La Reyna is a small, family-owned panadería in the heart of the Mission District. I stopped by this past Saturday morning (October 19th) for some freshly baked conchas. It was about 11am, and they were cooling on the rack. Each tray had a beautiful display of colors. I practically had one of each! The conchas were a delicious and affordable late breakfast treat at only $1 a piece. Make sure to have one with a cup of coffee! The guy at the counter was awesome. He joked in a way only a true local would do--a bit of sarcasm and dry wit. It reminded me of the neighbors I grew up around. They also have sugar skulls and pan de muerto for Día de Los Muertos.

wonderful self serve bakery! The concha was only $1 and was so delicious paired with horchata (from a neighboring place). The top is perfectly crunchy and sweet and the bread part is the perfect texture (not dry at all!). The store also had so many other goodies that I'll definitely check out next time! Note that this isn't a sit down place but the parks nearby are a great place to eat afterwards!

I stopped by here at the end of a community student-led walking tour in the Mission and got to hear from Luis more the history of the building, changes in the Mission and community organizing around it, and his family's long history of owning and running this bakery, which was a nice touch and I appreciated getting to learn more about the space. I also love pan dulce, so I bought a concha for $1 (they take credit card as well as cash). They have a lot of nice, aesthetically-pleasing breads. The bread itself was super sweet, so good if you like a sweet tooth, and I like the crunchy cookie-like exterior.

Decent local bakery. We got a couple croissants and some cake.Super reasonable prices. $1.25 each item. Not a fan of their croissants. They taste like wholesale packaged croissants. Yes, they're huge, but I'd take quality buttery flaky croissants over these huge football rough bisucuit tasting croissants any day.Their slices of cake were dry white cake with very little raspberry frosting. Not my type of bakery or baked goods.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm and they still had quite a lot of pan available. We brought home an orange concha with sugar crystals, a round corn bread (kind of like a beso but without any filling and not quite a perfect sphere), a cookie, an enormous croissant looking pastry and the special purple concha. Tried them the next morning and the conchas were light and airy and would be particularly good dipped in coffee, tea or milk. The corn pastry was more moist and slightly sweet... also very enjoyable. The giant croissant was soft but not otherwise croissant-y at all except for the shape... more bready than layered or flakey.... but it was still very tasty and soft and would be great to make into a sandwich I think. I didn't try the cookie myself but my SO was happy with it. So, I can definitely see why they have been around as long as they have. Very good quality and inexpensive. The gentleman running the store on the day we visited was very nice and friendly as well. Highly recommend.

In a city and neighborhood decimated by gentrification, La Reyna is one of the last ones standing and consistently delicious. I've been coming here since I was a kid growing up in the Mission, and their bread (or pan. Do not pronounce it like a "frying pan") is delicious. Fluffy and sweet. Perfect paired with coffee or as a treat. The process:Grab a tray.Grab a pair of tongs.Select your pastries. If you're doing it right, your tray will be filled. They have deep purple concha, dedicated to Selena. I've never seen anywhere else that does that, and it makes it highly Instagram-able. It's a must-stop when in the Mission.

Best pan dulce in SF! The owner is so friendly and there's still a decent selection in the afternoons. Everything is good but the conchas are a must.
