My favorite Vietnamese Sandwich spot. Expensive but so worth the price! I get the shaking beef and shrimp and pork spring rolls with hoisen sauce. They do not skimp on the beef! Get it, you won't be dissappointed.

I love a good Vietnamese Sammie and I especially love that they offer patè. A selection of 4-5 types of sandwich, rolls and additional sides available. My go to is the pork special and add crispy tofu. To drink the watermelon litchi smoothie.

Dinosaurs - an odd name for a place with great sandwiches! Always fresh, always crunchy, always yummy classic Vietnamese Bahn Mi Sandwiches served on a crunchy French roll. G E T T I N G H E R ELocated in a tiny storefront set back from the street at the quieter end of Ocean Avenue, you can pull right up with plenty of angled metered parking or get here via the SF Muni M and K light rail lines which stop just half a block away to either side of this tiny hut like establishment next to a fancy optician's office. Service is friendly. Line up, have them take your order, and wait a few minutes before they call you up by number.Sometimes there are tables to sit in an adjacent parking lot, but everyone takes their meal to go..T H E G R U B...My favorite here is their classic grilled pork Bahn Mi with lemongrass. Your choice of meat (also chicken, beef, meatball, portobello mushroom or tofu) - all grilled) is served warm atThe center of your sandwich. Like most Vietnamese Bahn Mi sandos, along with the your choice of meat, you'll find slivers of pickled carrots and daikon, crunchy moist cucumber, cilantro, jalapeños and mayo on that french baguette. I used to omit the cilantro and jalapeños, but I've come to appreciate them now. They also have spring rolls and many different drinks and a wide range of chips to complete your meal. This is my go-to on this side of town for Bahn Mi!

Updating my review since I came here over the weekend and dang so crazy how expensive this place has gotten. We ordered the pork with extra pate and chicken banh mi. The pork was sadly not seasoned and lacked flavor. The portion of meat was lacking as well. The chicken banh mi didn't taste like it had any lemongrass taste (and yes I know what lemongrass tastes like!). It just seemed like a standard grilled chicken with the toppings you'd have in a banh mi. I had to drown my sandwich in sriracha to enjoy it :/ So sad that this establishment that is nostalgic to me has gone downhill.

A friend was grabbing sandwiches from Dinosaurs for the group of us, so I ordered the crispy tofu sandwich. I appreciate that Dinosaurs has more than one vegetarian banh mi option. It contained thin sliced carrot pieces, tofu, cucumber, cilantro, and jalapeno, and there was a sauce that seemed like hoisin sauce but spicier on the side. The sandwich is pretty large. I thought the crispy tofu bits were fun texture-wise and were savory, I didn't find the sandwich too spicy (as someone who can only handle a mild level of spice), but the main downside was that the bread was a little too hard.Overall, pretty good banh mi.

I only get the crispy tofu bahn mi. It's soooo good. I get people who eat meat to get it too. They love it. I get Vietnamese people to try it and they're purist. They love it. I wish there was one in Fidi

I find myself coming here more for convenience vs my desire for a Dinosaurs bahn mi. I think their sandwiches satisfy my craving for a bahn mi, but it isn't a spectacular one as well. it's just hard to justify paying so much for a bahn mi.

Absolutely obsessed with this hidden gem! Or should I say I'm obsessed with their lemongrass chicken Bahn mi since I can't stop ordering it. I don't know how they do it but I'm absolutely obsessed with this flavor packed sandwich. I get it every time I'm about to head towards Golden Gate Park as it makes the best picnic meal

I am always in search of good Banh Mi and I ran into this place. I got the special Vietnamese sandwich which had fresh ingredients and included a fresh baguette. It's a take out only spot. I also enjoyed a rare find in the city of a Canadian version of Crush Cream Soda.Go to the place that you order at the door, try the different Vietnamese sandwiches at Dinosaur

Came to Dinosaurs at 1215pm on a Tuesday and it was pretty busy. It's just a window at which you order and pick up your order, right next to the outdoor seating/play area and a pilates place. Ordering is quick and easy, and most people were waiting directly outside for their order. We got our order around 15-20 minutes after placing the order, and it looks like a pretty small space inside with just one person making orders and another taking orders. The Special ($14.75): this is roasted pork, pork loaf, and pate, in addition to the default pickled carrots and daikon, fresh cucumber, cilantro, jalapenos, and mayo. The banh mi comes on excellent bread, crunchy but not hurt your mouth crust, with soft and fluffy bread that held up even the day after without getting stale. There's a LOT of carrot pickle but not as much daikon or cucumber which is a little unfortunate, but the rest of the sandwich makes up for it. There's a generous amout of meat, the pate has a distinctly umami Maggi sauce taste, and theres just enough mayo without being overwhelming. It's big enough to be two meals or one large meal, though obviously the bread is best fresh. Definitely a great lunch if you have a moment to wait for the sandwich to be made :)
