and there was still a sizable line but it moved fast! However the wait for the burger itself was pretty long, even though they were churning out burgers quite fast. The workers were super friendly and the vibe outside is great because you can watch them making the burgers in front of you. $10 for single smashburger, $12 for double. We wanted to try the breakfast sammie too but it was sold out! The smashburgers were good but not the best I've ever had -- I thought the sauce could have been more evenly placed and the burgers felt haphazardly constructed (perhaps because they were assembling so fast). Don't know if I'd wait in line for it again but I'm glad i tried it!

Besides the 44 minute wait in the cold, everyone in line was waiting patiently. This is my first attempt to try Smash burger craze in San Francisco. My first experience was with Irv's Burgers and I was blown away from that experience. With Maillards, their mascot is actually a mallard duck. The pop up tent on the Farmers Market line caught me by surprise because in another hour it will close! The cashier bought out the orange cone that said end of line and it went right behind me with 6 more people back there. Phew! we made the cut off. I drove all the way here across town on an errand because I had craving for a smash burger . As I got closer to the tent, I could see them making their burgers and fries fresh. The menu was short and sweet, either spicy burger, normal double burger or their sold out breakfast biscuit. I paid for burger and just waited and watch them make the burgers. They neatly wrapped the burgers up in the green and white paper and called your name. I finally got my burger. By this 15 Minutes till closing they were out of ketchup but that's ok since the burger inside had their own sauce and pickles .I got the Maillards Double which contained Two beef patties, caramelized shallots, American cheese, Maillard sauce, house made pickles, Martin's potato roll. Maillards uses local, homemade, and high quality ingredients such as shallots and beef tallow at this smash burger joint. Visually it looks good and is a small sandwich which is fine, since I don't want to over eat. lol the flavor of the sauce was nice. If I am in this area again, I would mind trying their spicy double burger and breakfast sandwich but i will advise code when it first open because of the line! Enjoy!

Maillards has gotten quite the following and hype and I think they are delicious burgers. Personally I wouldn't wait a the 40+ minutes wait time they seem to often have during their Sunday farmer's markets (and the one time I tried to, they ran out after like 20 minutes in line) but the pop-up at Heritage Restaurant & Bar in the Richmond is a nice option and if you go in the first 30 minutes or so after they open, there is normally not a big wait (does seem to get busier later).I've only tried the regular smashburger but they have a spicy version and a couple other variations depending on which pop up location you go to. Get the double even if you aren't that hungry- makes sense cost wise and the patties are pretty thin. The first time I had one, I opted for no pickles but the burger was pretty one note so I would keep them although I did find myself removing them after a few bites on subsequent orders. The bun is tasty and the cheese is well melted and the shallots are a far better addition than onions would be. I don't love the Maillards sauce but the burger definitelyneeds some kind of condiment so it's fine. The two best menu items I've had are actually the fries- these are almost slightly too salty but very good and perfectly fried- and the chicken bites. The chicken bites they only had on one occasion but I hope they bring them back- they were really great and the moroccan spiced honey was great with them. The menu online is for the Sunday farmer's market. They often have slightly different items at their Tuesday and Friday popups so I would suggest checking their Instagram for more information. One day I will make it to the farmer's market early enough to try their breakfast sandwich.Solid four stars for me if you're looking for a smash burger.

I have been here several times now, each time to buy something new. The workers were very kind and helpful when we had questions. Their cookies were huge and amazing. It was super gooey chocolate and the balance of sweet and salty was perfect. Their meat is high quality and be sure to ask them how to cook it properly because they will give you tips and tricks.
