This is going to be my mid-week WFH treat from now on. I came here on a sunny beautiful Wednesday for lunch. I was craving for escargots and this place has it while I was searching on doordash. I debated whether I should order online and have it deliver or get myself out of the house (it's about 10 minutes drive from my home but I worried about the parking situation). BUT man, I'm so glad that I came to the restaurant in person and had my lunch over there!!! While the escargots were not cooked in the butter sauce in a baked dish, this place serves the escargots in this beautiful cream sauce along with flakey pastry and it satisfies my craving perfectly. I also ordered the mussels as well and THEY WERE PERFECT. I really want to try their steak tartare - I know that is something I will order next time.Parking is easier than my expectation. This place seems to get fill up quickly during lunch hour - even on a weekday (!) But the kitchen brings out the food very quickly too. I drove from Daly City (near Westlake), finished my 2-course lunch and got home just under an hour. I can't wait to come back in the near future!

I live close to this place and ever since it opened I have seen lines out the door, so I decided it was time to finally go check it out. We came in at a good time and got seated immediately, but the restaurant was still very full on a Tuesday night. I was with one other person and we got seated in the large group table, which wasn't ideal, but I was just mostly happy with how quickly we got seated. The vibes on the inside are so lovely and I love the art on the walls. I ended up getting the Hanger Steak Frites and it was delicious. I definetly recommend asking for the aioli on the side with the fries because they take the fries from an 8/10 to a 10/10. I am always a sucker for fries with aioli, so this was perfect. The meat was cooked beautifully and the onions on top really brought that unique flair to the food. We also got the small salad (which was actually pretty big) to make us feel better about getting a bunch of red meat and fries, and it was pretty good. Definetly give this place a try if you are in the area!

Mid experience overall. The positives-The interior is very cute with great lighting. The service was pretty attentive with staff greeting/seating us immediately. It's a small space but the tables weren't too crowded. We ordered the burger and the steak frites. The burger flavor combo of brie, bacon, and onions was nice, and the garlic aoli was tasty. The negatives-When I ordered the burger, the server asked "Do you want it with fries or salad?" To me, this indicates that the side is included with the $21 dish. I was shocked to see a $5 charge on the bill for mixed greens with only dressing. I ordered the latte with a double shot (standard everywhere I buy coffee) and found this was also an additional charge.Furthermore, my partner asked if they had Diet Coke and they said yes, but then served a Pepsi or other off-brand...We also ordered the bread service, expecting it to be a starter, and it was served along with our entrees. The bread was verging on stale and the "paprika salted butter" just had a sprinkle of seasoning on top, enough for one swipe. Definitely a miss! Both the burger patty and the steak were undersalted. The onions were undercooked as well. Overall, the experience was fine but not worth $80+ for two - and we won't make a return visit.

Been eyeing Galinette whenever we popped into our other favorite, Underdogs Too. And they did not disappoint, went in curious and starved, walked out content and beyond. The place is cute and casual with fun elements. And the FOOD ... oh my ... we ordered Chicken Liver Mousse to start and shared the Mussels and Steak Frite with fries as our main/entrees. We also had a Mushroom Mix as a side (veggies requirement for me )The Liver Mousse had nice texture and well seasoned. The mussels were in a white wine sauce and just so perfect I want to slurp it up after. The steak was perfectly cooked, medium rare, and topped with caramelized onions that proved itself a perfect complement to the rare bite of steak! Now ... I knew it was going to be delicious, but I didn't know it'd be the best thing I've ever tasted!! And a SIDE DISH!! The star of our dinner - Sautéed of mix mushroom in garlic, butter with herbs and parsley. Holy moly. Perfectly cooked and balanced. I'd order and eat that with the baguette and paprika butter anytime. We really enjoyed our time there. Carl was our server and he gave delicious recommendation of wine pairing and a funny guy to boot! Definitely worth a return!!

Lovely evening at Galinette on Valentines Day. We arrived at 5 ish since they don't accept reservations. Not too crowded and staff were friendly and welcoming. We ordered 4 apps and the special truffle risotto to share. My favorite was the Chicken liver mousse, smooth and creamy and the bone marrow was roasted to perfection. Both went well with the white wine. The truffle risotto was very fragrant and the mushrooms were delicious. I noticed there was a $5 bread service and a SF Health Mandate charge. By the time we left, this place was full. Overall a great local eatery for when you fancy some Parisian fare. Will be back soon!

I was immediately transported to France as soon as I stepped into Galinette. The decorations and the tables outside reminded me of all the cafes in Paris and set us up for a really nice meal. The French onion soup was hearty, cheesy, and perfect for those chilly SF days. The duck croquettes was so interesting, I never had duck prepared this way into little balls but what I really loved about it was the sauce. I was stuck between the burger and the jambon beurre and decided to go to the burger. The cheese was a little strong for me but it did pair excellently with the onion aioli and bacon. The service was a little slow and we had to ask for our check twice but it was also a busy afternoon and to me made it feel like a more authentic French experience.

This is a very cute, little French bistro tucked away on the corner of Taraval and 46th Ave right by Great Highway. Parking is a challenge since most of the surrounding area is residential.A friend recommended this place for dinner on a weeknight. There were three of us and we all started with the French onion soup. A couple of us ordered the mussels with white wine and shallots with a side of fries to share. The other ordered the steak and frites. The French onion soup was good, slightly above average compared to other French bistros. My friend enjoyed his steak, although medium rare turned out to be more well done. The broth in my mussels was flavorful but the mussels had too much sand. Almost every one of my mussels came with a complimentary side of sand. Sadly this caused me unpleasantness during the meal since I was too focused on making sure I didn't bite down on any sand.Service was friendly and average. I'm not sure I'd return unless in the area.

Happy to have a new French bistro in Parkside - something different than the usual Asian or Italian fare nearby. My first time here, everything I ordered was delicious, which is rare! The warm bread with butter, escargots in puff pastry with mushroom sauce, roasted bone marrow, and mussels on white wine sauce. Everything paired perfectly with my glass of white wine. My hubby ordered the French onion soup, steak frites, and a bread pudding for dessert, and our son ordered a chicken sandwich.Came back again because I was dreaming of the puff pastry - the flaky pastry paired with the escargots in a rich creamy mushroom sauce. This time I visited with a girlfriend, and for our main course, we spilt a salad. It was a perfect sharing portion.Do not expect American portions here as portion sizes are very French. Hubby was disappointed with the size of his steak for the steak frites. The service is friendly and the staff are great with wine recommendations. It takes a bit longer than expected for such a small restaurant to serve the food. I love the open kitchen and graphics on the walls, but the restaurant itself could use some sound acoustics - it's a bit loud when the restaurant is full with all the cement walls (and is almost always full). All in all, I will be back again to try other dishes on the curated menu.

My sister and I happened to be walking our dog in the area, the day after Christmas. Neither of us had tried Galinette, and decided to stop in for lunch. It was just a short 5 minute wait for an outdoor table since we had our pup with us. The service was very attentive and friendly, and both the manager and the server gave our pup lots of love.Items we tried:- Duck croquette: delicious, I expected this to be mostly breading, but was very pleasantly surprised to find that it was very dense with duck meat. Savory and hot, perfect for a cold day.- Beef tartare: ordered this based off other reviews, and was not disappointed. The beef tartare featured finely chopped beef, a quail egg, and plenty of condiments (onion, garlic, mustard?) that made the flavors pop. Served with some toasted bread slices, although we also dolloped some on the complimentary baguette.- French onion soup: really really hot and savory- it was perfect for how cold and windy it was. Delicious melted cheese on top of the savory broth and onion mixture. Not too salty like some can be.- Moules frites: a classic French bistro item, however, note that the fries are a side order and does not come with the mussels. My sister and I both stated that this was our favorite moules frites at any French restaurant in the area. The serving size was perfect for the two of us, and we didn't get a single mussel that was bad (aka closed). Generally at most other restaurants, we have received a handful that cannot be eaten, but we were very impressed with this dish at Galinette. It was served with a white wine type sauce, seasoned with dill. Highly recommend.

Returned to Galinette for a birthday celebration and we tried the bone marrow and escargot for appetizers along with a number of main dishes-all were amazing with the exception of the kid's pasta which was overly bland. Tip would be to steer clear of the kid's options and either share a regular main dish or order one for any kiddos that come to dine here. Service was very attentive and we had the opportunity to sit at the communal table inside the restaurant this time which was also a lovely experience.
