Really love cute homey diners so decided to give Hamburger Haven a try on a Sunday around 1pm. There were a decent amount of people already there, but luckily they have lots of seating available! We ordered the salmon Benedict, sub home potatoes with french fries and the California omelette with hash browns. It was a pleasant surprise that the food was ready within 10 minutes. Omlette and hash browns were yummy -- very generous with the avocado. Salmon benedict was fine, tasted like what you would expect -- eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was good. The english muffin was pretty soggy and the fries lacked some flavor/seasoning. With all that said, I would totally come back and try their other dishes! Vibes were really good and I could tell it was a classic neighborhood spot.

I'm a sucker for local homey town diners.I should try other things here but I feel like I got the old soul of if it ain't broke, don't fix it!I usually get the french toast breakfast or pancake breakfast. French toast is very eggy which is fantastic. Pancake is a normal pancake nothing too big or crazy. Usually get that when I had the french toast recently.Me and the wife go here for breakfast on the weekends or on my WFH days. Its nice and the people here are sick. There's also a cool photo of the Owners and Robin Williams on the wall. RIP man. It can get busy here but its a diner, just wait your turn and there's usually a quick turn around. Its a tough waiting area kind of spot. So if you got a family, just post up outside. Its okay if its cold, that just makes going inside to eat all more better when it happens. Also they post local events that are happening which I thought was dope. I'm sure other spots do too but that's just something we noticed on our routine. There's like night markets! Been tryna go. Anyways... give this place a shot because the diners downtown are cool too but parking is a mofo lmao. Parking here is whatever but not as bad.

This place has always been here but we've never actually tried it, so we finally decided to go. We came on a Sunday around noon, and were seated quickly. Patty melt - 5/5, juicy delicious patty sandwiched by two perfectly browned slices of bread. Comes with some pickles, a tomato, a lettuce leaf, and fries. Yum! Fries were decent.Tuna melt - 5/5, lots of tuna sandwiched by beautiful bread. Comes with pickles and fries. Super thick and flavorful, definitely on the heavier side but worth it.Salmon benedict - 3/5, typical benedict with smoked salmon. AlrightSpinach omelet - 3.5/5, delicious combo of mushroom, spinach and cheese paired with potatoes. Can't go too wrong with mushroom spinach omelets, but the potatoes were lacking crispiness and flavor.I personally would only come here for sandwiches/melts and burgers.

In the interest of being entirely transparent, I should note that I have a pretty strong bias for Hamburger Haven. Their breakfast options and burgers may not by my favorite, let alone the best in SF, but my affinity for this place goes beyond just the food. Don't get me wrong - objectively, it really is pretty good, but, for me, I have so many memories of coming here growing up that it would take a whole lot of things to go wrong to erase all of that nostalgia!Although the neighborhood around them has changed quite a bit in the 55+ years they've been open, so much about Hamburger Haven has stayed the same (in the best of ways). While I get why folks describe this as a greasy spoon sort of spot, I think of them more as a throwback - a traditional diner without a lot of frills. They've got a bunch of counter seats, with handful of small, two person booths and some tables in the back, and their menu is more comfort than trendy. They've got your classic eggs and bacon/sausage plates, omelets, pancakes, French Toast, pancakes, and benedicts along with a variety of burgers, sandwiches, and salads. Simple, but no less appealing!-- IRISH BREAKFAST - Imported Irish Bacon and Sausage, Two Eggs, Hash Browns (or Country Potatoes), and Choice of Toast (English Muffin)...$18.95This isn't my typical, go-to order, but it's not often I see Irish breakfast offered! The Irish bacon was great and the sausage was moist, though I like American sausages better. As for the hash browns, they were nice and crispy, but the eggs felt a little too buttery.-- IRISH BURGER - 8oz Angus Beef Chuck and Brisket Patty with Irish Bacon, Mushrooms, Avocado, Jack Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickles, and Mayo with Fries (or Coleslaw)...$16.95The better of the Irish dishes I had and cheaper too! The burger is very juicy, yet not messy to eat, and the Irish bacon worked well with the mushrooms and avocado (which they gave so much of!). What's more, I loved how fresh the veggies were and the fries were so crispy. Delish!Along with how solid the food is, the other thing I love about Hamburger Haven is how great the service is. Every time I've been here over the years, I've always been greeted with a friendly hello and the staff is always warm and welcoming. What's more, they get dishes out relatively quick, which you can watch thanks to their open kitchen. The one thing that is unfortunate is that Hamburger Haven hasn't been immune to having to raise their prices over the years. However, even though the price may not be the same as it used to be, everything is as consistent as ever, which is rather comforting to know. Then again, considering how this place is still owned by the same family that opened it, it should have been expected! Here's to hoping this place sticks around for another 55+ years so I can continue to relive the memories whenever I'm here!

This was such a cute, old timey breakfast diner. I love it when you eat somewhere smaller and you overhear regulars talking with the servers about how their kids are doing because they've been coming here for so long. The booths were comfortable, and it was nice that they had some that perfectly sat just 2 people. I had a California BLT sandwich and my boyfriend ordered a mushroom omelet. I thought the food was just normal, and having one large lettuce leaf and couple of tomato and pickle slices on the side seemed a bit odd to me since I'm not eating a burger. Servers were very nice and attentive, and our waitress came by many times to ask how we were doing and to give coffee refills.

Cute neighborhood diner for breakfast, brunch or lunch. A little bit of a wait on an early Sunday morning but not more than 10mins. The wait staff is efficient and our food arrived promptly. Refills on the coffee were timely as well. I would recommend the Irish breakfast or the burger with onion rings. Delicious and better ambiance than a Mel's diner. Its consistently good - nothing mind blowing but happy to have it in the neighborhood. Next time would try the corned beef and the biscuits with gravy - the table next to us got that and it looked great!

When our original choice for breakfast was closed, we pivoted to Hamburger Haven and were not disappointed. If you want a legit diner breakfast in the Richmond, this is the place. The coffee was weak but plentiful, service attentive, and sitting at the bar felt like a fun throwback to another time.

Love this no fuss 70s diner and the food is always on point! We came here for a late lunch / early dinner and looking forward to the next meal! We sat at our usual table, menus are located on the window with the condiments, our usual waiter (i don't know her name, but she wears glasses) is friendly and got us drinks while we looked over the menu. I got my usual: Denver omelette that consisted of ham, bell pepper, onions, and cheddar cheese, with hash browns and sour dough toast for $18.95We also got to try their hamburger, which is a first for us because it's usually breakfast food we'll get. My bf got a cheeseburger with onion rings for $15.95

What can I say. I have been coming here since I was 13 years old. I'm 64 now. The restaurant has been taken over by the previous owners's (retired) son. I was concerned this place was gonna disappear (such as all the the places I like), during the Covid pandemic. I think it was closed for 2 years. I began to be hopeful when I saw some remodeling being done. The place looks 99% like it always did. There is a God!The food is consistent. A couple of the cooking staff came back. One actually came up to me to say hello. "How are you and your family, he asks. I remember you sat in the back dinning area mostly." I'm a nobody, but I'm someone that he remembers. It is now 0745 am. I'm happy to have breakfast again at the Hamburger Haven"
