Needed an afternoon pick-me-up, and decided to stop by here for some coffee and pastries. This place is located right at the junction of Gough and Oak Street in Hayes Valley. It's a small place, but that's what makes it so charming. Patrons were actually seated in close quarters and socializing with one another in the true cafe spirit.I originally came for the babka. Unfortunately, since it was the towards the end of the afternoon, they were sold out, so opted for the banana date cake with a cappuccino instad. The cappuccino comes with a little mini cube which was NOT a sugar cube, so don't plop it into the coffee like I did. Instead, it tasted like they had put peanut butter or something nutty in it to pair with the coffee. The banana date cake was nice and moist - like cake version of banana bread with bits of date!In the end, I decided to buy a loaf their cinnamon date babka bread. No regrets! Even though I didn't eat it right away, it still tasted amazing for the next few days. The inside was fluffy, airy with layers of cinnamon between buttery layers of goodness and the texture and slight caramelization of the crust just made it all the better! So glad I stopped by! I'm curious to try their savory stuff as well, but definitely picking up another loaf of bread next time I visit during the day time.

Love the ambiance in here -- it's very aesthetic and an excellent spot to catch up with a friend (which is exactly what I did), plus centrally located in Hayes (though not on the exact main street). It was really busy when we went on the weekend and could barely get a seat though. We got a seasonal babka and chocolate cake. The cake was very decadent and smooth-- delicious and would definitely get it again. The babka wasn't the best I've had - flavors were good but it was a little tough (maybe it had been out for a while?) so I actually had some trouble splitting it lol. Overall would love to try some of the earl grey flavored desserts and visit again.

Came here with the the bf on a recent bakery crawl. I have been to this establishment before but when they were 21st Century bakery and I have been wanting to try this place since they took over the location. There were a myriad of items I wanted to try, but this was literally our third bakery the day and counting so I had to make some cuts. So together we got the labneh cheesecake, the chocolate chuck tahini cookie, the pine nut tart, the mahlab tea cake and the chocolate cake. The labneh cheesecake was the star of the show and of the day for me. It was so DELICIOUS! Never would have thought of using labneh for cheesecakes. It was light and gave a great tang, it was perfect, could not stop eating it. The chocolate chuck cookie was really good. The tahini gave it like a peanut butter cookie flavor, loved the combination. YUM! I love pine nuts so when I noticed the display case to my right I zoned in and had to get it. YUM, it's was like having a a very decadent pecan pie. Not sure of the cream that was on top, but it complimented it well. The mahlab tea cake was okay for me. I wanted to try the flavor of mahlab since hearing about it from Bake Off. Unfortunately the chocolate cake was not for me. It was too cold to eat and even at room temp it did not enhance the flavor. Also the buttercream didn't really taste like espresso. So a hard pass on the cake. Very cute and cozy interior and I love their ornate plates. Paid street parking only. Literally did not look at their pricing, but it's definitely worth it for me. I love all the Mediterranean/Middle Eastern spices they used in their pastries. Definitely fits my more adventurous taste buds, wasn't as big of a hit for the bf who is more of a basics done right kind of guy. A must try.

I LOVED Loquat and will definitely plan to be back! This is such a cute bakery and cafe located in Hayes Valley with a fantastic selection of pastries. I literally wanted to try everything on their menu. I ordered slices of their Banana Date Cake and Chocolate Cake with Espresso Buttercream. Both were incredibly delicious. I personally enjoyed the chocolate cake more since I felt that the flavors of the cake and buttercream complemented each other so well. The banana date cake was also really good, but it was a bit drier and heavier. However, I would still recommend both of them! Each slice was about $6.50, which I felt was reasonable. The ambiance is very warm and inviting, and it's the kind of space that I would want to exist in for a while. The service was also fantastic--I loved chatting with both of the employees who took and handled and my order. I look forward to my next visit!

I stopped by to pick up a Preserved Lemon and Rosemary Tart ($8.50 + 6% employee benefits mandate) to-go:+Crust was crunchy even though it was eaten hours later.+Tangy lemon curd was balanced by the lightly sweetened whipped cream topping.+Infused with rosemary throughout, which added savory, herbaceous notes: Definitely one of the most unique lemon tarts I've had!-Crust was uneven and chipped in some parts.Side notes:1.) Prices were higher than those shown in the display case and online: For example, the Preserved Lemon and Rosemary Tart was shown as $8.00. 2.) Walking distance from Van Ness station*Verdict: I'd love to return to try more of their baked goods!

Small, cozy, and cute! Moderate indoor seating available on a Saturday around 1pm. I didn't see any outdoor seating, but we were able to take our small dog in. Service is fast, making this a cute pit stop if you're in the area! The pastries are so cute and delicious. Our favorite was a lemon cake with white frosting. It was so moist and had just the right amount of lemon flavor. I'd recommend sharing the pastries, since they're pretty big!

Finally got to stop by and try their babka! Loquat offers a few flavors of the sweet braided bread. I got the salted chocolate and the poppyseed walnut. The bread was soft and pulled apart easily into bite sized chunks. I enjoyed the chocolate babka the most! It had a strong chocolate flavor without feeling overwhelming. I'd definitely get it again! There are a few tables to sit inside with self serve water and a place to bus your dishes afterwards. Parking in the area is metered and usually difficult to find, so take public transit here if you can!

Such a cute little bakery in Hayes valley! They have an assortment of cakes and pastries that all look so beautiful and I'll have to eventually make my way to trying a few! This time I got a latte and salted chocolate babka. I'm a sucker for cute plateware and this spot knows aesthetics! Both the latte and pastry were good. I would have liked more chocolately goodness from the babka and I think I'll ask for it warmed up a little the next time I'm here! Overall, great cozy spot to catch up with a friend or for a cute coffee date.
