I've walked past this place 1000 times and it's always packed. Fortunately my boyfriend and I were able to make a weeknight reservation. The host was kind and patient giving us the option of indoor or outdoor seating. Sunset had already fallen (which is an amazing view of the skyline by the way) so we opted for indoors.There was truly something for everyone on the menu. The waiter had good recommendations based on our appetite. My bf got one of the burgers and I chose the branzino. Everything was delicious! 10/10 for sure and I now know why they're always packed! We finished the dinner with coffee and crème brûlée because who goes to a French restaurant and doesn't get the crème brûlée. It was right on point of course. I appreciated the positive demeanor of all the staff especially because it was the end of what seemed like a very busy night. I even got to practice a little French! à bientôt Chez Maman!

I've eaten a lot of burgers in SF, but the one at Chez Maman East? It's on another level. PERFECTLY cooked, amazing cheese, and the fries that come with it? Unreal. Every time I come here, I think about trying something else, but I just can't do it--I HAVE to get the burger again. It's that good.Beyond the burger, they've got great desserts (the gelato is fantastic), a solid wine selection, and just an all-around cozy, welcoming vibe. It's the kind of place where you feel like part of the family. The owner recognizes me now and always welcomes me back, which just makes the experience even better.The outdoor seating is great too--heated, so you can actually enjoy it year-round. And I love that they don't take reservations, so if you're looking for a last-minute spot, you're in luck.I've been to both Chez Maman East and West, and while the menus are pretty much the same, the vibe at East is just BETTER. It's nestled into this cute little neighborhood, and it really feels like your go-to neighborhood spot.If you haven't been here yet, go. And do yourself a favor--GET THE BURGER.

What a great spot in the charming Potrero Hill neighborhood. They have seating at the bar or window bar, an outdoor parklet with heating, and also some very cozy tables for two inside. they have an extensive wine list and menu, covering all the classic French dishes we all know, as well as some exciting flavors to try. I got the sole dish, my mom and sister got a shephards pie type dish. We got done appetizers as well and French fries! ( gotta have that). We were greeted and seated quickly and our waiter was very attentive and helpful when we had questions. This will make for a great date night spot , as it's so cozy and romantic. my only suggestion would be to have French or Jazz music playing. They had 70s rock , which I don't mind, but it wasn't the right vibe for dinner.

Overall the price is quite reasonable for the dishes. I have been here multiple times and have tried different dishes each time. I think in general, im not as impressed on the meat dishes, like pork chop or the tartare, they don't have as much flavors as some other dishes. The French onion soup is a must try, I think that is so far the best French onion soup I have had in the Bay Area

Love this french restaurant near Portrero Hill! This location is the best the view is so pretty and the outdoor seating is spacious and elegant. The restaurant is more of an intimate ambiance, cozy, warm and comfortable. This is one of the best staff that I've experienced in SF in a while. The hosts and servers are always so nice and accommodating. I've been here for dinner and always get mussels with french fries! The fish plates are always amazing, as well as the desserts. I came here for lunch recently after bouldering in Dogpatch and we got paninis and french fries.

I had a chance to try Chez Maman a while back - and I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. This is an upscale restaurant known for French food - and the food here is awesome. The ambiance here is perfect for a dinner our with friends or with your partner and the service is great.For my food, I tried the beef burger which comes on a ciabatta role (a little different from normal places. Overall the burger was good and flavorful and enjoyed munching on the fries it came with.Had a good experience here and would go back!

Amazing service! This is one of my favorite go to spots in the city. It gets pretty busy especially during dinner so be sure to take note of that when coming to dine. It is a rather small place but there is outside seating with heaters. The food comes out in a timely manner and the servers always check in with the food and filling up on drinks. My favorite starter is the escargot with bread. I think everything on the menu is tasty and worth a try!
