Damn, so first review since I've returned from my hiatus, thus loosing my elite status. Sorry to my fans, I'm a grad student, I don't have time for my silly little reviews. My boyfriend and I are continuing the burger tour of SF at Hi-Way, since it's in close proximity to The Peaks, where we can play some pool. You can tell it's some "authentic burger place shit" (my boyfriend's words) when they have an old school menu, a visible flat top and free pickles and peppers. We took full advantage of the pickles, filling the flimsy white cups 3 times. The order: 2 cheese burgers, garlic fries, regular fries, can o' white wine, and a fountain drink.Hi-Way gives you exactly what you pay for. A decent burger with no frills, malt sauce packets (shout out the UK), and a nice place to sit and read 1 Star yelp reviews of the respective establishments that my boyfriend and I work at.As for the ranking on the burger tour (see previous reviews of Hazies, ABV, and Sam's reviews), I'd say this place was pretty good but didn't blow either of us away, but was still a tasty meal. If we lived in the area, we'd probably frequent on a regular basis when hungover or needing a quick and well priced meal. This may cause some controversy, but this was miles ahead of Sam's, which I still can't believe was Anthony Bourdain's favorite,

My kids love the food from here, and it's been a staple of the family for a long time. But once again, the same issue keeps happening--the store just doesn't confirm orders on delivery apps.I completely understand that Friday and Saturday nights are busy, but other places manage to either staff properly for online orders or simply stop accepting them if they can't keep up. Instead, I keep having to cancel my order 15 minutes in because it's just left hanging. It's frustrating and makes it really hard to rely on this place.I wish they would just decide one way or another--either commit to handling online orders or don't support them at all. I'm honestly sad about it, because we really do love the food.

Ordered the broccoli thinking they would be fried, similar to tempura. Even though I was disappointed in getting a healthy serving of steamed veggies, I can't deny that they were cooked very well. The burger was overall good. Was not blown away. The overall size of the sandwich was pretty big. I'm usually a big advocate for onions on my burgers but the amount of raw onions on this burger was too much. Had to remove some as it made me tear up after a couple bites. I would come back and get other sides and no onions. Would probably be better.

I ordered a very basic, basic meal (minus a beverage): Cheeseburger and Broccoli Crowns.I assumed that Broccoli Crowns were fried tempura broccoli. I think the "big backedness" in me assumed this. I had been longing for fried tempura broccoli every since the The Cheesesteak Shop took it off their menu.....lol. Yes, the Broccoli Crowns were picked and steamed to perfection. The seasoning tasted little to no salt and I was satisfied with this healthy side of my order. The emphasis of the toasted sesame seed bun of my burger overshadowed the inside of my hamburger patty and all of its the veggies. I think I would have enjoyed the cheeseburger a little bit more if it was a double (or even a triple patty). Now I understand why Super Duper Burger and Five Guys offer "Mini" and "Little" Burgers as their 1-patty burger!!! A 1/4 lb. patty is the default in most places, and restaurants know that customers like myself crave for a STANDARD burger which is meaty (and sizable) enough to scarf down. Therefore, Super Duper and Five Guys offer an "inferior" product called "mini", or "little". When customers see this, they're like, "No way, I'm hungry....I need at least a decent, standard burger! If a 1 patty is considered a 'mini'.....give me a SUPER (2 patties).......You see, burger places are psyching us out. It's a conspiracy, I tell ya'...just kidding (but kinda true).I felt this way after ordering the standard, Cheeseburger at Hi-Way. I got what I ordered and it was a decent burger. I couldn't recall any juicy, messiness...just a neatly smashed, and crisped patty. Keep in mind, I've pulled away from the Smash Burger patty phase since thin patties don't impress me.The ambiance is this Noe Valley location is cozy. It feels like I'm tucked inside of a village. Hi-Way didn't have that burger or "diner" feel to it. It was rather unique and peaceful. The neighboring park made Hi-Way a good, low-key to get drunk off of broccolis and beers.Overall, Hi-Way is a 3.5. If you come here for a burger, try getting at least a double.

While there's clearly no shortage of neighborhood burger joints dotting the entirety of SF, there was something different about Hi-Way Burger compared to all of the others. The reviews looked great, the photos looked even better, and the prices seemed more than fair. Of course, it also said a lot that Hi-Way Burger has two location (the other is in North Beach), which is always a good sign. After all, if that neighborhood burger joint is actually able to grow and call two neighborhoods home, then they're clearly doing something right!Like so many of the other businesses and eateries in Noe Valley, this Hi-Way Burger is a rather quaint spot. In a lot of ways, it's rather simple - the kitchen is small in stature, though fine given their menu, and there's a small drink and condiment station, though there's a wealth of seating both inside and out. As for the aforementioned menu, it's pretty straightforward in its range of offerings, but it's no less appealing with its assortment of burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, sides, and ice creams/shakes. In short, just about what you might expect and yet, this place far exceeded my expectations!-- CHEESEBURGER - Grass Fed Ground Beef Patty, Lettuce, Tomato, Choice of Cheese (Pepper Jack), and Secret Sauce on a Sesame Bun...$9.95Not only did this look great, but it tasted awesome, too! The patty was juicy with a nice char, the cheese was melted well, and the veggies were fresh. I do wish the patty was meatier, but my biggest issue was with the bun - not bad, but a little bready and dry.-- GARLIC FRIES with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Parsley, and Parmesan Cheese...$4.95This was terrific! The fries were crispy and had a nice garlickiness that made its way throughout the entire mound of fries. What's more, there was a fair amount of cheese too, though I wish there was more of it (never not applies, to be fair).-- ONION RINGS...$7.95Not as good as the garlic fries, but not bad either. The onion rings were very crispy, tasted sweet, and didn't have that heavy greasy sensation with every bite. I just wish this came with some sort of dipping sauce, whether it be blue cheese or some ranch.-- CALIFORNIA CLUB FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH - Fried Chicken Sandwich with Cheese (Pepper Jack), Crispy Bacon, and Avocado...$13.95Despite most of the fried chicken losing its crispiness under everything, the edges were still great and the inside was really moist. I also liked how well the cheese and bacon complemented the chicken and the freshness the veggies added, but I had the same issues with this bun again. As for what seemed to set Hi-Way Burger apart from so many other burger joints is that it checked off all of the points mentioned above and tasted just as good. What's more, it tasted as clean as it looked in the photos - none of that oily greasiness you might expect at a burger joint and it didn't leave me with that heavy sensation in my stomach when I was done. The bigger and more pleasant surprise, though, was how easy it was to find parking around here. Granted, none of my visits were during peak hours on the weekend, but I didn't expect to be able to essentially have my choice of where I wanted to park, including a bunch of non-metered spaces.Aside from the buns, and the batty and onion rings to a certain degree, this was almost good enough to round up from FOUR AND A HALF STARS. Even with "just" four stars, though, Hi-Way Burger just might have shot its way up towards the top of my favorite burger joints. Of course, that's without even mentioning the complimentary pickles and jalapenos!

I had just arrived at SFO and was in dire need of a greasy, fast, and delicious burger. Yelp suggested this place and i headed to the closest location. I was so glad i risked illegally parking to come here - even if i had gotten a ticket (i didnt) it would've been worth it because it was exactly what my body needed that day. This is a no nonsense place - the dining room has seating and the workers are there to make you food. If you want a nicer ambiance, their outdoor seating area is great, and is nice for people with dogs or kids. Prices are fantastic, and way better than most comparable meals in San Fran. For just a few bucks you can get a delicious burger, lots of fries, and a milkshake that will leave you salivating weeks later. The sauce they put on their burgers is delectable. I'll be coming back, and so should you!

Super cute diner style burger. Just tell them whether you want raw or grilled onions on your burger and that's as much customization as you'd need. Pickles and hot peppers are provided at their well stocked and organized toppings bar. The burger came fresh off the griddle on toasted sesame buns. It was nutty, beefy, and juicy. A single cheeseburger is just filling. The garlic fries were also pretty good, but at the end, the oil on the fries tasted a little fishy. The employees are nice and it really feels like a beloved neighborhood spot.

Delicious burgers! No frills, no fuss, just exactly what you're looking for if you're craving a burger. The fries taste like In n Out's to me. Perfect to take to-go but if you need a quick bite, they have seating.

The burger here is a smash and it was juicy with flavor. The beer battered onion rings and cheese fries were delicious. I did get a shake with those fries which makes it a great combination. This is a good casual place grab good food in Noe Valley . This place does it my way, The Hi-Way.
