I desperately wanted to love this one-man bagel-shop pop-up that's open just two days a week, sells out very quickly, and gets lots of foodie attention. But I was underwhelmed. The bagels weren't as chewy as I'd like, and were harder on the outside than I'm used to. They'd work better with cream cheese, but dry they're tough. The dog log was fun I'd go back for that.Ordering online is super-efficient, and there's literally no wait when you arrive (people standing in line or complaining that their preferred option isn't available need to learn how a pop-up - and online ordering - works)

Come and stand in line. Got here at 9 am, stood and waited 35 min. We have a well behave group. Not noisy. Dogs sunning in the sun. Babies in their strollers. People walking their dogs. The baker is taking a vacation starting tomorrow and won't be back till August 4th or 8th. Don't come or else you will be disappointed. I got up early today, had an appointment elsewhere, and got here just right. This is a way cross town trek. Got a baily, pumpernickel dog (salty dog), 2 everything, 2 pumpernickel, 1 onion, 1 sesame. Damage $30. Some bagels were still warm. Can't wait to eat them toasted. They take credit card. Only opens 9 am to 11 am Saturdays.

Can me here on a Saturday morning and a short line before he open at 9 AM. During the week it is pre-order only. Nice selections of bagels, cream cheese, smoked salmon. Bialy and dog log. Everything is to go only. Prompt service and good quality owner operator came from Connecticut, but his train in San Francisco It is currently a pop-up, but hopefully he will get a permanent place in the future open only for a few hours a day so plan for it

I was worried since the negative reviews made me fear this place was over hyped -- it's NOT. This place is LEGIT. Their bagels are truly how I love em and what I seek: firm with slight crackle on outside and chewy center. We got 2 cinnamon raisins, 2 bialys, 1 dog logs in onion-- everything was yummy. Likely the best I've had in a while! The only negative is the long line. But we worked out a system where I drop off hubs then I go to the Alemany farmers market and then we meet in the middle somewhere. Makes a great Saturday morning.

Seems like they've changed up their model a bit in the past month or so, and I did not enjoy the experience. Now food does not come toasted or with a spread, but you can buy a tub of cream cheese and go spread it at home. I understand the desire to shorten wait times, but then again the owner was taking their time chatting with people in front of us even after they had already gotten their orders.Anyway onto the food: While the everything bagel was alright, the dog log with onion bagel was disappointing. Like another reviewer said, the onions were burnt. The bagel part of my dog log was thinner than I expected and super hard to bite through, even though the meat was good. Again, possibly an issue now that they don't toast the food for you -- and I even tried to toast the dog log on my stove 'cause it's not like you can fit it in a toaster.I had high hopes based on all the 5-star reviews, but was not worth the 25-30 minutes spent in line to get cold food with no spread options.

Amazing service. Funny we bumped into the (Alex) owner's parents outside of the shop hanging out. We a little bit of everything. Dog log is a unique twist to bagels and hot dogs. Bialys was my favorite with a fluffy center and crispy shell. Pumpernickel with onion was a little tough to bite.

Definitely the best bagels I've had in SF. I get them by the dozen and toss them in the freezer, like I did in NYC.

came here around 10:30am on a saturday and they were already out of most bagels types. i got an everything bagel; the crust was very chewy and it seemed a little stale. they only sold cream cheese in tubs and weren't making any sandwiches that day contrary to what it said on their website.there's no seating nearby so it's to-go only, and if there's more than one person in line then you might have to wait outside.the bagel wasn't bad but it fell short of the high bar set by boichik/laundromat/hella bagels. i would love to give them another chance but don't want to risk driving all the way out just to find that they don't have sandwiches again.

Cinnamon babka: so tasty, soft, delicious! I could eat it every day.Bagels: soft yet springy inside, toothsome outsideSalmon: pink perfection, flavorful but not fishyHorseradish shallot cream cheese: very yummy, but I personally would've liked more horseradish because I'm a freak like that and I like a kick in the pants when it comes to horseradishBaked goods still warm when I picked them up.I'll definitely be getting more soon!

I've recently moved to SF from the east coast and have high expectations for my bagels; thankfully, Chicken Dog meets those expectations. Bagels have a great flavor, texture, and consistency. Lookin forward to making this a typical Saturday stop.
