A lovely choose-your-own meats and veggies hotpot spot in the Inner Richmond. There are multiple broths to choose from that they warm up for you and is included with your order. The owner was super sweet, all the workers were super attentive and very helpful. The place is clean and there is plenty of seating, even a long table for bigger parties.

Cozy Malatang Gem in Inner Richmond!O R D E R E D we came here with three people so we each got our own malatang bowl.V E R D I C TI'm so glad to have a solid malatang spot right here in the Inner Richmond with M Pot. At $15.99/lb, the pricing is on par with other popular spots like YGF, Tang Bar, and ZhangLiang, but what really sets M Pot apart is its homey atmosphere. It's a smaller restaurant with about 8 tables, giving it a cozy, intimate vibe that makes dining here feel warm and welcoming. The ingredients are fresh, the broth is flavorful, and the service has that personal touch that you don't always get at larger chain spots. They ALSO have this ADDICTING green sauce that makes me think it's a cilantro based sauce, a pesto sauce, I don't really know but whatever it is, it's just like the green sauce from Shabu Club and I love that sauce! If you're craving malatang and want a spot that feels a bit more laid-back while still delivering on quality and taste, M Pot is definitely worth a visit. I'll be back for sure!Did I mention they also have homemade tanghulu for dessert if you have a sweet tooth!

It was good; I unfortunately can't remember much but went the day after Christmas with my boyfriend and a friend. I finished my entire bowl!Nothing alarming to point out. They have a duck soup! But I opted for their bone broth. It's worth giving this place a go!

===TL;DR=== - $15.99/ lb===TMI===Not good. Limited selection but has all the key items that people care for. Only have 2 soup base: beef bone broth or vegetarian tomato broth. You also get to choose your spicy level - non spicy, mild, medium, extra spicy. They also have a sauce bar provided but not that extensive. The malatang was not good. I got the spicy beef one and the soup was bland, almost felt like it didn't mend with the food. My mom described her tomato soup as the canned ones - not good. The saddest part was I don't think the sauce bar save the meal. Honestly, I'd rather take a trek to Tang Bar in Stonestown for the same price.

Cute hot pot place in the Richmond. It's the type of place where you pick out your hot pot ingredients and the cost is determined by the weight. And they cook it for you. They have a great veggie and noodle selection, and some meats/seafood too. After you pick your ingredients, you chose a soup at the counter. They also have a small sauce bar where you can get a small dish of sauce and they also have cilantro or green onion to use for the sauces or put in your soup directly. I got the duck soup, medium spicy. It was so good! The soup was very flavorful and it was a nice amount of spice. I definitely felt the mala numbing spice. I went on a Thursday night and there were a few other diners but it wasn't too busy. Definitely worth a visit if you want some hotpot! I wanted to try the tanghulu but they were out so definitely will have to go back to get some!

Yummmmmm. After our usual grocery shopping trip for vegetables on Clement, my spouse and I decided that it was time for dinner and since it was very cold, we thought soup would be the best option. We came upon M Pot while walking back to our car and decided to stop by for dinner. The restaurant is small but has a lot of seating. The service is quick and the person who helped us get settled was very nice. They have a variety of options for veggies, meats, seafood and noodles. I got a mix of veggies, some fish ball with roe, tofu and yam noodles. The minimum weight is about .80lb and for that amount of weight, it is a pretty good amount of items in the bowl of soup. There are 5 broths to choose from: beef bone, tomato, laksa, yom tum and pork and you pick which level of spice you want. I opted for the medium while my spouse got the extra spicy- he was very brave but also, the heat was evident based on the sweat on his forehead. We both got the classic beef bone broth and picked the items we wanted. The food was great and just what we needed on this chilly evening! They have a sauce station which had a few options but were very complementary to the soup. We will need to come back to try the other soup bases!

After several visits to M Pot, I can confidently say this place has become my absolute favorite destination for a quick meal that hits the right spot. Their tomato broth is nothing short of amazing. Rich, hearty, and packed with flavor. Everytime I return, I find myself craving it even more. The broth has this deep, savory-sweet balance that's just perfect, and the richness lingers in the best way possible. The star of my meal is always the beef tendon and beef slices. The tendon is consistently tender, practically melting in your mouth, while the beef slices are thin, juicy, and soak up the broth's flavors beautifully. The freshness and quality of the ingredients are evident with every bite.Their yam noodles have also become a must-order for me because they add such a fun, chewy texture that pairs perfectly with the broth, veggies, and meats. It's the kind of dish that leaves you feeling satisfied but still wanting more, even after you're full.Beyond the food, what keeps me coming back is the impeccable service. The staff is always friendly and attentive and ensuring we have everything we need throughout the meal. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, making it an ideal spot for either a casual night out or a celebratory meal. After multiple visits, I can confidently give M Pot 5 stars. They consistently deliver a top-notch experience, and I can't wait for my next visit! PROTEIN POWER for a very affordable price!!

Amazing service. Even though the restaurant is more like a self-serve, the waitress checked on us regularly if we're ok.I like the concept of picking all the ingredients on my own and having them weigh what I picked. Regular (ayce) hotpot is usually pretty wasteful since people tend to order too much to make their money worth.I think their broth can be hotter (temp). Mine became cool very quickly. The laksa broth can be a little thicker too, my broth felt a little too watery for me.Their sauce selection is pretty good, but the hot sauce can be spicier! Next time I'd order spicier broth to make up for the less spicy hot sauce. This is my new favorite hot pot place. Hope it doesn't become too crowded in the future.

yummy malatang!! the minimum weight for your bowl is 0.80lbs. the inside of the restaurant is small, but i saw that they combined a few tables for a very large group!there were a good amount of ingredients to choose from, and all of the options looked fresh! my partner got the duck broth (medium spicy), and i tried the classic bone broth (extra spicy). i really like spicy food, and i've been to malatang places before where i can't taste the sichuan pepper. i'm happy to report that the extra spicy level at this restaurant definitely has that classic numbing malatang flavor!! the broth isn't overly salty & the food came out pretty quick!i like how the sauce bar is really clean and organized, and i also like how lemon slices are an option here.there was no more tanghulu left by saturday evening, so i'll be coming back in the future to try this!!

Small local shop that only has about 25 seatsPick your own ingredients - huge variety of everything you would want in hotpotGood diversity of soup options & i appreciate not everything has numbing (mala) spice Good value for money compared to AYCE hotpot since you can control portions and pick more variety without being fearful of waste (also if you dont like to eat the same thing as your friends, this is a great option)Limited dipping sauces but not really needed given how flavorful the broths are
