***NOTE: This page was originally Tawan Thai's, which was KhaoSoi's predecessor, but it was renamed instead of replaced, so the older ratings, reviews, and photos (prior to 12/2023 or so) aren't actually for KhaoSoi.Back when Tawan Thai used to call this place home, it was both good and bad that I passed by them more times than I could ever count. Good because I was well aware of them and had been meaning to try them. Bad because I'd seen them so many times, they started to blur into the background, like everything else as I'm driving by. So, it's more than a little ironic that when I finally make the effort to stop by, I discover they've been replaced! However, I have to admit - even though I came here to try Tawan, I was actually a lot more excited to try Khaosoi instead! From what I could tell from all of the times I would walk by, Tawan Thai had a mom-and-pop type vibe that, honestly, didn't look far off from so many other neighborhood Thai restaurants in SF. KhaoSoi, on the other, with its updated decor, looks much more modern and aesthetic, even if it lacks an organic sort of charm. Regardless, I'd be lying if I said I didn't find the latter's menu to be more interesting. While it's not nearly as extensive, I was super intrigued to try their namesake dish - I've never really seen other places that specialize in it! Of course, that's not to say the rest of the menu isn't interesting - from their apps and rice plates to their stir-fried noodle dishes and curry ramen, in particular, there were more than a few things I wanted to try!-- SAMOSA - Flavorful Vegetable Samosas Served with KhaoSoi Curry Sauce and Zesty Cucumber Dipping Sauce...$10.95This is unlike any other samosa I've had, as it's more like a baked pastry than flaky and fried, but I liked it. The dough is great and the filling was terrific - moist, not super dense, and really tasty, especially with the dipping sauce.-- KHAOSOI FRIED CHICKEN - Creamy Coconut Curry Broth, Egg Noodles, and Egg Garnished with Crispy Noodles, Lime, Pickles, Chilis, and Shallots...$21.95I love a good khao soi and, thankfully, this is pretty darn good! The broth is rich and thick, the noodles were cooked well, and I liked how the pickled vegetables and onions cut through. As for the fried chicken, it's crunchy on the outside and surprisingly juicy on the inside.-- PAD SEE EW with Chicken - Stir-Fried Wide Rice Noodles with Egg, Chinese Broccoli, and Savory House Soy Sauce and Chicken...$16.95Not as good as I had hoped, but pretty solid. The portion is decent, they don't skimp on the veggies and meat (there's a good ratio), and the noodles were well cooked. Plus, it's not heavy on soy sauce either, though it's a little heavy on white pepper (I liked it, but something to be aware of).-- GREEN CURRY RAMEN with Chicken - Ramen Noodles in Creamy Green Curry Infused with Eggplant, Fresh Basil, Chili, and Bamboo Shoots...$19.95Mangrove Thai's curry ramen has long been my favorite, but this isn't far behind! There's a fair amount of chicken and noodles, but the star is clearly the green curry, which was creamy and just packed with flavor! Also, not that I thought they would be bad, but the eggplant was almost just as impressive! In addition to the food, the service here has been fantastic. Each time I've been, the workers have been super friendly and the kitchen always gets dishes out super quick. In fact, the only knock I can think of was when my friend and I tried to come here one night and they were already locking up to leave about a half hour before their listed closing time on Yelp. Even then, we weren't upset, as it's entirely possible their hours are listed incorrectly on here or there was a reason they had to close early on that one night. While I have zero complaints about the food or the service, I do think it's fair to note that the prices for certain dishes does feel a tad higher than your average neighborhood Thai joint (like Tawan Thai). However, they aren't necessarily overpriced. Granted, $13 for four Chicken Wings feels a little steep, but everything I've tried feels pretty typical in this post-COVID world. Not to mention the fact that it all tasted pretty darn good! I'll definitely be back.

We ordered for delivery through 3rd party. Definitely not worth the price with fees.Khao soi with fried chicken - this was an okay dish. The flavors of the khao soi were solid, a little more coconut-y flavor than I am used to, but it does help so that it's not overwhelmingly heavy. I'm used to flat egg noodles, and not the ramen noodles they used. but it's fine. It's nice they packed the fried chicken separately, doesn't quite go together, and tasted better on it's own with the sweet and spicy sauce.tom yum noodles with shrimp - good amount of shrimp but the broth honestly tasted more like tom kha... than tom yum....this would be a skip next time. pad thai chicken - was excited to try their pad thai since it was the number 1 ordered on the app. but alas, I still haven't found a good one yet. It was mediocre. Not enough sauce to coat the noodles. Overall, maybe better to dine in as always. but a skip on ordering for takeout/delivery. Not worth it.

A cute small modern Thai place in Inner Richmond. We ordered a few things on the menu including a few items that are a gluten free option. You can't tell the gluten free from the regular menu items! Of the menu, I really love the Tom Kha soup (so coconuty and tart soup) and of course, the khaosoi with fried chicken. The chicken was really crispy and almost just right (it was a tad dry). Would come back for these two dishes!

I love trying out new restaurants and this Thai Restaurant hit the spot. I didn't know this is a small restaurant but it's really cute and cozy. What suck me in is their Beef Rib Khao Soi. I never seen that anywhere and it was so tender and flavorful! Then we ordered their green curry noodles, basil chicken wings, crispy egg rolls, and pad sew ew! Everything is flavorful and delicious. Besides getting the Khao Soi, I love the pad sew ew. There was only one worker there and she was super friendly and attentive. I would recommend making a reservation and maybe you can reserve their Khao Soi Beef too. Please add me on Yelp if you like my vibe or IG @imjennime TYSM

Curry up and try thai this Thai spot! It shrimp-ly exceeded my expectations. First time trying Khaosoi and it didn't disappoint! The dishes were beautiful AND delicious! The khaosoi beef was literally fall-off-the-bone tender!! Limited order per day* -- lucky enough to try because we came right at opening! Khaosoi shrimp tempura was my fave! if this place was closer to me, I would see myself coming here often. Since it's a small quaint restaurant, it's not ideal for large groups (4+). I saw that they partner with doordash, uber eats, and postmates. It's located in an unassuming area but totally worth checking out. Service was very kind and sweet. Everything on their menu sounded so good!! I had to order a variety of items. - fried fish cakes with sweet chili sauce is such a good pairing! - chicken wings was so addicting! Sweet and tangy. - green curry ramen with tofu -- I'd order this again! - thai tea -- so addicting!!

The best Khaosoi I've had! With the name of a restaurant being a dish, it has to be good right?! Well, it definitely lives up to the name! Khaosoi Thai offers four different types of Khaosoi dishes, including one with beef, fried chicken, shrimp tempura, and a veggie version. Each consists of egg noodles, egg, crispy noodles, lime, pickles, chilies, and shallots in a creamy coconut curry broth. The texture of the noodles is really good, and the flavor of the broth has a balance of sweet and savory. The Khaosoi Beef is served with a HUGE beef short rib! They have limited orders of this available per day.I also really enjoyed their Thai Fried Rice. You can order this by itself or with fried chicken. I highly recommend ordering it with the fried chicken though! The batter on the outside is light and crispy. It also comes with a tasty sauce for dipping. The green curry is served with rice and is loaded with lots of vegetables, including regular eggplant, Thai eggplant (which I don't often see!), bamboo shoots, and bell peppers. You also choose your protein: chicken, tofu, beef, or shrimp. For appetizers, we got the Crispy Egg Rolls and Samosas. The egg rolls are thin and contain vegetables and glass noodles with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. The samosas appear empanada-like in shape but are more flakey and have potatoes and other vegetables inside. It's served with a curry sauce for dipping. I love that both of these appetizers are also served with a refreshing yet tart cucumber salad on the side. They're also topped with edible flowers and are quite pretty! I would definitely recommend the Thai Chicken Salad as well! This larb is aromatic and flavorful. There's a chili pepper symbol next to it on the menu, but I didn't think it was too spicy, so don't stray away from this one if you're worried about the heat!Other unique items on the menu that I'll have to come back to try are their Tom Yum Ramen and Green Curry Ramen! Overall, great food, cute interior space, and friendly service!

I'd definitely say this place is underrated! Walked over from Golden Gate Park with a friend in search of Thai food and stumbled upon Khao Soi Thai Cuisine. I'm very glad I did!We started with the crispy spring rolls, and they were a great way to begin our meal. The rolls were dressed up beautifully, crispy on the outside, had tasty filling inside, and came with a some marinated veggies and a sweet and tangy dipping sauce that complemented them nicely. For the main course, I had the green curry, which was fantastic. The curry wasn't too spicy, and was sweet & rich with comforting flavors. The combination of fresh vegetables and tender meat in the curry made each bite a delightful experience. The fragrant jasmine rice that accompanied the dish soaked up the curry sauce beautifully, making it a satisfying and hearty meal. I couldn't even finish it, but on the bright side I had some leftovers to take home!Khao Soi Thai Cuisine exceeded my expectations with its delicious food, great service, and welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great Thai dining experience near Golden Gate Park. This place is definitely a hidden gem!

What I ordered:-chicken khaosoi [4/5]-shrimp khaosoi [3/5]-eggrolls [3/5]-samosa [4/5]_I visited Khaosoi on a Friday night. Although the restaurant is quite small, it wasn't too busy, and we were seated promptly. I had been looking forward to trying this place for a while, and I'm glad I finally did. However, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The shrimp tempura was a bit soggy by the time it arrived, and I preferred the chicken khaosoi instead. The eggrolls were fairly standard, and the samosas were sweeter than usual, with an outer shell more reminiscent of an empanada than a traditional samosa. Despite this, the service was efficient, and our dishes were brought out quickly. Overall, the experience was just okay for me.

This tiny neighborhood restaurant serves up excellent northern Thai food. The spring rolls were perfectly crisp and accompanied by crunchy fresh vegetables. The attentive waiter and kitchen were cooperative in substituting certain vegetables, turning out a curry perfecto.
