Service feels like home. When you get hugs cuddles and hot plates served up as soon as you walk in. The nice Tia's house, you know what I mean? That kinda good food. Order everything you won't be disappointed. My fave has been the CDMX cuz I don't wanna have to make a choice, I want it all - chilaquiles verdes, perfectly flame grilled aracherra steak & the French toast conchita. Superb. Runner-ups have been huevos ahogados, rancheros, enfrijoladas, costillitas...like I said Order everything.

Service is excellent and food is very good.Three in our party had the CDMX plate that came with cream and strawberry stuffed French toast, chilaquiles, eggs, and potatoes. It was very filling. The chilaquiles come with a choice of pork protein (chorizo, ham, sausage) but you can substitute chicken or something else. Most items were very good except the overcooked eggs.Another in our party had the chilaquiles and really liked it.We showed up at 10am on a Sunday and were told the wait would be about 20 minutes. On a nice day, the neighborhood is a pleasant place to hang out while waiting. And sure enough, we were seated in 20 minutes.

So, the night before, I had driven across the city to try tacos at 'Tacos del Barrio". At 9am I was hungry again and dead set on finding good chilaquiles in the city. So off I drove again. You see, I know you don't care, but I have been living in Sac county for 5 years. 5 miserable years of trying to find good Mexican food. The simplest food there is, but so hard to execute on this side of the state. So I wasn't going to miss this opportunity. And I am glad I didn't because the chilaquiles were just so damn tasty- crunchy tortilla on a complex, flavorful salsa along with refreshing cream and cheese on top. And, they add fresh diced onion, which is the pinnacle of perfection. But I must take my sombrero off and bow to the mother of all creations when it comes to dessert: Concha French Toast. And no, it is not too sweet. It is perfectly balanced with a light Chantilly and fresh strawberries inside. One serving is plenty for two people, and if you are having it with a Cafe de Olla, then you are in Mexican heaven my friend, where we crap on Starbucks, have happy bellies, and the spice is always a spoonful away.

Had to come back!!! Did not disappoint. This place keeps it consistent even on a busy Saturday. Under $50 for 2 people! (Our total was $48 before tip)

This is now my new favorite brunch spot in the city, hands down. They don't take reservations so you need to get here early to put your name down -- total wait for a party of 5 at 10:30 AM on a Sunday was 45 minutes. The tables are crowded together which can make navigating around a little hard, but it's nice and warm outside which we were grateful for due to the rainy weather lately.I got the Tamarind Agua Fresca and, per my friend's high recommendation, the CDMX Plate with Chorizo. The food took about 15 minutes to come out but the drinks were really fast to come out. My friend who ordered coffee got plenty of refills from servers who were carrying around ever-full pots.Tamarind Agua Fresca: 4/5, super large cup! I love the tart flavor and it wasn't overly sweet. Very refreshing!CDMX Plate with Chorizo: 5/5, the concha french toast was the star of the show -- actually life-changing, I will be thinking about it for weeks. Just so fluffy and the strawberries cut through the sweetness for absolutely heavenly bites. The eggs and potatoes were fine. The chilaquiles were awesome! Lots of salsa and chorizo, even though it was a small bowl it was packed with flavor. Our servers were so nice and friendly and kind to explain things on the menu. I loved everything about this place, and i can't wait to be back -- willing to stand in the rain again!

Tried this place due to all the hype, and I think it's good, but perhaps a victim of its influencer success. The Mission is not lacking quality Mexican fare, so the bar is high. I had their signature chilaquiles mole with chicken. They charged me $3 extra for the chicken, even though the menu only notes an up-charge for steak. Not sure if it was an error, or they made a change, but either way it was a surprise to me, and they should update the menu. This dish totaled $25, which is steep. That said, the quality was there. The mole was fresh and struck a balance between nuanced and rich. Sometimes mole can be a bit too heavy for me, so I appreciated that theirs was lighter. The portion was large, and I felt satisfied after eating. I also tried a "side" tres leches pancake, which is not on the menu, but I appreciated that they offered it. It was $7, also steep, but fresh and not dry. The ratio of topping-to-pancake was adequate. If I were to return, I'd drop the pancake. Not because it wasn't good, but because I think it is more of a novelty. All in, I'm not sure if I will return though, since this place is mobbed by influencers, and (as noted earlier), the Mission is full of gems if you know where to look.

I actually stumbled upon this brunch spot by accident, when I saw a large line waiting outside. Since then I bookmarked the place and made it a point to come back. El Mil Amores is a wonderful place to get Mexican cuisine-influenced brunch. If you are vegetarian and want to share something savory and sweet with someone, I would get the Tres Leches Pancakes (seriously, some of the best I have ever had) and the Enfrijoladas because it is super tasty and has protein from the eggs and creamy black bean sauce. The ambiance is small business vibes and very cute!

When you're scrapping every last drop of food into your takeout box while the lady next to you is giving you the side eye....That's when you know the food is BOMB!Sorry, lady....I'm not wasting a single drop of sauce or grain of rice.Opening in April 2023, El Mil Amores has been on my list but their limited hours have made it difficult to visit (I avoid weekend brunch crowds). Def kicking myself for not making it a priority because this is some of the best Mexican food in the city. They're open for takeout and dine in only. There's two dog-friendly tables outside. No rezzies, walk-in only.Visited on a weekday for lunch and it was 90% packed so def plan accordingly. Going during off peak hours may be the right move. If you're not able to visit before 3 pm, they just opened a sister restaurant for dinner only. Last month, they took over longtime Regalito on 18th/Valencia and kept the same name. The chef from El Mil Amores also works at Regalito.M E N UClassic Mexican breakfast + Mexican-American breakfast (i.e. concha french toast + tres leche pancakes) and Mexico City style lunch plates. No liquor license.F O O D* Enmoladas de Pollo: Chicken enciladas w/ mole, refried black beans, rice ($19): https://shorturl.at/GcYYrThree chicken enchiladas drowned in a richly spiced, deeply complex silky mole topped with crema and punchy pickled onions. I like that they used stewed seasoned skin-on chiciken thighs which made the dish much more flavorful instead of the usual plain shredded white chicken. The mole ran a tad sweet for my personal preference but a drizzle of their awesome housemade habanero sauce (spicy!) and it was golden. The frijoles were velvety smooth and the fragrant arroz was seasoned with cumin, garlic, and cilantro. Hearty, satisfying, and delicious.* Costillas en Chile Quemado: Pork ribs in adobado sauce, refried black beans, rice, and corn tortillas ($20): https://shorturl.at/VrG1jWhoa, I was really surprised at how fantastic this dish was. Griddled potatoes topped with a generous mound of meltingly tender, meaty pork ribs with an earthy, smoky sauce. Love that the cuts included soft collagen-rich cartilage to enjoy. Served with the same frijoles and arroz as the enmoladas plus warmed corn tortillas (not housemade). It was hella good. Def getting this again next time!S E R V I C EWelcoming and friendly staff. Since there's only two servers, don't be shy to flag them down if you need something. They're a popular resto so food service is a little slow during peak hours (20+ minutes during weekday lunch). A M B I A N C ECozy, modern vibes with around 10 tables and bar seating. Very lively. P A R K I N GStreet parking sucks (residential area) with no nearby garages so anticipate circling and stalking peeps walking to their car. Beware of weekday street cleaning - check signs!Overall, El Mil Amores serves up fantastic legit Mexican fare made with love. I appreciate they're reliant on spices (not salt) for flavor. Def adding this to my rotation when I'm able to get out to The Mission for weekday lunch.

OMG! The food here is phenomenal. The wait is outrageous - we waited 65 minutes for a table, after being told the wait would likely be 30 minutes - but the food is worth it. The service is warm and friendly, but a bit disorganized and inconsistent. The space is cute, cozy, and inviting. Our family of 3 had the following:1) Mole Chilaquiles with chorizo - absolutely amazing! We will definitely be returning because of this dish!2) Concha French toast - unique and tasty; also rich and intense3) CDMX plate - a delicious sampler that includes the house chilaquiles (verde, at least today), scrambled eggs, potatoes, and 1 concha French toast4) Single tres leches pancake - this was great, and I was glad they allowed us to order just one to share/try 5) Cafe de olla - a tasty, unique, spiced, lightly sweetened coffee 6) Mango Agua Fresca - my 6 year old daughter enjoyed this and also really liked the "fancy glass with a pretty design" it came in We wish they had been accurate with their estimated wait time. We were told 30 minutes, but ended up waiting for over an hour, which was particularly frustrating with a 6 year old child. We also wish they had a system where they would text or call when your table is ready, so you don't have to wait in front of the restaurant. They also forgot to bring us menus and water after we were seated. That said, the staff was warm and friendly. The space was clean and welcoming.Overall, we will definitely return for the fabulous food, while hoping they work out some of the kinks / inefficiencies soon.

If you're bored of your basic brunch spots, then this is it! We went on a Saturday afternoon 1pm and it was 20mins wait for table of 4. They don't take reservations, the place is small so come early or after 1:30 to get a table soon. Chips and salsa - mid. Tres leche Pancakes - 10/10 I asked for more condensed milk, it was so good. Chilaquiles mole - 9.5/10. I dint like for chicken you had to pay $3 extra Enchiladas Suizas - 8.5/10. Flavors work well together. Mole sauce is delicious! Huevos En Ahogada - 7.5/10 after a bit you get bored of the chilli verde tangy flavor. Overall uniqueness of this spot sets it apart. Would highly recommend checking it out once.
