D&A Cafe used to be a go-to spot for my family before the pandemic, and I remember it being so popular that we often had to wait outside for a table. I recently took my family back, and while the experience brought back memories, a lot has changed. The ambiance is unique, with a blend of modern and traditional Chinese decor, but the restaurant was surprisingly quiet with barely any customers. The food was just okay, not bad for the price, but not particularly memorable either. Some dishes were a bit too salty for my taste.Given the changes, I think this spot might be better suited for takeout than dining in. While it's not the same as I remember, it's still an option for a quick, budget-friendly meal.

Came here on a Friday night because I saw they have a special where you can get four dishes for $45 and it comes with rice and soup for up to four people. The restaurant itself is a mix of funky and traditional Chinese decor. The food was good and tasted as expected for Cantonese food, except the bean curd stick with pea leaves dish was lacking flavor. My favorite dish we had was the Peking spareribs. Now the reason for my two star rating: the entire time we were sitting inside the restaurant, there were flies flying around us and the food. And there were dead flies on the ledge next to the booth we were sitting at. It grossed me out so much, I would never eat here again. If you want to try the food, my recommendation is to get take out.

We were expecting affordable chinese food. They kept the Chinese name of the restaurant, however once you walked in, you would notice that ownership has changed and the ambiance was different.Service was actually quite quick. We ordered the meal combo: which was very good price for food nowadays. We loved all the 4 dishes especially the sour pork ribs, they were very delicious. However, we wished there were even more choices of meat dishes in the meal combo menu.

I try to get a meal here whenever I get in the neighborhood. This has been one of the most consistent restaurants that has been in business for a very long time, I'm glad they're still in business. I mostly get takeout so I can get lots to share with my family. The family menu is very extensive and has items that would be enjoyable by most people.I really like the newer paint scheme they use on the interior, they employ a black paint scheme with some appealing lights. This is one of many go to places that I enjoy patronizing when I'm in the area.

D&A & us go back decades when they had their 1st spot on Broadway nr. Stockton St. The food was fast, good & low priced. The place would be packed @ both spots. Seems not it's a new owner & ambiance have changed. We had a table of 8 & ordered the set menu w/6-8 items. The food was mediocre & portions lessen b/c all plates were cleaned off. It wasn't bad but it wouldn't be the 1st place I would think of going out to eat at. It's no longer packed like it used to & priced similar to other places nearby. I would return if some changes are made. Somehow the food was better when it was a dump openning past 2am.

They have a big selection of sauté or stir fried dishes that I have eaten as a kid. They offer a friendly and well lit dining environment. My favorite from here is the salted fish and chicken fried rice. So good.

I came here on a Friday night with my husband to grab a red bean ice but we decided to order a few dishes to try. The ambiance is blue inside and there were booths and tables for you to choose from. The man at the counter was friendly and quick to serve us while his wife was too busy chatting with customers to even take orders or clean tables for incoming guests. We ordered a dry beef chow fun, curry beef stew with rice and a red bean drink. The beef chow fun was really oily so we ate a little bit only. The curry bean was ok but my husband didn't care for the curry flavor since it seemed like a package mix. The star of the show was the red bean drink. It was not sweet and the shaved ice was perfect. We paid at the counter and the wife just kept blabbing to customers as she took our payment. Kinda off putting

Aside from just a few dishes we didn't like due to our personal taste, almost everything was pretty delicious and very affordable. We tried 85% of their menu at this point. Since this is more of a HK Cafe, I definitely prefer the more traditional HK / Cantonese fares at this restaurant. The choose your own 3 items, rice and soup continues to be superb value. Lately we have been venturing towards the more Western-style part of their menu, particularly the Portuguese-style baked rice/spaghetti type dishes. Service was very nice as well. The owner is very gracious. Sometimes we do have to flag the staff down for things, but mostly because they are short-staffed.
