The food was really bland and lacked freshness (especially the sushi), and some dishes even seemed to be sitting out for too long. The staff were nice and cleanliness of the restaurant was ok, but overall the environment was very outdated + not very inviting. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend it to others (spend your money elsewhere).

Food was amazing I loved the coconut shrimp, and orange chicken. Caution !!!!! They charge a 20% waste fee!!!!! I wish they would have told us before sitting us down they do have a sign posted on the way out and you would only see it if you knew to look for it. However staff was nice and it is a great place to fill up with good food just don't waste any cause that bill will shoot up. We did have a party of 12 and definitely left with a frown on how overcharged we were but again food wasn't bad and staff were nice! Would go again and make sure the kiddos don't waste food to avoid that fee.

My friends had their son's red egg and ginger party here, in the back private party room. Great for large groups. The buffet was well stocked, kept clean and refreshed often. For the 3 hours we were there, I didn't see any items that ran out of were not hot/warm. The servers were attentive to our drink orders and clearing out our plates and tables. Normally I am not a big fan of buffets, but my strategy was not to load up on carbs, but to taste small portions of things and if I liked it, I would go back for more. My favorites were the custard bao, caramelized little bananas, the sashimi, and battered shrimp. I finished with the soft serve on a cone. I did not try everything, but was selective in my choices. Would I come back on my own if it was an event? Most likely not, because I don't usually go to buffets. But this one was not bad. The people all seemed very nice, so if you do like buffets and want to eat decent food, give this one a try and let me know what you liked.

Compared to the other buffets in the bay area this is one the best base on fair value and quality of food. Their selection specially the sushi buffet is the best among the price range of other places. I highly recommend this place if you want sushi buffet and hot food for a good price.

A great variety of different foods, chicken all kinds of soups, but the best thing about this restaurant is the sushi for what you pay and I'm a senior $18 less than dollar you can't beat the sushi. The service is impeccable. The kids at work there always get a good tip for me sometimes up to $10 because they just right there. So you want some good sushi? You don't want to pay an arm on a leg. You go to this restaurant HOK. K. AID o.

It has been awhile since I went to Hokkaido Buffet at 3830 Stevens Creek Blvd, San Jose, CA 95117. I have gone during lunch and dinner and have always found the buffet to be excellent.Today is the first day of 2024, so I went to lunch at Hokkaido and found that they were on their "A" Game. Since it was a holiday, the price was a bit higher.I was greeted by a very nice, polite hostess, who helped me locate a table of my choosing. The bus person was very polite and attentive to my drink and dirty plates. Everyone I saw was dressed professionally. Now to the buffet-what a sight to see! I was primarily interested in the Sushi table-I was not disappointed. Everything I tried was fresh and delicious. The main tables had dim sum, fresh fruit, beef ribs, egg rolls, soup, various fish, and the list goes on and on. The ambiance is very nice and clean. During my visit the restaurant was pretty full with large families. I noted some of the poorer reviews made reference to the price of the buffet. To me, the price is fine for what your getting-a quality buffet that is constantly monitored by the chef and cleaned by employees.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this buffet! Make sure you're hungry and save room for desserts and ice cream.

We went here New Year's Day for lunch and it was somewhat busy, probably 70% of the tables filled? When we got in I saw they had a sign showing they would charge the holiday/weekend price which ended up being $100+ after tax for 4. We probably should have called before showing up as I thought that price was outrageous for the quality of food we got. At the regular weekday pricing it was already a hard decision for us.The sushi was meh. They offered some sashimi and 5-ish styles of California rolls which were all the same other than a change of sauce and toppings. The sushi was cold, as if they had recently taken it out of the freezer. There wasn't ice or anything on the sushi, it was just really cold.Aside from that they mostly had Chinese food and it was barely edible. I didn't fill myself up because I was afraid of getting sick and they had tons of oil on everything. Even the broccoli beef had left layers of oil on my plate.I still got sick. Lasted about a week and I was scared to eat broccoli for almost a month.

we were just there last night 7/8/25. it's been a while I haven't gone to Hokkaido. I remember the last time I was there was probably last year and I have to be honest food was freshly cooked, the taste was good though packed but it was tolerable for me. However i was very very disappointed last night. not one of the food that I ate tasted fresh and the taste in all these food were so bland and very salty. Beef and pork were tough to chew that I left those in my plate uneaten. The mussels were stinky, very strong smell.I wonder what happed to their quality? it has gone down really bad. I'm sad because I used to like it. Service was good, ambience was okay.
