My friends and I visited for the first time expecting a BIG crowd during the Chinese New Year/Valentine's/Prez Day holiday weekend. We luckily got there just in time before a line started to form. I read in an earlier review that they try to have patrons in and out in a timely manner. They're really good at the efficiency of managing the line outside! I don't believe that my friends and I waited more than 20 minutes in line. I can see why this place has won so many accolades and been around since 1988. Literally everything we had was incredible! We had a family-style feast that included their famous Sizzling Fried Rice w/ Beef & Chicken, Fang's Crispy Beef w/ Bok Choy, the Seseme Chicken w/ Sweet Potatoes, Steamed Pork Potstickers and some Beef Honey Apple dish that I passed on since it had sweet mayo...I'm not a fan of mayo. ;-)I'm happy to say that we all loved our experience there and will definitely be back in the near future...Especially for that Sizzling Fried Rice! The staff was nice, attentive and fast paced since like I previously mentioned, they're trying to get patrons in and out as fast as they can. Also...I had NO IDEA that the Blossoming Flower Tea would have an ACTUAL flower blossoming in my tea! Such a cool thing to see. :-)

Finally we give this restaurant a try after many years. We haveen thinking about having meals here for years but never made it. Mostly because everytime we pass by, it was always busy. This morning we stopped by just after they opened. We were seated right away. Interior is basic with many famous people picture on the wall. This restaurant has been opened for many years and popular and lately get more exposure because of House of Fang which is netflix series and the restaurant is owned by the daughter of this restaurant. There are plenty item on the menu but not overwhelming. It is common chinese dishes with some looks like their speciality like house noodle. We ordered House noodle with beef. It is unique hand-pulled with black sesame sauce. It is good. The wonton with chili oil is good. The spicy melt in your mouth pork belly with cabbage is also good. The tea is quite expensive but each glass get one blossom. It was good. Pricewise it is reasonable. The restroom decor is very interesting and very dim of light. I think it needs to be brighter. One thing I cannot handle was when the waiter and people in the kitchen yelled at each other in cantonese for quite sometimes and it was loud. People come to enjoy the food and not to hear noises.

Food: 4/5Service: 2.5Ambiance 2.5Don't expect glitz and glam but their food was pretty good. I had the pork steamed buns and the house noodles with beef. Everything was balanced well and the food did come out pretty quick. As a solo diner I was seated at a crowded/cramped table outside in the sidewalk, I didn't expect any thing fancy given it being Chinatown and the hustle and bustle. I did expect a bit more service wise. It seems they want you in and out as fast as possible. Before I had time to look over the menu, they asked what I wanted, said I needed a few minutes. Not even a minute goes by and someone else asks hastily if I'm ready to order. To appease them I put in an order of the steamed buns. What seemed like less than 30s later someone else asked if I was a ready to order more. I felt rushed in my decision making as they do have quite a bit on the menu. Once my food did come, not a word or visit from anyone. A little disappointed given the rave reviews I've heard from other people and online Reddit boards etc. given how big Chinatown is, if you're looking for the trifecta, I'd look elsewhere. If you want decent food and don't care about anything else, this place would be for you.

Friends, visiting SF for the weekend, and stopped by! Nanking did not disappoint. What this fast paced establishment lacked in fancy environment, it made up by putting it all on the table! Lilly our server walked up, took control, and made fantastic recommendations! Food was hot, tasty, and plentiful. Service was fast, and the ambiance was buzzing with excitement. I highly recommend!!!!

This place was amazing!!!! If you are looking for a cool experience you must check this place out! For parties of 6 or you highly recommend making a reservation. There were only 3 of us so we didn't have to wait to long. We opted for the restaurant to bring us what they thought we would liked. We told them what protein and about how many dishes we wanted and they took care of the rest. They asked if we had any allergies before preparing our dishes which we thought was good practice. We brought our own wine for a $15 corkage fee not bad for SF. Now on to the good stuff. Every dish they brought out was piping hot and flavors were excellent. The sizzling rice was something I've never would had order so I'm glad they brought it out. The beef was so tender with the perfect crisp and shrimp was cooked for perfection. If you like a little kick of spice I suggest you ask for the hot oil really combined well with the rice and chicken. I definitely will be back maybe next time I'll get to try some noodles. Parking can be a pain but the place is worth the visit. Very cute warm restaurant. They even had outdoor seating as well. Check them out, you won't be disappointed.

House of Nanking is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is cozy yet vibrant, with decor that exudes cultural charm and creates a unique dining experience. The service was exceptional. Being first-timers, we weren't sure what to order, but the hostess was incredibly helpful and recommended their famous sesame chicken and the table-side fried rice--an experience in itself. Now, the food--simply outstanding! The sesame chicken was perfectly cooked, and the flavors in the fried rice were incredible. Together, they made for a meal we won't forget. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

This spot is definitely unique with its dishes but delivers short of what my tastebuds would favor. They have limited seating and wall decorations that featured awards including celebrities that have dined there. I was disappointed to not see any traditional dim sum. However their pork buns were worth adding the extra stars for this review. If it were not for the buns, I would have given this a 1 star.

After hearing about this place for a while I decided to finally check it out. Got a table easily with no wait the day before thanksgiving. The inside is decorated with articles and pictures of notable guests like Keanu Reeves. Got the chili wontons and pork bao to start. Pork bao was good, but the wontons lacked flavor and were kind of dry. The calamari is ok but would've preferred it to be salt and pepper. Not sure what was going on with the sauce and seasonings. There was too much cumin and the flavors weren't working for me. The sesame chicken was the biggest disappointment. Way too sweet and I couldn't eat more than 4 or 5 pieces. There's much better Chinese food around, I would skip this spot and go somewhere else.

Very good and not bad prices for the noodles. I wish the beans were a bit more crispy and the noodles were very sweet and oily. If you get there without a line I'd say try it out they're very busy and there's only one bathroom and little space to wait in line.
