Arrived at around noon on Sunday - only one other table occupied. Noticed a lot of to-go orders. There were also a lot of people who came in to ask about the lunch buffet; however, apparently, they recently ended their buffet. We ordered the lamb tikka masala, mattar mushroom, garlic naan, and butter naan. Didn't realize our order also came with a big heaping of rice. It took a while for our order to arrive. Everything was good, though. Best thing is always dipping the naan in the sauces. Maybe wished there were a few more lamb pieces. Also ordered the chai - served piping hot. Wish they offered free refills.Staff were friendly and checked on us often.

Tandoori chicken takes 30 minutes!!We stopped by this place for lunch with my 7-year-old son, who loves trying new foods, and my wife. We thought I'd order the tandoori chicken and maybe a couple of other dishes. But when we were told the tandoori chicken takes 30 minutes, we suddenly got really busy! So, what should we order instead?? After asking around, we ended up ordering a few things, but two of them were a miss...If you really want the tandoori chicken, just order it! The other dishes don't come out that quickly either!

Finding reasonably priced Indian restaurants in South San Francisco and the surrounding areas can be quite a challenge. I often have to drive to South Bay or San Francisco for good Indian cuisine. I'm surprised by the low ratings for Five Rivers Indian Cuisine; I actually enjoyed my experience here. I ordered takeout, and my meal was ready in just 20 minutes, which is awesome given how busy they were. I recommend placing orders online for a quicker experience next time. I tried the Chicken Vindaloo and Butter Chicken, and while I liked both, I wished they were a bit spicier or offered a way to add more heat. The garlic naan was decent, though I prefer it thicker and fluffier. The naan here was a bit flat and didn't have a strong garlic flavor. However, for the price, I can't complain--they even included extra rice! Overall, I would definitely return for a quick meal when I desperately need affordable Indian food lol.

For the price, this isn't bad. Service is also very responsive. Lots of people come here for their lunch buffet, even on a weekday. It's $16 and hot chai is included. The aroma as you walk by is very inviting and if you're a sucker for Indian flavors, you'll probably wanna try this at least once, just because the price is so good, especially in this economy. Honestly, I only come here for the goat because where else can you get unlimited goat for $16?Although their offerings are basic, they keep a steady supply of freshly made dishes and you also get your choice of unlimited naan. Granted their naan is not that great but if you cover enough tikka masala on it, you can't taste the difference. Speaking of tikka masala, that's probably the best dish offered -- it's very rich, creamy, just enough tomato and very flavorful. I don't like the chicken breast they use but I know a lot of people like breast over dark meat. I'm sorry to say I did notice a little baby cockroach roaming around the buffet dishes crawling around the fried samosas area and their bathrooms are a little questionable so if dingy atmospheres are not your thing, your stomach might consider other restaurants. I didn't have any health issues after dining here so the choice is up to you, although now that I've tried their buffet, I'll probably go elsewhere until the next time I start craving unlimited goat

We really liked everything we ordered. Kachumber salad, chicken curry, butter chicken, chicken tikka, butter chicken, prawn curry, garlic and plain naan. Everything was good. The prawns were a bit over cooked. The chicken curry sauce was thinner than expected- almost like soup but it tasted good. Their rice was very good. Service was efficient.

I'm updating my review after talking Ranjod at the restaurant. He was very nice and expressed great concern about my experience. He gave me another order at no cost. The flavor of the food is incredible and I'm happy to give them another chance. Thanking for making my order again for me.

We've been waiting 2 hours. We called and were told he's on his way. Then he's about 5 minutes away.We wanted to support a local business by ordering directly, tipping well, waiting patiently. He's now 'here' but made us come walk to meet him at the end of the block. Really?
