Not much when you walk in but a good spot to try if you're in the area! It's in a building so kind of a hard to find location and there's actually no sign that leads you inside the building, which definitely makes it hard to find if you're not looking for it. Standard cafe items with standard pastries. Nothing too special but would definitely come back to support a small business. They might not always have everything listed on the menu.Pro tip: eat in the outdoor area with umbrellas, better ambience than the inside!

So i actually wasn't about to do a review hence why there are bites out the croissant, but when i took that bite i was like "hold on, i need to do a review" especially because i've been to Neighborhood Bakehouse that's not even a block away. the croissant at the bakery is amazing. i asked for it warmed and went back to work to eat it and it's so soft, like almost melt in your mouth warm and soft. No flavors are too overpowering, and just 3.75 compared to i think $5 at neighborhood bakehouse. this is a lighter croissant, nice and flaky and buttery. The one thing i liked the most was when i called for directions on how to get in, the lady was very helpful, she answered all my questions clearly and concisely so i knew exactly where to go and i appreciated that because it does get a little confusing since there are two entrances. This place is also open more days through the week than the other bakery which is also convenient because when i don't eat breakfast, I'd like a quick pastry that's soft, warm and satisfies that growling stomach. Good job Jolt n Bolt!! i saw all the bakers working hard in the kitchen doing an amazing job, and i was helped very fast. Thank you!

You know those sterile office buildings with a sad commissary where building occupants begrudgingly pay a few bucks for vending machine-quality sandwiches? Jolt n Bolt should be what these spaces aspire to! I've always walked by, but never made it in. This place doesn't have any curb appeal, so you have to enter next to the loading dock either off Illinois or through a conspicuous door off 3rd. The actual seating area is very sparse, but I like that this place creates daily menus. They serve the simple cafe staples, but with quality: salads, sandwiches, quiche, soup, and pastries. I got a quiche combo for lunch. The salad portion was decent, and the quiche hit the spot. I also grab macaroons every time I'm here. Their pastries are by Gerhard Michler, and they are all excellent, including their chocolate chip cookies. I love seeing their big, open kitchen. The place is clean, the food is not fussy, and they offer a different entree every day (pizza, burger, etc). If you need a consistent, reliable cafe for a quick lunch grab, this is the place!

I really wish I liked this place more... the aroma wafting out of the building always smells so delightful. This review is for their individual cakes/tarts. Why I was here // Went to buy a few nice desserts to surprise my bf with in addition to the homemade steak and some wine I was planning for a night in. Service // service was meh. The front lady wasn't too helpful when I asked questions about the desserts. Desserts // -fruit tart // this one was decent. Really enjoyed the crust and the cream was sweet but not overly sweet. Fruits were fresh. -toffee cake // beautiful presentation but horribly hard and dry in texture and bland. That one unfortunately ruined our dinner. We took a few bites and threw it away. For the price which ranges from 3-4 dollars per dessert, I feel like I was expecting more. I'll probably give this place another shot for their food/drinks but for their desserts, I was sadly disappointed.

The drinks are pretty good, but the service is abysmal. Don't know if I'd be willing to go again

That fried chicken sandwich from yesterday's menu was insane. Best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had. And I consider myself a fried chicken sandwich connoisseur. I'd be willing to sell my first born for that to become a regular item.Do the right thing, Jolt n Bolt... give the people the fried chicken sandwich that America deserves.

As someone who works in this building....it's danger zone for me since their coffee and pastry's are always so consistent and delicious. Their lattes are consistent and very good! The patio area is super cool as you can watch the bakers do their magic in the kitchen. Cool environment! Staff is extremely nice too!

I ordered the petit fours for my Paris Café themed bridal shower and they were a hit! Everyone loved them and they looked great on my mini pastry dessert bar! I can't thank Mary enough for these, they made the shower! Prices were the cheapest I found, perfect bite size, and easy ordering. Pick up was the day before since my shower was on a Sunday and they were still fresh... Not to mention delicious!! Will be re-ordering again!

Amazing amazing.....Fridays at 1600 the entire case and what remains of it goes HALF OFF!!!!Look for the macro wheatgrass looking landscaping on the east side of street, and enter the American Industrial Center Building. Turn right away from the elevators, pass cutesy courtyard and descend stairs.Welcome to total temptation. Fresh everything. Tried half sandwich and a few sweets. Such skill, refinement, and adroit prowess baking up ridiculous wonders!!!!!!Must come again, and soon.

What a great hidden gem! Ordered and ice latte; not only was it delicious but they used coffee ice cubes so the latte wouldn't get watered down as they melted. It's not every day you come across this level of thoughtfulness *chef's kiss*(Sorry that I didn't take a pic, drank it very quickly lol)
