You can definitely smell the goods before you even walk through the door. Once you step foot inside, the cashier welcomes you in and takes your order. The staff is very kind and so accommodating. My advice is to try your nata with cinnamon (trust me). Then you're handed your order and you'll see the light, flaky crust and the caramelized custard filling. As soon as you take a bite, you can hear the dough shatter like a too-tier croissant. Then you get hit with the soft, almost gooey filling. So good!

Customer service here can get someone in a bad mood. When I asked a question about their products, it felt like I was asking for something for free. Almost the same feeling as when my work was giving out swag and the person handing it out made me feel like I was begging for it.Natas are good. The crust has quite a flour taste, perhaps it was underbaked. If anything, I have no plans to return if this is how I am treated as a customer. I can get my egg tart cravings satisfied elsewhere.

They say money can't buy happiness. They say your dollar isn't going as far as it used to. Well, you can guy a Holy Nata egg tart for ~$3 and get happiness for a pretty low price. Service is ok. Ambiance is fine. You grab and go and smile on the road. It's located off a main street so can be hard to find, but it's near Montgomery BART. I like how they have different flavors. Tarts are eggy, flaky, warm, and good for the soul. Packaging is cute and aesthetic, I'll be back for sure, and will grab more than one because sharing is caring.

Was super excited to try this place given allll the hype and when I walked up, there was a fire engine outside where they had stopped in for some pastel de nata as well! Lol, right at opening there were people starting to queue..thankfully I was the third one in and was able to order 6 traditional flavor with cinnamon. The inside is tiny, so maybe 3-5 people can stand inside at once. There are no seats, just a counter but there is outdoor seating in the same side street if you wanted to just take a few bites there. The pastel de nata were really good..but not 5-star good in my opinion. The custard was a bit more fluid and a bit more sweet than eggy. The crust was harder and less flakey than i would've hoped. I did also just come back from Portugal less than 3 months ago, so my opinion was likely greatly swayed from that beyond amazing experience. Overall, good place to try but not really the best of the best if you prefer a more eggy and flaky egg tart!

At first I was a nonbeliever and skeptical of the Holy one. I heard and seen all the hype and I had to determine if the Holy Nata was even a contender in the mass sea of endless egg tart options in San Francisco. There is something about these egg tarts which was different than the rest I had in San Francisco. The Holy Nata is located in the Trinity place alley in the FiDi. The Holy Nata has a Portuguese egg tart which tasted as if a custard, mochi, and pudding had created a tart. It also had a hint of an apple pie texture . It was a tasty creamy, savory , smooth and not too sweet treat. Holy Nata is very transparent about their tarts and they bake them in front of anyone who comes in to pick them up. Don't expect any ambience and seating to complement the delicious tarts which speaks for itself. The Holy Nata is in a league of its own. Come and have a Holy experience and have a egg tart with the Holy Nata taste It's located between Sutter and Montgomery streets in an alley at 8 Trinity place

The most delicious pasteis de Nata I've tasted outside of Portugal. Ran by Portuguese founders/owners, we're lucky to have it available to us in the city and as authentic as it gets. They're located down an alleyway in the heart of FiDi behind Chase bank conveniently a couple blocks from Montgomery BART station in SF. Make use of their Rewards program and try all the flavors (Nutella, pistachio, peanut butter, and traditional). You can schedule a pre-order beforehand especially if taking with you to a potluck or party. You'll be the talk of the town!

Whenever I go to our SF office, I've passed by Holy Nata signs and always wanted to stop by for Pastel de Nata, (Portuguese Egg Custard tart) but never got the opportunity until now. Holy Nata is located on Trinity place, an alley way between Bush St and Sutter St; and the best way to get here is by foot. Coming here reminded me so much of our visit to Lisbon, Portugal where there were a multitude of bakeries selling Pastel de Nata. This is a small store where you can only order to-go, no dine in. It's amazing to watch the bakers make this special pastry! That day, they were offering pumpkin spice and peanut butter flavors, that I had to try them with the original flavor. I find ordering multiples will get you the best value, they even give you a 4% discount when you pay cash. Service was fast, pastries were served warm. The staff even offered dusting my pastries with cinnamon which is the traditional way of having them. I ordered a pack of 6; the size of the pastry is good for 2-3 bites. The Pastel de Nata were the BOMB! No wonder Holy Nata is names one of SF's best bakeries! No need to travel to Portugal when you can get Pastel de Nata here. Highly recommend Holy Nata if ever in SF! Will definitely come back here again and time it on a Thursday when they have a special flavor on the menu.

I stopped by after seeing Holy Nata on social media, and I am so, so, so glad I did! As a dan tat fan, I was very excited to try their related pastry. I ordered a box of 8 traditional Pastel de Nata, which was a little over $20 pre-tax/tip (plus they gave me an extra one just because, which was really nice of them). These pastries were incredible! The crust was so flaky, and the custard was smooth, airy, and slightly sweet. If any of the workers ask if you'd like the cinnamon dusting on top, always say yes! I'm looking forward to trying the other flavors in the future. This small shop is in an alleyway in the Financial District and it's pretty easy to miss. It is also a grab and go spot with no seating. There was no wait when I went (probably because it was raining so hard), but if there is a wait, online ordering is also available.

These Portuguese egg tarts are soooooo good and creamy! It's not too heavy, and it's not too sweet! The crust is baked to perfection! You do have to come early as they do sell out pretty early! I remember coming by around 2:30-3pm one day and they already had a sign outside stating that they were sold out! Service is a hit or miss, I've had a nice cashier that assisted me and I've had one that wasn't so nice... maybe she was having a bad day or people kept going on even when they were sold out, not sure. Either way, still worth a try tho, it'll be worth it, and I'd still go back!

Portuguese egg tarts (pastel de nata) seem a little difficult to come by in SF. Holy Nata's opening days are limited, currently open Tuesdays to Fridays. However if you get the chance to stop by, do it! The egg tarts are sweet and delicious with a beautifully flakey crust. Portion size is perfect for me as well, 2-3 bites a pastry and I can probably eat only 1-2 because they're quite rich. Service is super quick. If you go at opening, there's no line. But they also have an online order/pickup system to streamline things, and there's no seating so it's more a grab and go place.
