Twenty-four of us sat on two tables for dim sum lunch. Watch where you indicate 1 or 2 orders on the menu. Since we cant read Chinese, The item we ordered was next to the English name. So we were given 2 wrong items. We received the food item below what we wanted to order. The staff was nice enough to remove the unwanted item and did not charge us. An order of The pork ribs was big - Like 2 orders. The shrimp dumplings were pretty big. It was a full house and we didn't wait long for our table. Parking is really difficult so make sure you allow time. We ended up parking across the street. The staff didn't even rush us out after 2 hours. So we had plenty of time to talk at the end of our meal.

Sister made lunch reservation for family reunion of 25 people. Restaurant gave her 2 tables at 1 p.m. on a Sunday. She was worried that we would not have our food served before the restaurant closed for their afternoon break before dinner.Half of the group arrived 15 minutes before the lunch reservation time. At the given time, they only had one table ready for us. It was very difficult for the attendant to the eldest guest to maneuver the wheelchair through a narrow corridor and between tables to get the elderly person to the table. 2nd table had a nicer view of the planes coming in and flying out over the water.A lot of food was ordered too much to be listed, but I'll put down what I recall. We ordered pork and crab roe siu mai, roasted duck, beef chow fun (a must when there are any American born Chinese in the group), steamed sticky rice in lotus leaf, pan-seared turnip cake, steamed egg custard buns (I agree with other Yelpers that the purple color is unnecessary), simmered bean curd skin rolls, preserved egg and pork congee, fish fillet congee, Portuguese baked custard tarts, garlic okra, cilantro rice noodle rolls, green tea and mango pancakes, and fried sesame balls. We were not eating fast enough, and the server would place food on plates to make room on the table. The eldest guest and the next oldest man at the table did not have happy expressions on their faces. The food was good with the exception of the fried sesame balls. We've had them elsewhere where they were less chewy and had better filling. It's a lot of money if you can't enjoy eating the food at a leisurely pace in the company of your family.

I recently visited HL Peninsula for dim sum with my parents during the holidays. The ambiance was lively and festive, which was fitting for dim sum. The service was prompt and we got seated relatively quick. As for the food, it was just average. Some dishes, like the shrimp dumplings and BBQ pork buns, were decent but it wasn't anything special. We ordered one of their specials with porridge and stir fried noodle. The dished lacked a lot of flavor and it didn't come out hot. Overall, the food was pretty average and I think there are better alternatives in the area full of dim sum. Price wise, it was definitely on the pricer end.

Came here for a 16-course dinner banquet with friends. Our hostess ordered cucumbers, black algae or fungus, roast squab, suckling pig, chicken, Wagyu beef with mushrooms and peppers, chicken ginger soup (great!), sweet Kurobuta pork considered the Wagyu of pork, Chinese broccoli, chicken with asparagus, princess chicken, shrimp balls, lobster with spicy vermicelli noodles, red bean and tapioca soup, redbean in light fried balls, cookies, and Portuguese custard tarts for dessert. Everything was delicious! Service was attentive where they changed your plates during the meal. We sat in one of the private rooms upstairs. Main dining hall was downstairs. There's a deck that overlooks the peninsula. Free parking on the lot. See manager Danny about dinner suggestions and a reservation. Place was busy on New Year's Day!

Big dim sum venue, if you're lucky they'll give you a table by the water. They don't push carts around but rather you mark on paper what items you'd like.We tried a variety of dishes but I felt none of it was super memorable or flavorful. They also don't give chili unless you ask and even then they seem stingy with it. Weve had to refill our chili a couple times. The shu mai was big though. My favorite was probably the fried rice lol

I recently dined at HL Peninsula Pearl in Burlingame, and the menu is a nice mix of traditional dishes. I highly recommend the dumplings--they were steamed well and flavorful. The seafood options are also a standout; the freshness was evident in every bite. Service was good. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, and they were very pleasant. We had the sesame balls filled with red bean and mango pudding; it was the right balance of sweetness. If you're looking for a dining spot that combines delicious food and a view of the Bay where you can see planes landing, HL Peninsula Pearl is a good option.

To me, the biggest reason why you would come here to eat is the "view" of the outside when you are eating. If you are able to snag a seat next to the arched windows in the restaurant, you can look out into the nice water and even see planes taking off. I think this is kind of unique to this place.Other than that, the Dim Sum experience is pretty decent with nice portion sizes and good taste. My colleagues and I ordered a bunch of different menu and everyone was satisfied after we finished. They also have a huge parking lot outside the restaurant so there shouldn't be an issue finding parking. However, we went at lunch during a weekday and the parking lot was pretty full. I can't imagine what the weekend would look like. I also found the spaces to be pretty tight so driving a big SUV might prove to be a challenge.

Met up with an old friend for my birthday dim sum lunch. HL Peninsula Pearl took over the space of a large Mexican restaurant right on the water with views of the San Francisco Bay. HL has a large dim sum menu and you order off a check list. The interior is dominated with a huge video wall that has a continuous advertising loop. The restaurant was full but we got seated right away. Along with the traditional Siu Mai, Ha Gao, congee, pork ribs with black bean sauce rice rolls, and chicken feet etc..Some of the stand outs were the deep fried pumpkin with salty duck egg yolk, and bbq pork turnover. The portions are larger than normal. Service was slow, cold and indifferent. But it would not feel normal if the Cantonese service was any other way at a dim sum house. Minus star. Gratuity is added automatically, perhaps that's why. Parking is always tough with the large dim sum houses in the Peninsula. $150 with tip.
