Dandelion Chocolate

Dandelion chocolate has been my favorite since I first tried them on my SF trip in 2018. I bought their 70% cacao back then and I loved it so much for baking and making hot chocolates. I didn't know when I will be in the area again so I used it sparingly and made it last lol. The chocolate bars are ethically sourced from all over the world and are delicious. My last time at the Valencia branch, I tried their chef's tasting. This time we opted for the European drinking chocolate, Mission hot chocolate, Cacao smoothie and the Overnight oats. The Mission hot chocolate is a spicy version inspired by Mexican hot chocolate and my favorite of the bunch. The Cacao smoothie was nothing like I have tried before, sweet with a slight hint of tartness. Overnight oats were a treat to the eyes and looked so pretty that I honestly didn't want to ruin them by eating. They turned out to be so satisfying that I can't stop thinking about them. Needless to say, I will definitely stop by again when I am in SF next.

When someone recommended the hot chocolate here but didn't know we should have asked which one. They have tones of options so we went with the house. It's about as good as hot chocolate gets. Pretty rich without being overwhelming, a bit complex, and balanced nicely with the whipped cream. They even let us do a vegan milk alternative and it was just as good. The price is about what I would expect for an upscale hot chocolate but still worth it. The atmosphere is cozy with great seats next to the window and modern design throughout. They have some free sample chocolates out which had a few twists on a normal chocolate like sesame chocolate. The staff is also super friendly and helpful. While there was a decent line for being near close, it moved quickly.

Dandelion is amazing. Their European hot chocolate is thick & creamy. Delicious!! Take a tour of the chocolate factory - totally interesting & yummy! Highly recommend.

Very cozy and European style cafe with the option to buy unique vegan chocolate bars, try hot cocoa and visit the chocolate factory! The staff is amazing! Very friendly, knowledgable, passionate about the chocolate. I tried Factory tour and chocolate tasting, so get the opportunity to try chocolate with different flavours, walk through the factory and even got the chocolate bar of my choice at the end! Highly recommend this unique place if you're into good chocolate! The feature of dandelion is that each chocolate bar includes only 2 ingredients: cocoa beans and sugar. Parking is quite big and available near the factory just in front of the entrance. There are restrooms inside. Even without a tour if you walk into the shop you have an opportunity to try a piece of chocolate bar you're interested in.

Swung by on a Sunday morning. This location is a factory as well as a cafe. The matcha chocolate cookie was soft and the matcha flavor is pretty faint compared to the chocolate. Brownie was dense and super rich in flavor. Near the entrance, they display all of their chocolate bars and actually have little samples for you to try as well. There's lots of parking available as well, which is nice. Shop has nice big windows that let in lots of sunlight if you plan on relaxing a bit in store.

I ordered the Nibby Horchata, House Hot Chocolate and a smore. The House Hot Chocolate had a taste like roasted coffee grinds. The small chocolate chip cookie that comes it is nothing noteworthy. The Nibby Horchata had the consistency of a protein shake. I was with a group of 3 other people and no one liked any of their drinks. The smore was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed it. The aesthetic was great but unfortunately not much else was. I love chocolate and hot chocolate so it was unfortunate.

Came here for the chocolate tasting factory tour on a bustling Saturday evening in December. Lots of people shopping for gifts and purchasing baked goods and drinks from the cafe with Latin American music playing. The tour was excellent and we got a complimentary drink at the end. Highly recommend going for the cacao fruit smoothie! Fun fact: Chocolate comes from a fruit. We got to learn the process of making chocolate from beginning to end and to see the the equipment required to roast, remove the shells, grind, conch, temper, and package the chocolates. Dandelion Chocolates focuses on single origin chocolates from all over the world, so for you all you milk chocolate and white chocolate (NOT real chocolate by the way, but love it nonetheless) lovers, this is not the place for you. During the tour, we got to sample three different kinds of chocolate (Belize, Ecuador, Madagascar), and it's amazing how each one has its own distinct flavor, which is what Dandelion chocolate is all about.

Love the vibe and tasters of chocolate. Line was pretty long but moved quickly. Friendly service. Thought the marocchino was going to be more like a mocha/cappuccino. Was a bit disappointed that it ended up pretty much just being two shots of pretty acidic coffee with a hint of chocolate and whipped cream -- the description was a bit vague, considering the name and that they first list 'European drinking chocolate +'). They were out of a few of the pastries (came around lunch time), so I ended up getting a Gateau basque. The crust was flatly though a bit thick, the pastry cream was fine tasting though a bit solid, and the absolute delight of this dessert was definitely the cacao fruit jam. It was sweet and tangy -- almost a lemony flavor.

Arrived around 5:30 PM on a Saturday and although there were quite a few folks in the store seated and enjoying their goodies, there was no wait to order!Got an European Drinking Chocolate and thought it was delectable. Smooth, thick, delicious!The space is gorgeous, very unassuming from the outside, and had 2 restrooms in the hall that were decently clean.The store front itself is well organized and beautiful, with many chocolate products in display. There were so many samples of chocolate bars to try!Staff were courteous and efficient.5/5 - Would come back again if in the area!

In 2021, I ordered the Cookies for Santa assortment and was quite disappointed. I wrote a review on Yelp and the business contacted me directly with an offer to try another item. I didn't take them up on this, but the personal outreach was significant. I found myself in San Fransisco this year for work and swung by to purchase a few single origin bars and they were delicious. So much so I decided to give the Cookies for Santa another go. This time around Santa broke into them early and is extremely happy. You're missing out if you didn't get a batch! I'll be ordering from them again.
