Last time i checked out on a sat night but was weird vibes so we left. This time we were passing by so why not give another chance as i heard it's usually pretty fun. Friendly bouncer. The place was pretty packed w young fun crowd. There was a pool table next to the stage but we left because it was too hot and music was ok. Apparently its a restaurant which is cool though!

A few friends and I came here at night for drinks. We arrived at 10:45pm, because we planned to arrive before 11pm, which is when the $5 cover would've been charged. Once we got to the door at 10:46pm, the bouncer requested $5 to get in. I told them that I thought that the cover is only charged after 11pm, which is what I checked according to their Instagram before and after we arrived. The bouncer said that they changed it to 10pm and that it's "basically 11." The point is that it was not 11pm, because our group timed our arrival to get in before cover was needed. We ended up paying but that was a bit misleading and confusing. Everything is cash only. I didn't get any drinks but I liked how they had water pitchers and cups in an accessible area. The bathroom is one stall only and not terribly dirty. I got pretty sweaty and the vibes were nice.

I'm going 3.5 but rounding up to 4 stars. The club soda in my mixed drinks was not carbonated. My friend got chunks in his beer. But you know what? The drinks were cheap af and the service was lovely. Great family owned joint with tons of space and great vibes. Would def come back!

We so wanted to love this place, but definitely did not. Ethiopian food plus dive bar neighborhood restaurant should be amazing but this was not that. I have eaten Ethiopian food easily thousands of times, it's part of my favorite cuisine's that I eat quite often, and I would definitely say this was the worst Ethiopian food I've ever had. There was no flavor really to anything, didn't taste fresh or even good. It was just blah. Plus for how bad it was, it was extremely overpriced and we were charged $30 for two glasses of honey wine, that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of in my life. Usually I can buy 2-3 bottles of tej wine for that price. So, if you don't care about good food, then definitely eat here. The positive side of this place was the pool table, the jukebox, and the Erie dive bar feeling, we enjoyed that very much.A note to the cook, please make better food. We would love to enjoy this place. Until then, ciao!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Fransisco. Yeah, that's a bold statement.. but I tend to prefer places that have a sense of culture and feel 'neighborhood-like' more than trendy and overdone. This place definitely fits that profile and the food is really really good. The women who own the place (own and work at) are really cool and if you ever ask them about the origin story of the place, it's absolutely fascinating! Billie Holiday, Marvin Gaye, Tina Turner, James Brown (among others) have played here! All I always get the veggie platter, and love it every time! They do free refills on food, so it's all you can eat. The drinks are always a big pour- they're like full size glasses! I can't ever finish a whole gin and soda. They only take cash and are closed on Mondays. Yelp definitely has their hours listed incorrectly, so perhaps call ahead of time. They open at 5pm I believe? I'll update this post if I can get a clear answer about operation days/hours.

We stumbled on this place one night and now it's one of our favorite spots. Cheap drinks, cheap food. All AMAZING! We didn't think we liked Ethiopian food until we tried this spot. Great family run place, cool history (Google it!). Highly suggest!

I love Club Waziema. I have been coming to this place since 2003. The setting is dark and very much a neighborhood bar, but the food is fantastic. We especially love the vegetarian plate and the doro wat. No frills, but excellent Ethiopian food.

Best Ethiopian food!!! This is a great dive bar with surprisingly some of the best food I've ever had. So many vegetarian options (just get the veggie platter with everything) and the injera is incredible. Amazing service in a sweet family owned neighborhood bar. I love Waziema!
