Delicious! I ordered the artesano Cubano and it is a different take on a traditional Cubano sandwich. The flavors were a bit sweeter than usual but still yummy. Lots of flavors. I really loved this chicken empanada. It was a spicy chicken sort of like chorizo flavor that was spicy and delicious. This sauce that comes on the side pairs well. The employee was super fast and friendly. The interior has lot of seating space. Located inside the market.

My family and I were at Jack London Square in Oakland this past Sunday for the Dia de Los Muertos event. There's a regular Sunday Farmer's Market that is held there as well. I was feeling a little hungry and decided to check out what was available. As I walked around, I came across one of the few booths selling food. Being a fan of empanadas, I decided to see what CTK Empanadas was all about. What an offering of empanadas! The woman who was selling the empanadas was very friendly and helpful, and had recommended the Butter Chicken over the regular chicken empanada. I decided to go with the Breakfast Empanada with egg, potatoes, and bacon, and the Butter Chicken Empanada. Each was $6.00 which was a pretty reasonable price for a good sized empanada. These empanadas were awesome! The crust was firm, but not too soft, filled with delicious fillings, each one seasoned well. I asked her if they had an actual brick and mortar place and she shared with me that it is in San Francisco on Market Street. The next time we're in SF, I'm going to make it a point to visit and try some of the other empanadas they offer!

If you live and/or work in the Mid-Market area, you probably noticed how much The Market has changed since the pandemic. I remember the day shutdowns were announced and getting caught in techbro mayhem. People were furiously grabbing whatever they could off the shelves...while the vegan area remained fully stocked. Lol!Once bustling, The Market (food hall) today is more of a ghost town but we gotta stay optimistic. We need MORE food options in the area and CTK is coming through with that!CTK Empanadas took over The Market Café location in The Market. Central location since it's to the left of the main entrance. They're a tri-city based business that sells their goods at Farmers Markets. I believe this is their first storefront. Delivery available. M E N UPeruvian-Argentinian Empanadas: Breakfast (pulled pork or chicken sausage), Beef, Chicken, Chicken Chorizo, Ham & Cheese, Mushroom, Sweet Corn + Cheese, Potato, Apple, Etc. They also have bagels, toast, and tamales. For drinks, there's coffee, soda, oj, and chicha morada (peruvian purple corn).F O O D* Breakfast Empanada - Chicken Sausage w/ eggs ($7) // 3.5 Stars: https://tinyurl.com/2ap77y85Compact empanada with a light, flaky crispy shell with well-spiced, savory chunks of ground chicken sausage and pieces of scrambled eggs. Wish it was warmed through. * Classic Beef Empanada w/ potatoes ($7) // 3.5 Stars: https://tinyurl.com/4drbvkjkThe pastry shell was too thin to support the filling so unfortunately, the empanada started to fall apart upon picking up. Generous filling of ground beef and potatoes. * Pork Tamale w/ salsa criollo ($6.25) // 4.5 Stars: https://tinyurl.com/4ktd768yBest value item, the tamale was delicious and satisfying with a firm, spongy texture. The masa had good corn flavor. Filled with spiced pulled pork. The creamy rocoto sauce and acidic red onions (salsa criollo) brought everything together. Also, includes a piece of buttered ciabatta. * Sauces:- Huacatay Sauce: Creamy and mild. I think more garlic and herbs would help to cut through the richness of the savory fillings. - Rocoto Sauce (extra spicy): I liked this one better, as it has more flavor but def could use more heat. IMO, it was barely spicy. S E R V I C EVery kind owner with prompt service. He was receptive to feedback. A M B I A N C EPlenty of seating around the market and food hall. Dog-friendly outdoor seating in the courtyard with a firepit. P A R K I N GThere's a parking garage half a block away on Jessie (alleyway). Overall, props to the owner of CTK Empanadas for taking a chance with The Market and I hope this is the start to more food vendors moving in. If you're looking for your empanada or tamale fix, give this new business in The Market a try!

The Market is a sad place now after the pandemic but I have been supporting them recently by trying all their lunch spots (boba, korean, ramen, filipino) etc. What is left is CTK Empanadas so came here to order their classic beef empanada with their homemade chicha morada drink. Wow- loving the flaky, buttery crust outside while being stuffed with beef on the inside. I opted for the mild sauce but the spicy sauce is soo much better! There are many options for empanadas as well as tamales. One is the perfect size and fills me up for lunch!

This was my first time trying out this place and I was a little disappointed. I asked a coworker for any suggestions from the menu, but all he mentioned were the empanadas which I did try and they were delicious.. However the sandwich I ordered was the complete opposite.. damn near inedible.I couldn't tell if the issue was the freshness of the ingredients or just a poor combination.. Overall the quality of the sandwich was not good. The bread was soggy, the meat had no flavor, too much mustard and cheese. Just a complete waste of money.
