very nice, small storefront eatery named for famous Lebanese singer: Fairouz. I had "Zaatar pie" = fresh flat bread layered with a glorious covering of Zaatar, a classic mix of herbs and sesame. Zer gutt! Simple is wonderful, but I'll get a pie with Zaatar and Labneh (Lebanese sour cream, right???). Music ranges from Arabic classic to modern pop, which describes Fairouz herself, if I understand correctly.

A nice deviation from the wealth of Italian restaurants in North Beach. Not a huge menu. Anything with freshly made dough is a must here!Sfeeha: Delicious. Ground lamb, spices and pine nuts top some freshly made pita dough. It looks like a pizza and is cut like a pizza, but the dough is way better. Fluffy and pillowy, not crusty and chewy. Such a fun and unique lunch option in North Beach.Cheese Boat: I guess Georgians aren't the only one pushing cheese boats right now. Lots of cheese in dough that's mostly open faced. It's not like mushy cheese, but more like melted cheese on a pizza. Good thing there was some olives and peppers on the side contrast the richness.Mezzeh Platter: Figured this would be a good way to try a bunch of things here. Really liked the falafel, nice and crispy with a fun grainy inside. The hummus and babaganoush tasted pretty standard. There were a bunch of fries, so it was fun sometimes dipping the pita and sometimes dipping the fries. The dolmas were ok, a bit dense.

You can easily miss this place if you're not looking. Tucked next to a barbershop on Columbus, Fairuz Eatery offers classic Mediterranean fare like falafel, dolmas, and za'atar.Upon entering, you're welcomed by a pleasant yellow interior that helps brighten up the place, and a chandelier that adds some character. I decided to go with the falafel sandwich. The service was good, and it took only around 10 minutes for my order to come out. They ask whether you want it spicy or not, and naturally, I went with the former. The sandwich itself was on the smaller side, with the ingredients peeking out of a pita pocket. Taste-wise, the falafel was the star of the show, with a light, crunchy exterior and a flavorful, moist interior. With that said, I think a few things could be improved upon. Other than the falafel and pita, you can't taste much else. Adding additional condiments like pickled turnips, onions, cucumber, and a stronger tahini or tzatziki would balance out the sandwich more. Additionally, as someone who likes their spice, I didn't find the sandwich very spicy. Finally, the sandwich was a little cold. I think heating it a little more would add greatly to the texture and overall flavor.

The food here is so delicious, clean and comforting. The location indeed is unassuming and I never noticed it just walking past, but it's small and cozy inside. The service is great. I'm coming back. We had the mezze platter and the lentil soup. Yummy.

One of the most affordable food options in North Beach. This place features home-style middle eastern food. I like the cheese and zaatar flat pie the most - super flavorful! I had ordered a 'cucumber salad' which is actually more of a yogurt dip that helped round out the edge of the zaatar spice.I've also tried the cheese boat - good but not as flavorful as the flat pie. It could have used more garlic or parsley or spice. The spinach pie has a nice spinach to dough ratio, making it a meal in itself. The filling is spinach sautéed with onions. It's a good place for a quick bite since they have tables that look onto Columbus avenue. It hasn't been busy the times I've been so service Is fast and efficient.P.s. they have an assortment of baklava that I plan to try in future visits!

Perhaps the name Fairuz gave me higher presumptive expectations. Had the falafel & sorry to say they can do better. Nonsensically bland.
