There are greasy spoons for which you develop a nostalgic fondness because there's a dependability factor you can't help but admire and a familiarity level you simply can't ignore. Jim's is not one of those places. At least for me. Other customers appear to have this feeling of warmth, and the veteran server acknowledges it. However, there was apparently not enough to go around. It's a longstanding diner on Mission, and my last visit was over a dozen years ago (photo: https://yelp.to/quQ1MoYcmo). I only know that because Yelp just recently pulled my old lackluster review, and I thought, well, maybe I should give Jim's another try. So after a medical appointment nearby, I stopped by. I remembered they close early, 2:30PM, which is an hour earlier than it was before. But it was before noon when I arrived, and I was in the mood for breakfast.Inspired by the excellent Corned Beef Hash I was recently served at Sutter Pub in the Tendernob (review: https://yelp.to/DSIdvZh47R), I decided to order the $15.95 Corned Beef Hash & Two Eggs (photo: https://yelp.to/hpe0O5JAUy). Granted it was five dollars cheaper here, the hash was a disappointing flat seared on the grill with little flavor. I couldn't tell if it came out of a can because the texture had been nearly pulverized. As if that deficiency was not enough, the hash browns were soggy. The sunnyside up eggs, buttered toast, and medium $2.95 orange juice were all more in line with my expectations, but frankly none of that could really offset my disappointment with the two hashes. I'm sure this place has its loyal following, and I say more power to them. I gave them a chance. Twice. I'm not sure there will be a third.FOOD - 2 stars...flattened corned beef hash, and wet hash brownsAMBIANCE - 3 stars...still looks pretty much the sameSERVICE - 2.5 stars...well, I certainly wasn't a regular TOTAL - 2 stars...the second time was definitely not the charmRELATED - Exploring the Mission? The chicken fried steak and eggs was old school and I enjoyed it. Yes, it's on a neighborhood where the interior is not worth fixing but expect that and cholesterol and you'll be fine. Not expensive and full 70's breakfast menu! It's good

This review is for my mom. We've been going to Jim's for about 10 years. I don't know if Kim(the owner) sold it or not. But the two Latino or Hispanic women. We're very rude, they had my mom food waiting at the bar for about 20- 30 minutes. They were conversing with 2 gentlemen for about 30 minutes. My mom tried to get their attention. She said, they were rude! I'm not surprised with what's going on the world that people will definitely show their racism anyways! San Francisco was always discreet with it which is the worse. But when people patronize you be respectful. My mom will be calling to try and get in touch with Kim. Because I feel she deserves a refund and free meal. Learn to treat people right.

This place service is terrible after it changed ownership they had a wonderful waitress coqui she was so great I've never seen someone with such good service and energy it's been two weeks she left and the lady that is in charge Adela omg you ask her for something and you wait for at least 20 min her attitude and service leave literally people don't even order after 15 min waiting they get up and leave this is just so unacceptable and sad that the new owner has people working here with no experience and take the one person that did have the experience out what is wrong with people now days how sad

Wow! Such an amazing breakfast!!!!I happened to come across this place by chance as I was walking by on Mission Street. When I walked inside, I was warmly welcomed by Kim. She is super sweet and is the reason I'm leaving this review. The food was fantastic! I ordered the turkey sausage with eggs, hash browns and toast. A clean hearty, post workout breakfast. Anyways, would 110% recommend this place as well as looking forward to eating here again.

A old school diner in the Mission district. I Had an amazing time chatting with Kim (owner) at breakfast. The food was ok. Wings and fries. Steak, eggs, and home fries. Steak had a lot of fat. (You can request a steak with little fat) info for the next visit. I enjoyed my glass of mimosa. The coffee was hot and the cup stayed full.

Counter now available. Service a little slow today. I only have 45 minutes. Only one server. All I want is breakfast, do I need to go I the back to cook it? I still like this place.

This is an amazing restaurant that has been around since my grandma, mom, me, my kids and grandkids. Ms. Kim was the owner for 30 amazing years. It was recently sold to a non profit who hires from their own culinary school! (they kept Beto the long time cook!) Enjoy American breakfast -dont skip the French toast or diced ham and eggs. March 8 they will start a dinner service I can't wait!

Really sad about the booths being removed :( The booths were a signature feature of the place, and now it's just a generic looking place like every other remodeled place you see.
