Such a lovely coffee shop / bakery in Hayes!Visited early Sat AM - Staff was very friendly and attentive as we were the only ones in the shop. Props to them for answering my silly questions on French translations lol. Ordered the almond croissant and almond croissant latte (yes I love almond). My croissant was delicious, on the softer side (I prefer slightly flakier), but plenty of almond slices and a good amount of almond paste. The latte also had just the right amount of almond flavor to it. Was so impressed with their huge selection of baked goods - I've had their bread in the past and can also recommend. They also have plenty of food to order to-go or for dining in. Cute space to catch up with friends in Hayes!

The coffee was pretty standard -- I didn't have any issues with it Really lacking seating and a lot of spots were taken by people working. The kouign aman was pretty good. My only complaint was that the caramelized sugar bottom got separated from the pastry and had stuck to the bottom of the mini tart liner so we had to kind of keep scratching at it with a fork to eat it. (It's the best part of a kouign aman -- I didn't wanna miss it). The fruit filling wasn't too sugary or overpowering and I really liked that.

We went by there on a day where it's ostensibly open, and it was not. They were tearing up the floor on the inside. Don't know what's going on.Owner responded that they were tearing up the floors. Would've been nice to have that on the yelp page beforehand

Came here on a Sunday to have a few treats and get some work done. They just did a bit of remodeling and they no longer have outlets - unclear if this is temporary or not. Their pastries have always been good but not great in my opinion. I got a chocolate chip cookie and croissant. The chocolate chip cookie had good texture but fell flat in flavor and especially the quality of the chocolate. The croissant had good flavor but lacked in texture, there was 0% of the croissant that was crisp or crunchy. This places continues to rank the same for me, decent but probably wouldn't recommend to anyone.

La Boulangerie is roomy, bustling, and somehow still peaceful and comfortable. The store itself is so cute, especially with all of the decorations this time of year.Even with a line, service was quick and my croissant and coffee were, as well. The croissant was yummy and crispy, and the drip coffee was a great standard coffee. The coffee is pricy in general, but given that it's in SF, it's not too bad. It seems like a perfect place to study or spend some time catching up with friends. The location is great as well, with a close walk to the Painted Ladies and surrounded by cute stores and restaurants.

No where to sit because every table is taken up by people on their laptops with no visible coffee or pastry. You're relegated to leaving or sitting outside in 50F weather!

Stopped by on a Monday (early) morning and was not impressed at all :(A lady with all piercings was helping me but it seemed like she did not want to be there. No smile not friendly at all. She put my pastries in small bags then after she realized that I ordered a lot, she grabbed a box and started taking out those pastries out of the bags and put them in the box like she was pissed that I did not tell her that it would be a big order. Well next time try communicate with your customer first.I knew it was early.... But if you did not want to be there, quit and stay home.I am not in a hurry to go back there again since there are many other places with delicious bakery plus nicer service

Avocado toast tasty, but is it just me? Shouldn't avocado toast be TOASTED?!! I even asked that the bread be toasted. Sigh.Big slice of squishy bread not the same. Anyway, choice of salad or potatoes. Too early for salad. The man at the counter said their potatoes really popular. Clearly I'm not the demographic, these spuds went right in the compost bin. Suspiciously, evenly cubed, greasy potatoes, big mound of them. Meh. If there's a next time I'd give them another chance on toasting skills & skip the side. They have lots of tasty pastries & sandwiches to-go.If you're on Hayes, looking for breakfast before 9am, Boulangerie the only game in town.

La Boulangerie Hayes Valley is fantastic. Super helpful and straightforward. Perfect for working or grabbing a bite in the morning or afternoon. The location is awesome, right across from the park, with lots of dogs around. Their butter croissant and almond croissant are top-notch--definitely French bakery level. Highly recommend this spot for a quick, delicious bite.
