Walked in without a reservation and was able to choose a table in the back on a Friday evening. Parking in this area is not easy but this place is worth it!I felt transported to Japan. Everything was made perfectly and even the ambiance felt very similar to small restaurants in Japan. I got the Miso Soup and Chicken Katsu Teppan curry. The soup was flavorful and delicious. The katsu was fried perfectly and was crispy. It comes on a hot plate so the bottom of the rice is nicely seared and the dish is piping hot. Compared to the curry dishes, I loved that this dish was very hot, rich, and even comes with an omelette. All in all, I would definitely recommend these dishes!!

We decided to do take out the other night and ordered a tan tan ramen and a chicken katsu with curry and rice. The tan tan ramen came in a bowl of noodles topped with minced meat, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots and green onions. The broth was super flavorful and creamy as were the toppings. It didn't seem like much at first but it was very filling. I even had extra broth so I could add my own noodles for another meal if I wanted. The chicken katsu was perfectly cooked and came with white rice and a salad. The curry came on the side. I highly recommend this item too.Since we did take out, I can't comment on the service. But they were friendly and had our food ready on time. The food was still hot and the chicken still crispy by the time we got home. The restaurant is super busy during the weekend too.If you're looking for a weeknight meal, or if you're craving curry or tan tan men, this is definitely the place to go. We'll be back!

Surprisingly good hole in the wall for curry. Went with a group of 6 friends after we missed the HH cutoff at Chome. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food. The portions were large and they give you a generous amount of rice and curry sauce. Also where else can you find a lobster ramen in SF for less than $30?I got the teppan tonkastsu curry with rice. The teppan came out super hot and I was able to get some super crispy rice bites. The service was also super friendly. Great casual spot in outer mission!

No wait on a Wednesday during lunch. Not too busy, a few other tables, one regular who seemed to know the staff well. Street parking was fairly easy a block away. $50.04 total including tax/tip for our two lunch entrees.* Chashu Teppan Curry Ramen ($16.95) - 3.5 starsThis was pretty good. The noodle was soft, the pork tasty. Broccoli was very plain and steamed.* Lobster Ramen ($21.95) - 4 stars. This was a huge bowl! And even though the photos showed just half an egg, we got two halves. Really good, a thick broth, definitely very strong lobster flavor, nice savory broth, plenty of noodles.

Parking is a pain. Ramen is kind of hard to chew.Portion is huge, staffs are friendly, price is decent, love their sizzling plate curry rice with chicken katsu or pork katsu. Curry was thick and flavorful, it was poured from a gravy jar on the sizzling hot place. We visited on a Sat evening, they're understaffed, it was a bit difficult to get their staffs attention for water, order and check. We also ordered the octopus balls and tempura, it's good too, I like to dip the tempura with the curry gravy than the tempura sauce.

It's starting to get cold outside and I start craving soups and warm dishes. My coworker had a couple ideas in mind for lunch and I jumped at Fumi for the Curry dishes. I had been once before for the ramen, but was craving curry and we decided to go try it out. To start we ordered the fried calamari, which was good. Each of us ordered a curry rice plate, which was pretty big. We got the chicken katsu curry, pork katsu curry and the tender beef curry. The food came out pretty fast, which was good because we were on our lunch break and needed to get back. Plate was so big I brought my leftovers home. The food was VERY satisfying and warm on a cold rainy winter day.

Our party of 4 arrived at Fumi Curry around 6:30pm on a Sunday night. Parking was a bit hard to find but we eventually found a spot on the street a few blocks down. The store looks small but like many other places is surprisingly deep and had a separate seating area in the back. It was really warm inside and a little humid, likely from all the teppan curry plates. We were seated quickly at the back and our food came out not long after we ordered. There are signs that speak to how the restaurant cut down their menu to focus on their curry, so I had high hopes that this would be some amazing curry. -pork katsu teppan curry ($16.50): this comes out with a layer of scrambled egg, a nice mound of rice and katsu topped with a lotus chip. The curry comes on the side in a gravy boat, which an employee pours onto the teppan plate for you (though we asked to be allowed to pour the rest of ours on our own). The plate gets VERY smokey and steamy once the curry gets poured on and its surprising how hot these plates are when they come out - you can actually see the print of where the plates have been placed on the table before. The curry was a bit more tart/tomatoey than most curries that I expect to get out at a restaurant, and was a great warming meal. My only wish was that it came with some sort of veggie by default. I did ask for some fukujinzuke pickles halfway into our meal, which helped. Overall, Fumi Curry is a solid curry place with a novel teppan curry option which is fun, though i'm not sure it adds much to the actual dish. When seated in the back half of the restaurant, its a little difficult to flag down a worker for water or the check. Would come back for curry on a cold night!

Japanese Curry is so underrated compared to other more popular dishes such as sushi and noodle soups, but it's the ultimate comfort food and one of my favorite things I've eaten when I visited Japan. There's not too many places in SF you can find quality Japanese curry rice (or at all) so I'm so glad I found Fumi. It's a narrow and unassuming restaurant, but all of their dishes pack a punch. For vegans, they offer several vegan-friendly options! If you're going for curry, they have 2 vegan curry rice dishes! The first one is fried tofu & veggies and the second one is vegan chicken! The faux chicken is actually made form gogo root strips so it's plant-based. It has a great chewy texture and is meaty and filling at the same time. I love the creativity and I think the dish is super delicious.Instead of curry, you can also do the tofu or vegan chicken as a teriyaki bowl instead. If you're craving noodle soup instead, they have a vegetarian/veggie ramen bowl called "Every Green" with tofu and veggies. If you use udon noodles, it is completely vegan! Nice sized portion with a tasty flavor that is sure to comfort you on a cold day. This place fills up quickly as it's a petty popular local spot and you can see the endless take-out orders fly out the door. Once you try it you'll understand why!

They use frozen crab meat for the ramen, this is my 1st time eating avocado in the soup very weird combination. Expensive and not worth trying again.

My daughter and I had just arrived in San Francisco to spend some time with grandma before school begins the Fall session. I've always tried to look for interesting places that will be friendly to my daughter. Fumi has curry and ramen so it fits both the adult and children's palette. My daughter got her customized ramen with corn and a side of pork tonkatsu while grandma got her beef teriyaki. My aunt and I got the sizzling curry plate. The curry's taste was OK but the sizzling hot plate made it an interesting experience. The rice was slightly crisp and made it taste different. As a result, the eggs on the hot place were also burned a little. I asked for mild spiciness but I think it would taste better with more kick next time. The parking might be a little challenging which goes the same for everywhere in San Francisco. Since it was lunch time, it made it harder to find parking. We ended up parking at Safeway since we were going to get some groceries afterwards.
