Grasslands Bar & Lounge

Quaint little dive bar within the confines of Chinatown. Service was fine. Beers were cold. Conversations were solid. Would do again.

Grasslands is a very locals- neighborhood bar/pub that is a great place to have a cold beer and great conversation with friends. Unfortunately they don't have food but there is a Quickly right next door and the bartender lets you bring in any food you like as long as you have a beverage of your choice. I went with the pb&j shot with my pear cider. And yes the shot tastes like a pb&j. There are plenty of comfortable bars stools and a cool jukebox for tunes. Stopped in this bar after leaving dinner next door. There were just a couple people in there but we weee quickly greeted by a very friendly bartender. She recommended a couple drinks while she chatted with us and she prepared them. They have a music box (not sure what they are called but you can pick your songs and don't have to pay which is a super bonus. Drinks reasonably priced for San Fran. Not much parking near by so probably better to take public transportation/ride share.

Definitely a no frills dive bar located in Chinatown that's perfect for reasonably priced drinks. The vibe is chill; what you'd expect from a dive bar in the middle of the day after brunch hours.There were five of us and we took up a section of the bar. There was still about 2/3 of the bar left as well as seating against the wall. The bartender was very attentive and and fun. We were a bit rowdy from a previous bar but the bartender hyped us up which added to the fun of it all. Location wise, Grasslands is perfectly situated next to a bunch of great restaurants so this spot is perfect for both before a meal or after one.

So the decor isn't anything special just a simple small bar which mostly locals come here but I luv it. They really hook you up on your drinks. The prices for f drinks is great which is surprising, especially for the area and it's a fun place to hang out too. Everyone even the customers are pretty cool. They must be regulars there lol. Overall, I recommend this place.

Maggie is a great bartender. Maggie is a gem and she is always catering to the customer. One of my favorite bartenders in San Francisco. Great vibes and good people. This place rocks.

Came in for a nightcap after dinner with friends- and what a mistake!! The bartender was drunk as hell- she could barely take our order. When she finally handed us one drink out of the four we ordered- she took my credit card off the bar and threw it at me- for no reason! I asked her if she was ok?? She was mumbling and waving her arms erratically. My husband turned to me and said let's get out of here- this is nuts!! My friends and I agreed and we left. As we were walking out the bartender started yelling profanities at us!! What a nut job!! And what a waste of an amazing space that borders North Beach and Chinatown. We are natives- and have NEVER been treated with such disrespect in a bar in SF. Folks- stay away!! Go across the street the Specs- where you will be treated right! Hate that we cannot give zero stars on Yelp! This place does not even deserve one!!

I always go here with my friends it's usually our end of the night stop! The bartender Maggie is AWSOME she always super nice and takes care of us when ever we are there, they have a music machinery chose your own songs it's pretty cheap for 5$ you get to pick a couple songs and they have a few arcade machines well! Grate place to go and chill!

We stopped in for a drink )and then another drink) before a dinner reservation in the neighborhood. There were no other customers there when we arrived. The bartender was friendly and generous with the pours. It's just the kind of place I like for a drink. I don't want crowds and thumping music..

Low key and unwinding. The bartenders are the best and make beautifully crafted drinks!
