I've been a customer for over two decades and it's nice to see Izzy's step up its game. The remodel brings a fresh, clean look that's a little more elegant, yet still comfortable and welcoming. The quality and variety of the food has improved too. My filet was seasoned better (less salty than the old days) and cooked perfectly, the sides are still terrific and although the salmon was very well prepared, its taste was suppressed due to too many accompanying flavors. Service remains as good as ever and I'm already looking forward to going back to explore more of the menu!

Our understanding is that tonight, February 12, 2025, was the "soft re-opening" after about a year of non-operation to completely gut and remodel the iconic Izzy's - San Francisco. Don't wait, make reservations now and treat yourself. The new interior is true to its heritage but is more elegant, private and sophisticated. In true San Francisco style, the management hired craftsmen to dismantle booths, light fixtures and almost anything that could be salvaged, then restored and re-installed. Brilliant. From the men's restroom hallway, I could get a peek into the sparkling new kitchen and it is impressive and efficient. We were told that a new chef is in charge in the back but that almost all of the beloved steaks, chops, prime rib, Izzy's potatoes and creamed spinach remain and, we loved every bite. Finally, when it comes to price, San Francisco has mandated significant labor, wages, health and benefits rules for restaurant workers and we fully support those laws. To help cover those increased costs, many restaurants in San Francisco include a 4% to 6% "surcharge" as contrasted with simply raising the cost of all food and beverage. Izzy's appears to not impose a surcharge and, we found the menu prices to be competitive and fair, particularly for the very professional level of service and outstanding and delicious menu and lack of surcharge. We will be back as often as we can and encourage customers, old and new, to frequent this San Francisco institution.

Your on-line menu lists loaded baked potato; however, it was not on the menu in restaurant. I came with my heart set on the baked potato and was disappointed that it had been taken off. 2 sides included with entree has been a signature feature of Izzy's and a great value. Also, the menu on line does not list charcoal bun served with smashburger. Burger can not be cooked to order but the meat was very tasty and service was excellent.

Worth the wait. It just reopened and was the highlight of our weekend. So refreshing without the archaic elder limping management of yore. Classy with culinary excellence.

When we heard Izzy's was going to close for remodeling, we decided we HAD to have one more dinner there for old times' sake before it was... changed?Well, if it was up to the food there'd be no reason to remodel. Everything from the shrimp cocktail to the creamed spinach to the steaks to the Izzy's potatoes were EXACTLY the way we remember them from 20 years ago when we first found Izzys.Yes, it's a bit expensive compared to grilling your own, but seriously, is your SO serving cocktails and checking on your satisfaction with the meal? I didn't think so. Anyway Izzy's, we love you, we hope to see you back bigger and better than before and can't wait!

excited (and nervous) to see the new look. I'm glad to say that it still feels like Izzy's.i am happy to report that the place is still great. a few subtle changes, a bit louder for some reason (maybe the new wall), no more choice array of sauces decorating the seating areas, they dropped the slight elevated seating area in front and put a wall up so people waiting were not staring down and other people eating. the one bummer was the redid the bar, painting over it and removing the old name plaques from regulars of times gone by. i really like that link to its past but progress i guess. time to make new memories there. All in all, great job Izzy's team, and welcome back. we missed you.

Wow, we were so excited to go to Izzy's after the long remodeling wait. But it was so disappointing. Instead of the bread basket of old you get served one piece. Water downed cocktails, waitstaff that couldn't tell you anything about the wines by the glass and the pours were about 4 sips for $20. Salad came overdressed but not very flavorful, steaks looked nice with the herb butter pat on top, but also lacking in flavor and seasoning. Izzy's potatoes had more cheese than in the past and were tasty. Opted out of dessert since we thought the $250 bill was enough for this disappointing visit to what had been one of our favorite place in SF for more than 30 years. Oh, and don't expect to hear anything your dinner partners have to say. Remodeling seems to have made the place way too noisy. One star for Izzy's potatoes and the fellow that kept our water glasses full.

So we waited for the remodel and tried it tonight. I wanted to order the Prime Rib, but the restaurant has a policy of no substitutions even in the case of dietary restrictions. After a lengthy back and forth, the management agreed that maybe they should make an exception. Food was okay at best. Won't be back.

Love the new vibe, along with its nod to the traditional Izzy's decor. Great menu and food updates!
