Delicious small Mediterranean place.Went on a Saturday 2pm and was only customer there!Ambience - 9/10 -- Quaint interior and small overflow upstairs area with restrooms. Very clean and well-lit.Service - 9/10 -- Fast and friendly, well-packed meal-to-go and explained each of the sauces.Quality - 7/10 -- Solid food. Very warm, although I found the meats just a bit dry, would have preferred more tender or thinner. They also could absorb the sauces better.Value - 9/10 -- Good for SF! $20 for a delicious meal!Overall - 8.5/10

It pains me to give them a 2 star rating, but I ordered the lamb shank special and it was nearly inedible. It started off so well; it came with a side of rice pilaf and a nice green salad with pickled red cabbage and a tangy vinaigrette. Both of these were excellent. The lamb dish itself looked very good too, it was two medium-sized shanks in a shallow thick broth with tomatoes, potatoes, and peppers. I tried some of the veggies in broth and they were amazing. However, when I went to stick a metal fork in the lamb, something was wrong. It was so tough that I couldn't stick a fork in it. I had to tear it off. I took a bite and it was leathery, almost to the point of being crispy. It wasn't burnt, but it was pretty close. The description said the lamb shank was oven braised for 12 hours. What probably happened was that too much liquid evaporated while it was in the oven to the point where it didn't cover the lamb anymore, which made the meat dry out and become leathery. Two starts, because at least all the sides were legitimately good. I'm willing to think this a fluke and try it one more time (and if so, I'll change my rating), but I hope they work on their consistency.

I was pretty excited to have another lunch option in the Financial District, so wanted to check this place out. The restaurant is set up as a take out counter with a couple of seats, perfect for an office lunch. I had the chicken shish kebab wrap and it was quite underwhelming. There was definitely not enough flavor in the chicken or the wrap. The sauce on the side was okay, and added something, but didn't make up for the rest. The fries were not crispy either. Unfortunately, I was expecting a much better lunch but I don't think I would return here or recommend.

It's nice to have this restraunt closed to my work and it had become my favorite place. Today they have the lamp shank special and it tastes so soft and flavorful. The rice is good too. I usually order their lamb and beef gyro. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Kebab Baba is an amazing establishment in the Financial District, SoMa, 54 2nd Street, San Francisco. I've been waiting for its opening and found it worth every penny. The perfectly cooked lamb, beef, chicken, and vegetable skewers over rice, pita bread, and salad with special sauces were delightful. Great service as well. Highly recommended! Ambiance is acceptable.

Cold chicken in the gyro, wilted and sparse veggies. Hyper-limited menu outside of lunch time. Fries were a tiny serving size, cold and unseasoned, and were initially not included or even prepared after I ordered and paid for them. I had to remind the staff that they were a part of my order and wait extra time for prep.Skip this joint and go somewhere legit.
